Cryptos are strictly forms of currency, whereas gold has been used in many applications, except investment, from jewelry to dentistry to electronics. Gold doesn’t require electricity to trade. Until now, gold remains one of the most liquid assets.

But mass adoption started from late 1970s, after accepted by major banks.
