Re: The bulls are back, bitcoin on the way to $5k

⭐ Merited by Lucius (1)
Although it's nice to see something happening, I'm not too excited to see the price rise some 1000$ in two days. It is possible that we have a new bull run (maybe 25% of chance for that), and that this is just bull trap which will be fatal for some inexperienced traders. We should not forget how easy was to crash price from 6000$ to 3000$ at the end of last year, and same players who do that maybe playing new pump game in order to make double profit.

Exactly my thought. This pump clearly looks unhealthy. Seems like the price rose because of a few big buyers, not because the majority of people generally became optimistic. Although it can rise higher indeed due to FOMO and strong buying power or because a few more big buyers decide to enter, we should be aware that it can go down as well (as we've seen many times last year even though the bull run was forecast multiple time). Why should this time be any different? It can but we can't know for sure. We can't predict the unpredictable.

Re: Is it possible to know if two+ btc addresses belong to the same wallet?
by

As said the title;
Is it possible to know if two or more addresses are related to one wallet? and if from transactions i can figure possible connection (same wallet) between addresses.

I post this here because i think it's a beginner question, no?

Yes, it is possible. The most simple example I can think of is this. Suppose you have 1 BTC and you send 0.6 BTC to your friend. In this case, you have a change of 0.4 BTC that goes to your change address, the other 0.6 BTC goes to your friend. Now you have 2 addressess: the first one with 0 BTC and the second one with 0.4 BTC that anyone knows are belong to the same person.

There is another example. Suppose you have many addressess with small amounts of BTC in your wallet. Let's say you have 10 addresses with 0.1 BTC each. But you need to send  0.91 BTC to your friend. In this case all your 0.1 amounts are gathered in 1 transaction and sent to your freind's address. Everyone will see that you used 10 addresses to complete that transaction. You will also receive 0.09 BTC to your change address which will also be seen in the blockchain. Now everyone will know that those 11 addresses belong to the same person.

Where coins get to if there is a malicious validator?
by

Hi. I read some stuff about PoS and how it will look like. I know that if a validator act in some malicious manner their stake will be taken away. The only thing I don't understand is where all the coins go to if there is a malicious validator? Frozen, burned or divided equally among other validators maybe?

Very hard to choose really. Two coins have a lot of potential. If you are talking about market capitalization then I think Bitcoin probably will still be the number one. If we are talking about ROI then Ethereum.

Nobody knows how safe they are. I thought they were gonna conduct an audit but I don't know if anyone did this. So that's just a matter of trust. If you wait for a long position I'd advise to hold in USD.

Hello everyone, i need to know more about the wirex account in details and how it works in relation to bitcoin.

What exactly you would like to know? Think about it as a PayPal which accepts crypto and has its own Visa credit card. That's an easy and conventional way to spend your crypto just like you would with your usual credit card. You can also check Advcash, ePayments, Payeer and Spectrocoin.

Re: After a Bad Sell
by

So this happened to me twice this week, first I sold Bitcoin Cash and the next day, it started booming and has not up considerably and still going strong, then I sold Golem and boom it goes too.

What do you do in such situations? When you finally sell for a small profit after a long wait but then you realize that you missed on big profit with you bad timing.
How do you deal with this? Any tips to minimize this or overcome after such bad timing decisions?

I understand you. I sold loopring just like that. Got little profit and then it went climbing 2x during the next few weeks. That's not the only time such situation happened. If I miss on such rallies, I don't jump in. Be happy that you are still in profit.

That's what a good solid coin with actual use does. Ethereum is needed for the crypto, it's used to create smart contracts and relatively big number of vendors accept it. But don't think it's always rising, look at the charts. It was under $400 just a couple of months ago after it's all time high $1,400 (if I remember correctly).

Another one who came for bounty, uh  Undecided
Okay, first of all, learn about crypto using resources like blockgeeks. You should understand some general principals so that you won't be scammed along the way. Second you need at least Jr. Member rank to participate in most of thw signatures campaigns. Bounties are not only signatures. If you have Twitter account or Youtube channel with many subscribers you can start right now. Also keep in mind that many airdrops are scams. Usually it's not worth the effort

Ledger or Trezor. They are considered equally good, but as for me, I hear Ledger Nano S is recommended more often. I think that's due to the fact it's cheaper. However, I'd lie to say that Trezor is open source so it is a little bit more reliable because the community can review the code.

Hi, I know a perfect site to learn to start with. It's blockgeeks.com. If anyone knows a better site, please share. I found blockgeeks to be the best for a beginner.

I don't agree with that. I've always seen merits of good posts; you might be referring to posts that are technically good but are answers that are commonly replied like "your best choice would be to use a hardware wallet because etc etc...." . There's enough enough sMerits in circulation for the good posts out there.

No I'm not talking about such posts. They are indeed common and don't deserve merits.
Okay, I agree that legendary should be hard to gain. But some people became legendary just for posting while others really need to work hard to get the same.
Also, what do you say about abusing system? I think many people may have several account and give merits to themselves or obtain merit in some other unfair manner.

It's purpose really effective to minimize shitposters?
Distribution of sMerit really given to deserving posts?

I don't think so. Shitposts will go on but without merit. And distribution of merit is not really given to deserving posts. Many posts are neglected and don't recieve merit. I've seen many such examples. This system needs revision. It feels kind of unfair that early users of this forum got merits automatically accordimg to their rank, even though many of those were shitposts and were still counted.

What solution would you propose then? It would me a lot more unfair if the admins would just revert back the ranks of people who have been here since the beginning of bitcoin. If your posts don't receive merit, it's because it doesn't deserve merit. Simple as that. I personally am even more generous in giving merits to low rankers.

The only solution seems to make less merits for ranks. 1000 merits for legendary really seems impossible. And I'm not only talking about my posts. They may not deserve merits but I have seen really good posts without merits. You may be generous but other people can oversee posts or just don't care.

I don't even know. Both are quite risky investment. But I think ADA is better because it doesn't contradict the idea of crypto. But again if they will even be able to make everything as planned.

There's none. Alts are pumping randomly. I think if you want daytrade it's better to go with coin with large cap and trade them. That's less profitable but a lot less risky

Does it really help if I use incognito mode in my browser?

Not really. The only thing that incognito mode does is forcing browser not to save anything that you are doing at the moment (cookies, history etc.) beside downloaded files, of course. Your ISP can still identify you and see what you are browsing. Try Tor browser, it might be slow but that's because of how it works.

I think VPN with no logs should work better. Either way, ISP will know that you are using VPN or Tor browser. Well, if you use bridge in Tor then it will be hard for ISP to know that you are using Tor. The reason VPN is better most of the times is that VPN is faster. Or if you need total anonymity, you can use Tor via VPN.

Re: What do you think about NEO
by

on 14/05/2018, 13:30:56 UTC
I like this project very much. One of the best alts I can find. I was impressed when I read their white paper, so easy to understand and yet so great. Neo has very good economic model, good transaction speed (1k+ tx per sec) and no fees (but there will be eventually). I think NEO is the only one so far that can compete with Ethereum. Other ETH killer come nowhere near NEO.
