Board Scam Accusations

So is this a scam or is the team fake? They are two very different allegations. A fake team sure, can show big signs of a scam, but until the penny is taken, there is no scam. You should put "potential" before "scam" if nothing has been stolen, yet.

[PSA] Bitcoin Gambling SSL Security
by
Cudahuda
on 30/04/2015, 22:16:35 UTC
When using any site that involves money, from online shopping, to bitcoin web wallets, to bitcoin gaming, one recurring risk which has been seen is the Man in the Middle Attack (MITM).  This is when an attacker, somewhere between your computer and the website you are accessing, intercepts your connection and impersonates the website you are trying to access.  The MITM attack has been seen on the Tor network, when a malicious exit node will impersonate certain bitcoin sites to try and steal a user's bitcoins when they put their login information into the fake site.  So what is the solution to make sure you are secure?

SSL and HTTPS

SSL is a method of end to end encryption that makes sure the information between your computer and the site you are accessing is unable to be altered in transit.  People using VPN's and the Tor program to access various bitcoin sites are at higher risk due to putting more systems in between your computer and the site you are accessing.  By verifying you are connecting to a domain that begins with https with the lock icon next to it, you can ensure that your connection to the site is not being intercepted.  For further security, you can verify the certificate they are presenting you is a valid certificate.

us players can still withdraw

For now.

but in the end, there's a solution available so I'm not mad Smiley

It's a trust issue. They violated my trust by doing that. Via tor, vpn, carrier pigeon or whatever I no longer trust that PD will not abscond with my coin.

edit: to be clear, until this my trust in them was total. This is a gross violation.

Do you have autism or some sort of issue?  How does this violate trust in any way?  They changed the rules because it is simply not safe to provide business to the United States, as the US government thinks they have jurisdiction over the entire world and will go after people wherever they are (Kim Dotcom in New Zealand, Bryan Micon, etc).  Bitcoin is not illegal in the United States but the US is still one of the riskiest areas to operate a business in if you aren't willing to pay the bribes for permits, licenses, and regulatory compliance.

Has Huffle lost much beforehand? It's unlikely that his luck has been so continuous in the past. Most people will lose money in the long run. I feel kinda bad for PD, but it's also nice to see someone win so much and it makes you realize that the business is also a gamble for the operators who run it.

PD didn't care about talking every BTC from AK. they even took his last 0.00345362 so i dont care if hufflepuff takes theirs.

what i mean by that is PD should have given AK 10-20BTC comp to help him get back on his feet a week or two after.

I talked to AK last night and PD doesn't keep up to date in paying him his monthly and all time leaderboard BTC

Comping every loser would put them out of business.  Huff's wins are much greater than AK's... which puts the house down for the month if not the entire year.

Looking for People Knowledgable About the Chinese Bitcoin Community
by
Cudahuda
on 22/08/2014, 06:15:03 UTC
I do consulting for a bunch of different bitcoin sites (exchanges/services/gaming) and I am looking to get in touch with some people who are in the Chinese bitcoin community.  A lot of the sites I work for have been asking me questions about this sector and I am a bit out of my area of expertise.  I was wondering if there was anyone who wouldn't mind answering some of my questions or giving me a general idea of whats going on among Chinese bitcoin users.  I am willing to pay/tip for your time.

Incredibly easy and incredibly worthless.  If you managed to get an address that someone had already generated (which is so unlikely it is relatively impossible), it would likely be an address that you yourself had mass generated.

Re: A call for creating a new type of crypto asset

Just thinking...

How about "FlagCoins" - you can flag your coins ahead of time so that they can only be spent on certain items when you choose to do so.  Once flagged, the coin cannot be spent in any other way until you spend it on what you flagged it for.  Then the new owner of the coins can flag them in any way they choose.

For example, you flag one coin that can only be spent on a certain size and brand of running shoe sometime in the future.  Anyone who confiscates it will have to buy that particular type of running shoe with it.  Or maybe groceries at a certain store.  Or produce at a certain organic farm.  Not worth the time for a .gov agency that has confiscated your flagged coins to sift through them, make the purchases, and then try to re-sell the eggs, shoes, gas, and everything else.  In effect, the coins are useless to them but useful to you for purchasing the everyday items you use.

Another idea might be to put a timer on each coin.  Every 7 days, say, the coins are automatically transferred elsewhere (accessible by you) if they haven't already been spent by you.  This means that if .gov confiscates your coins it had better move them quickly because POOF, they are suddenly transferred back to you at another location.

The first idea is nearly useless as it requires people to plan out all their purchases ahead of time, and in effect deprive themselves of the money used to make the purchase before they actually make it.

The second idea is kind of pointless because people may as well already set up this system for their bitcoins, except no one seizes bitcoins by holding them in the other person's address.  Bitcoins are seized by transferring them to your own address.

Some bitcoins/currency will always have to remain at risk as they will be somewhere seizable, but by keeping the bulk of them in cold storage or a brain wallet, you can mitigate the consequences of a seizure scenario.

Hello everyone

I have paypal - which I don't think that's good to pay him or anyone

So I will make a wire to a trusted site to purchase BTC over the week

I will need to borrow funds quickly - and I will return 0.3 BTC

I can provide shares in the new poker website as collateral

Please PM me for PROOF required

I would be willing to do this if you PM'ed me a picture of a government ID.  Please let me know if this is amicable.

Re: 17% of Bitcoins wagered through Just-Dice in 20 Months. Is this good or bad?
by
Cudahuda
on 25/09/2013, 20:46:20 UTC
This topic is unfortunately very misleading.  If I bet 10 Bitcoins 100 times at 99% win odds, that would be 1,000 Bitcoins wagered.  The amount of Bitcoins wagered is a fine way to compare casinos, but using it as a stat compared to the rest of the economy is 100% wrong.  17% of Bitcoins wagered through Just-Dice in 20 Months is not accurate.

You should just say it's for poker, I bet you're likely to get a loan that way.

sorry i presume your joking? if not... its for poker?  Undecided

Its a joke about how people here would probably have more faith in someone repaying a loan that they are gambling with than someone taking out a loan to pay off other loans.
