It is to bad, that devs are not active at least on twitter. It would help a lot. Of course not even mentioning better marketing. Please try to be more active on social network.

Second this. Better marketing could really be useful for SIA. I think there should be more marketing because SIA already got a working product. Not like many other projects that just talk about their future prospects but actually have nothing at all to show. These kind of projects often do alot of marketing efforts and therefore price of their coins/tokens gets pumped. I guess it would really do good for SIA to do some more aggresive marketing.

It's not ready for mass adoption. It doesn't have business grade stability and lacks certain features which are very important.

When it's ready, they'll advertise.

What you mean launch?

Is anyone using this miner for Electroneum?  I can't download Claymore because Defender keeps deleting it.

I downloaded Claymore miner to try Electroneum but no success.

Here's the best analysis of the p2p storage niche I've read so far...
Analyzing Filecoin, Swarm, Storj, SAFE and Sia.

They expect Filecoin to grab an 80% market share in 12-18 months...
But feel there will lots of room for small players to thrive.

Swarm will have the huge advantage of full Ethereum intgration...
Storj has many user friendly features...
Sia has many unique design features including PoW, but usability is an afterthought...
SAFE is written off as "in perpetual R&D".

Is it possible to earn SIA by sharing diskspace to the network?
Yes, but you can’t make sc by renting out 100 GB on a pc that’s on and off. There is an algorithm that lets renters know how stable your equipment is (online time), and penalty for low available disk space.

So if I have a VPS with 1TB I could make some money? Or isn't it worth the trouble?
There is a 3TB minimum free space penalty, so you wouldn't be getting very far. This is to ensure hosts can store large amounts of data.

Siacoin is dead, no good
And you determined this how? By the fact that they recently hired a new dev, passed a storage milestone, and a new version is slated for release next month? Yep, sounds like a dead product to me!

Siacoin is very strong and keep being top 100 since last year. I have bought siacoin at 20 sat and now I am still holding it, I hope I would earn more money if Sia has new releases, maybe next price will be 200 sat again.

There already 1.3.1 hosts on the network testing. https://siahub.info/network

i saw this morning that i can buy a "Minebox siacoin" for around 1750 dollar but still not know if it could give some ROI , does anyone know how many sia i can mine with this (asic ?)

Hi guys!
Congrats you with good ICO.
In White Paper you declare the principle of safety of the car upon delivery. How will the fund be formed to cover insurance costs? Will it be paid in fiat or CarTaxi tokens?
Tnx.
We provide insurance to cover the conveying vehicle.Payments will be made either in Cartaxi Tokens or fiat.

Perhaps the low adoption of users and low usage of available storage is the reason for SC dropping. I have not tested Sia from a end user perspective, but if it is not super easy to buy storage as an end user, they will not attract private users who I think is a great market.

It's not overly easy and not ready yet for average Joe use. However that is not the goal. The aim is to be a back-end for 3rd party services.

It's more important to implement certain features first. believe me. you don't want to release a product for mainstream use before it's ready. first impressions count. that's why they're not promoting it as of yet.

Read this

What does that have to do with what I said?

Why is the price so dive? Is the project no longer developed?

I did not expect the price of Siacoin will ever drop to such a level. Does this mean that the developers have stopped working on the project?

No. It's more active than ever. They have a community manager now and have hired a new developer.

Community members are making things such as a new low fee pool which donates to devs (luxor). A lite wallet, blockchain explorer, duplicati integration, minio integration, siaCDN, etc.

RC3 of the new version is either out or is being worked on. I know that RC2 is finished.

They have sold around 2000 asic mining units which are shopping next year.

Check out their discord channels. They don't post much here.

The reason that it's down so much in regards to btc ratio is that btc is so high. simple math. when btc drops, sia will go back up in satoshi value.

Being new to cryptocurrency, I can see the value/market for sia. I’m thinking of going into sia, and it seems like most people (at least in this thread) would like to get in now instead of 2-4 months ago. Do you still recommend sia as an investment for 2-3 years?

The price is about 0.36 cents. it could go lower still, but this is a good entry level if you want to invest, compared to when.most bought in.

Sorry if i am wrong
https://siastats.info/hosts_network.html -> Used storage = 90.88TB [~nothing]
1TB HDD ~ 300$ -> 90.88 * 300$ = 27,264$
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/siacoin/ -> 127,426,091$

For a mature product (relative to other coins) plus many good ideas behind plus an active team it is frustrating.I mean used storage is so small and curves looks flat.  so why this happened?
Is there any map to change this situation?

Right now it's slow and there are issues with uploads getting stuck. You also have to back up a particular sia folder of renting, to be able to recover.

In the next version, the uploading issues are fixed and you only need your seed and password to recover. Two major steps... I also believe the sia to sia file sharing will be enabled. The UI is also improved.

These things will help with the utilisation.

There is also a lot of work being done around sia by 3rd parties such as the lite wallet and siaCDN.

Guys what is the damn max supply of this coin?

30+ billion is already in circulation.. is there an end to this? Sad

No there is no limit of coins in circulation: https://siastats.info/supply_inflation.html The number of mined coins decreases with every block, but the minimal will always be 30KS/block. However, this number will be less and less representative of the total coins in circulation: check the Inflation chart (second chart) on the link I provided.

Also take in mind in the future Proof of Burn mechanics will be used for hosts, so some coins will be burnt. With the proper adoption of storage, Sia can even become deflationary. Also, more adoption of the storage means more coins locked in contracts and collateral, so less circulating coins.

So i just checked this stats on Sia from the link you provided. What I could see:

1. from 2016 until now the token count is following the supply chart, which is 30+ billion. That's correct
2. If the token adds up with the chart, means there has been no any token burns. Or should this happen sometime in future? when? How much?
3. What is the inflation chart based on, any explanation behind it?.. don't get me wrong but i can make a chart like that also. What is it based on?

If no burn and max supply, the value will keep going down, because of constantly bigger supply.

The burn rate will be about 0.5%. Consider also that lost collateral is burned (right now).
