So... those people want torrenting to be a for-pay system? This sounds like the anti-piracy argument about money would become a lot stronger. I'd rather sharing be part of the mining process, so that no one is directly paying money for a download. Having the currency itself reward sharing is a much better system.
Unfortunately what the dev is trying to achieve is not possible /realistic...that's what he's been saying over IRC for the past few days and has now left the project for good. He said he would close the thread and provide a formal update to you all very soon! Just a friendly heads up. I don't like how this dev operates and I felt entitled to post this. Sorry Justin. ( devs real name) Justin Liao ...lives somewhere in HK ...all I know folks.

Sorry. It just won't work/can't be done. We have had our teams analyze this extensively. Stay tuned for an official update.
Any reply to this Blazin888? Just this last week you said your team had analysed this feature "extensively" and concluded it cant be done...Why have you changed your mind in 3 days?
Your credibility hinges on answering this.
Dont see why anyone would want to invest in your project if your team is full of flip-floppers who dont know what they are doing

I have been very busy with my job but this project is far from abandoned.
I wanted to post on thread once push notification is ready with some design fixed in client from user reported problem.
Our push notification will support all mobile OS (Android, iOS) including Desktop (Chrome, Firefox, Safari/Mac OS X).

Well, that's cool. Honestly, I'd be more impressed if you'd started with the torrent app before everything else, but it's your project to do in whatever order you feel is best. I think the dev isn't capable this is why he has moved on from this project. He has confirmed this in a PM to me

Personally I think the syncing feature of the client urgently needs to be fixed before developments in other departments should be taken too far. I opened my client overnight and the last 10 days of activity still haven't synced up.
I'm running the client since a few hours ago and the syncing is slowly going... 22%
It took me dayyyyyyys to download the full chain.. maybe over a week. That's pretty bad for a "torrent" coin who's blockchain size is in the range of 250mb. It is still a young ambitious coin.

Except maybe Storj (uses torrent lib) apparently finished 1st round of alpha = many months away.

People should have their own VTR market pages where they can post uploads for people to download or stream and watch like youtube.
Users should be able to set VTR prices for their videos or get some type of incentives to upload.

I'm interested in mining via sharing (potentially getting paid for a good deed), not playing speculation markets. That kind of gaming reeks of all the worst aspects of capitalism.
....Also the dev hasn't delivered anything he's just copy pasted from other devs work...nothing orginal here yet...that's why I can't figure out why the price is moving..
Litecoin was copy pasted from other devs work. Nothing original there still.
Didn't stop it getting to $50/LTC, when there were ~20m+coins in circulation

I think everyone is getting way to ahead of themselves....this may be a good idea but dev can't deliver this tech...maybe another coin will first.

I've found digital currency interesting for some time now, but as nothing I do encourages using bitcoin, I've never bothered. Am I correct that vtorrent plans to have sharing files be part of the mining process? If so, I'm totally in as soon as I have my own computer again. Bringing the torrent community into the digital currency game is a definite good idea. I only created an account on this site, so I could look into this.
