This project is not general game project, it is a gambling token? Am I right? Btw, this coin was trading at BCT exchange, but now not any more?

I want to ask, is the ICO going to be on their ICO web page or on Bitshares, because I have issue with Bitshares site anytime I visited the site

Crowdfund will be conducted from the www.peerplays.com website. A BTC address will be provided.

Is this the Peerplays wallet, ultimately?

Or will there be a downloadable wallet (free from the web)?

We have already designed and are currently integrating a complete overhaul of the GUI. For now, we are simply using the current "generic" graphene GUI so we can begin to test the new back end code. Yes, the final version of the Peerplays client will be made available as a downloadable executable.

Just to get this clear, the share drop is now after the 17th?

The SNAPSHOT of the BTS blockchain happens on a random block between midnight UTC on Sepember 1st and midnight UTC on September 16th. (The exact block can only be known based on a simple calculation that gets performed after the last block before midnight is signed on the 15th.)

The SHAREDROP happens when the Peerplays blockchain is launched, towards the end of this year. A sharedrop is when the snapshotted addresses/accounts are integrated into the Genesis block of the new Peerplays blockchain. The people who controlled the BTS held in those addresses/accounts can then use the same private keys from their BitShares accounts to unlock their new Peerplays tokens on the Peerplays blockchain.

Hope this helps to clarify your question.

UPDATE 9/17

According to the calculation given in the original announcement, the snapshot will be applied to BitShares block number 9,291,600

Which was produced at 2016-09-02 16:37 (UTC)

Which means that any BTS that you had in your wallet on this date and time will be counted towards the sharedrop.

I'm still being apprised by our programmers about the exact details, but I plan to put together a more in-depth synopsis about this new profit sharing feature next week.

I also talked about it briefly on the Beyond Bitcoin hangout this morning, so I'll link that podcast as soon as Justin gets it posted.

I have to say guys, so far I am not really impressed with current operations:

1. The way the team setup to acquire a new logo feels amateurish
2. There are no updates whatsoever, not even weekly updates
3. Devs do not partake in the community discussion, do they actually care what we are saying here?

Am I just complaining, because to be honest I expected more from a "professional" team.

Thoughts?

On Sunday, June 19, we sent a detailed update to all email subscribers. In this update, we announced the Logo contest, and explained the status of the DAO proposal. We also explained that for the next 2 weeks we would be working hard to finish the Profit Sharing module to publish in our public GitHub repository on Friday July 1st.  This is happening on schedule, including a major press release followed by a written synopsis of the feature.

For the past two weeks we have also been finalizing plans for everything we will be rolling out this summer, including additional contests and an advertising referral program. We are keeping an eye on the Logo contest and I assure you that we will not be adopting any Logo for Peerplays that does not meet a strict standard of excellence. The $1250 is essentially a bounty for the Logo, and we will not pay that bounty until we have a satisfactory design.

I do not blame you for being impatient, but please understand that we are undertaking quite a feat of engineering on the development side, and none of our dev team are regular forum dwellers. That said, Dan Notestein (our lead blockchain dev) did make an short appearance on this thread a couple days ago. His bitcointalk ID is "dannote".

We have a news and update site that is at least as extensive as any other crypto project I have seen, and we will continue to publish updates as often as they are available. I am also speaking with the dev team to see about the possibility of giving regular development updates, even though they would likely be just a brief overview, it would perhaps give everyone something to chew on.

As far as community interaction, we will be opening a slack channel towards the middle of next month (July), and we always try to answer PMs in a timely manner. Personally, I am looking forward to getting to know many of you in the future, and I apologize that I have not been able to answer every single form question for the last week. We are focused on delivering a highly advanced product in a relatively short period of time, and there is much work to be done. I would ask for your forgiveness if we have not been 100% perfect in every area Smiley

Nevertheless, I do appreciate the feedback and I will take it to heart.

Hey all,

Please check out yesterday’s update on the status of the Peerplays DAO proposal if you have not already done so: http://www.peerplays.com/news/dao-proposal-update-june-16-2016/

This morning’s DAO developments have been unfortunate, and we will be watching carefully as they unfold. It appears that the DAO community will have quite a few challenges to face in the coming weeks, and we wish them nothing but strength, and the courage to come together as a community to find an equitable solution.

As for the Peerplays project, we are proceeding as planned and are unaffected by any of the DAO software issues. Peerplays is not built on the Ethereum platform, and none of the Peerplays development funds are held in the DAO or ETH.

I just wanted to drop by this morning to give a quick update. We are sending out an email update on Sunday with more details, and next week we are launching the first Peerplays contest so stay tuned!

if anybody is interested and didn't have the chance buying at pre-sale:

I will sell 50 PEERPLAYS @0.006. PM me. No newbs without escrow. Senior + ok to send in increments.

Just FYI, the pre-sale tokens are only a placeholder for the future Peerplays blockchain tokens, so direct transfers cannot be made. In other words, "over the counter" trades are impossible. The only way to transfer them is by placing a buy order or a sell order on the decentralized asset exchange at www.freedomledger.com.

Neil Haran,

It is still not clear which game(s) will be presented first. Is it some poker, social game or what?
This is really important to understand, because it will reflect many important things of the project and will help people to understand the project and developers vision.

My personal opinion that the best choise is gambling as it is will take attention of large number of peoples and commercial companies on the market. I think this is the only kind of games that will attract people outside of crypto community.

Hi increaser,

The official Position of the Peerplays team is that we will not be releasing the name of the first game until the test net goes live. I posted a few days ago with answers to some other questions about the game, so you might want to check that out if you haven't already: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1462351.msg15129796#msg15129796

Neil is working to put together an overview of the gaming development vision, which I believe will be available in a week or two.

can somebody explain me the incentivation of the peerplay team members?
do they buying tokens for themselfs or how will they be motivated to make this a success. there is no token contribution to the founders as i can see
push
push
can you pls answer important questions instead of praising yourselfs for buying into this?
i think some people here have to get back to the ground. 3 million is way to much for such a project.
and you cant compare wave o lisk here. they play in other leagues

I would also like to see this question answered Smiley

10% of the chain is allocated to the Peerplays Core Software and Business Development team, as outlined in the official allocations document:

http://www.peerplays.com/news/token-allocations-development-milestones/

this is very low for such a big team. this makes 1% for each team member or so

what is this: 5%   – BTS Sharedrop?

Yeah I want to know too! What is 5% - BTS Sharedrop? Who gets this? BTS holders? Can the devs explain this for us?

exactly, 5% goes to all bitshares holders
please tell me a good reason for this!
you can also donate 5% to my account if you want

In order to jump-start the network effect, the developers of a proof-of-stake blockchain must allocate the tokens in a way that they believe will bring the maximum amount of support. Sharedrops are a method to gain the support of a targeted community and user base. They have been used since the early days of proof-of-stake crypto-chains, and are nothing new.

The information about the Peerplays token allocations has been available since the start of the pre-sale. The "More Details" link on the website, displayed prominently at the top of the crowdsale section, links directly to the allocations page.

Answer to questions about the game

The first game on the test is a proof-of-concept, to show the amazing speed and player capacity that Peerplays (built on Graphene blockchain technology) can handle. Neil has designed the game based on his years of experience with viral social gaming.

Once the blockchain is launched, Peerplays will be equipped to host dozens if not hundreds of on-chain games, and literally any game in the world can be played using the Peerplays server-side hosting model.

Peerplays is a DAC, or "Decentralized Autonomous Cooperative" and has shareholder voting built directly into the blockchain. This means that new on-chain game ideas can be discussed and voted on by Peerplays holders. Server-side games will not require approval, so new and existing gaming sites can simply plug into the blockchain API and attract new users by offering them the opportunity to set up tournaments and wager on their games using Peerplays.

All of these things benefit Peerplays core token holders, because fees paid by both players and custom tournament registrars (gaming sites) are distributed to core token holders as profit sharing payments.

Answer to questions about Freedom Ledger, Open Ledger, and BitShares

A GUI wallet is just a "front-end" way to display the data from the blockchain that is more user friendly than the command line.

BitShares (built on Graphene) is a blockchain with built-in smart contracts that enable a Decentralized Asset Exchange, Shareholder Governance, a referral system, and many other cool DAC/DAO features. Think Polonex or BIttrex, but 100% on a blockchain and governed by shareholder voting.

Freedom Ledger and Open Ledger are web hosted GUI wallets that display the data from the BitShares blockchain. Unlike other web wallets like blockchain.info or Coinbase (and centralized exchanges like Poloniex or Bittrex), your private keys for your tokens are not stored on Freedom Ledger or Open Ledger's servers, but rather directly in your browser. This is truly decentralized and much more secure for you, but also makes it Extremely Important to back up your private keys, because if you delete your browser cache, they are lost forever.

In terms of user-friendliness, both Freedom Ledger and Open Ledger are simply clones of the "generic" BitShares GUI that was built by the BitShares devs. There are so many features to BitShares (they really jam packed it), that for now the generic UI is complicated for those who are not familiar with its many capabilities. However, the BitShares blockchain is open source and so anyone could create a more user friendly GUI if they wanted to, but for now we have this slightly less user friendly version.

our clients aka end users of peerplayers will never get in tough with this crap. the tokens are just for "share holders". The front end of the plattform will be selfbuild by the devs

This is correct. Peerplays is built on Graphene as the back end - but will have its own GUI designed by gamers. The Peerplays tokens on Freedom Ledger (BitShares) are only placeholders until the Peerplays blockchain is launched.

Various other gambling services exist on the net, that utilize provable fair betting.  This is not new.  And these services aren't rolling in cash.  While the market for professional, highly marketed, casinos likely do make a lot of money, I see little incentive for them to switch their systems to PP.  You may have a better system, but you're taking money off the top, so for a casino operator, your solution offers negatives rather than positives, since you would be cutting into their profits.

How do you market this technology so that casinos will want to adopt it?  If their system already works fine for them, and their audience sees that it is fair, what is the difference that PP is going to give them that makes them want to switch?  Switching back-end technologies is surely painful for these operators.  I don't see anyone lining up to do this, so they can share their profits with the world.  Probably be a book keeping nightmare come tax time.

Thank you, those are good questions.

The Peerplays network has two different gaming models- trustless "on-chain" gaming, in which games are programmed directly into the native blockchain code, and "server-side" gaming, on which games can be played on hosted servers.

Peerplays is not trying to get existing casinos to switch their back-end. Casino card games will be programmed directly into the native blockchain code, so there is no need for any 3rd party service at all. Actually, Peerplays will be directly competing against these casinos. Because of this, the question should be asked "What will Peerplays offer users that existing casinos cannot?" One a glaringly obvious answer is that players can keep 100% of their winnings in a cryptographically secured account which cannot be accessed by any outside agency or authority. I will leave it to the reader to analyze the implications of this statement.

For server-side gaming, the option for adding Peerplays to the back-end will appeal mostly to existing gaming websites that do not currently offer wagering. Peerplays will allow them to outsource the liability for operating a gambling server, because no wagering would actually be happening on their server, but rather across a distributed network with nodes around the world. Essentially, Peerplays server-side model allows players to register and wager on a game, and elect a 3rd party (the gaming company) to report the winner to Peerplays. Another example for third party integration is existing eSports gaming websites, who can simply add Peerplays as a wagering option for their users by integrating with Peerplays through the blockchain API, offering their users the same benefits as addressed in the paragraph above.

Fees charged by Peerplays for server-side gaming will be set at a competitive rate to reflect the value of the service that Peerplays is providing to the hosting company - namely the ability to outsource the wager payment processing and the tournament management and bracketing. These companies will naturally be able to charge their own fee (built into the blockchain contract) for playing their games, offsetting whatever minor fee they are charged by Peerplays and creating a net gain for them.

Finally something we have not yet discussed in detail is Sports Betting. Here is a quick preview, from the DAO proposal we published yesterday:

"For sports “bookmaking”, on-chain smart contracts automate the entire process, but to settle a particular book or bracket the bracket creator must pre-select a neutral 3rd party (a specialized business, a multi-sig consortium, or even a chosen friend in a private fantasy
league) to publish accurate game and player statistics to the blockchain."

The implications of this are quite staggering. Peerplays will make the publishing of accurate statistics a business opportunity in and of itself. In this case, the notion of needing 100% decentralized oracles for this task would be overkill. Because of free market competition, centralized businesses are perfectly capable of handling this, and there are plenty of safeguard measures if you want more security, like taking the median of [ x ] number of feeds, or simply choosing a service that offers "insurance" in the event of accidental mis-published information. What this means, in a nutshell, is that in addition to everything else, Peerplays will be able to tap the single largest source of gambling revenue in the world - sports betting.
