Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.4 (Windows/Linux)

My 4 GPU RX480 rig has been mining stable with all 12.x versions of Claymore.  When I attempt to add 5th RX480, miner hangs after awhile with OpenCL error.  Miner also doesn't recover, and keep mining; entire system hangs.  My mobo is MSI z170A.  I have modified BIOS to mine with more than 4 GPUs per guides in forums (change pcie to gen 1, enable 4G).

So frustrating trying to figure out how to get 5th miner to run stable.  Have tried with -i 6, -i 5, now trying with -i 7....

Also, not all 5 RX480s mine at 300 H/s.  One is 300 H/s second one real close, but other ones like 250-270 H/s  Undecided Huh

I have a MSI Z170A mobo.

I have gotten 6 cards to be detected.  But 6th card does not behave properly.  Fans run at 100% and it mines very low hashrate.  Now 6th card is only detected if it is plugged into 16x PCI slot E_2 (silver colored) SLI slot.  If it is plugged into E_5 the other silver SLI x16 slot, it is not detected.  Even when I put 7th card, 7th card is not detected in E_5 and GPU in E_2 still runs fans at 100% and very low hash rate.

Anyone know what is going on and how to fix?

What are you all using for ZEC wallet?

I've been sending my ZEC to my Jaxx osx wallet.  But since claymore is such a bad ass programmer, Jaxx has gotten real sluggish with all of the transactions I have going through now.

Go to settings in Jaxx, clear/reset the cache.  That helps.

Settings > reset cache

Wish I had this tip earlier!  I finally was able to get all my ZEC out of that wallet; just took hours of waiting for the app to become responsive lol.

You know there's a window wallet?

Yeah, I'm just sending to Poloniex now.  And I prefer to use osx Smiley

it does not seem to effect my hashrate

but recently been getting these sometimes on one GPU in a rig, the first lines are coloured red, and red means stop usually lol, so can anyone tell me?

anyone else have this issue?

Claymore can u tell me more about this?

I occasionally get a random card telling me that same thing "returned incorrect data!" in red text.  It's only ever a single line/return of that.  Nothing bad seems to result and mining continues as normal (as far as I can tell).

hey guys, how can I report to the development team?
I have a XFX HD7990 video card. are working perfect in Claymore's Zcash AMD GPU Miner V11.1 (Windows 10 64bit), It gets speed about 259 h/s on GPU 0 and 1, total about 520 h/s. But in the GPU miner V12 are all not working on my video car, GPU 0 get 0 h/s and GPU 1  less 100 h/s. I have been change the different radeon drive V15, V16, V17 still not working.

MY another 2 video card HD7950 are working perfect in GPU miner V12 and get 280 h/s in over core clock 1100mhz.

please help my HD7990 fly up in V12

thanks,
I have working 7990 (=600s/s) with stock on 12.3 with -i 3. Driver 15.12. In case you modded memory try to return to original bios.

Thanks -i 3 worked. now get 290 h/s on GPU 0,1.  try before -i 4 or 5 having problems

Is that 290 h/s for one card?

290 is for one core of the card. A 7990 does ~600 H/s.

I had a similar issue with the 7990, to keep it worked I had to reduce intensity, I was using win 7, but it disappeared when I switched to win 10.

It seems that the 7990 is much better than the RX 470 or 480.

It's also at least 3x the cost and probably 2x the power usage lol.

hi claymore

I'm using ubuntu 16.04 with and 16.60 driver
only get around 150h on an rx480 8g
try the different setting but no luck.
working fine on windows.

any idea?

Same OS and driver as me, but I have R9 270X and only getting 10h/s.  I think it's all down to needing the exact right OS and driver combo as per Claymore posts.  I think you have to use 15.10 and proprietary AMD driver (Ubuntu 16.40 uses new amdgpu-pro stack).  Can't get any of my other zcash miners to work at all on this set up.

I have rx480 , ubuntu 16.04, 16.60 drivers and doing 300 H/S on my card.  Maybe reinstall OS/drivers.  My 380x on same rig doing 193-200H/S.  Any problems I mentioned before had nothing to do with Claymore - all Hardware issues like bad risers.  Claymore makes a solid product.

find the ideal settings for each card individually, test it crash proof for at least 24h.

then put it in a rig along side other cards, maintaining space for proper cooling. ensure cooling is sufficient to surpass the environmental conditions during your 24h test scenario.

if you still crash it's likely a software issue like drivers or windows trickery.

if you are crashing or hanging while running the card individually for testing ideal configuration:

increase voltage which increases heat but makes things stable at higher clocks
decrease voltage which decreases heat but makes things unstable at higher than factory clocks due to sensitivity to quality of power signal delivered by gpu
decrease intensity which makes the card run cooler and cuts the workload slightly
decrease the clocks, gpu vs memory depend on the quality of your cooling solutions
clean and repaste your GPU

i do believe most of this has been said before..
Thanks for the tips.  I pulled the suspect card from the rig and running another one of same kind for awhile to see if it is specific with this card.  i think the card might be bad :-/

Rig ran all night stable with suspect card gone.  Briefly put bad card directly on mobo and still problems.  Guess the card is indeed bad.  Fried mother board all risers and two vid cards in the adventures this weekend lol.  Good news is found great deal on XFX Radeon RX480 on newegg ($180 after rebate) so have 4 new cards on the way.

Hello

I want to buy new risers. Witch is better one? What version can i bought on Amazon?

This is off topic so maybe we should delete from this thread?

Well I sell risers on Amazon...  I have 6 packs of risers in stock at Amazon now. With free prime shipping.

In my opinion, green version 6 are best. Black version 6 were good but the factory started making them in a hurry and we started seeing a lot of defects. Blue version 6 I have no personal experience with but a friend fried one in high temperatures.  Same guy that recommended we switch from black to green.

Red version 7 appear to be made by the same factory that makes black version 7. You can see similar qualities in the way they are built.

Damn there is version 7 already? Cheesy Why do we need so many versions?
Here in shops I can mainly see blue version 5, which I have all my cards on.

As for earlier posts I run 480 and 380 on the same rig - Tonga doesnt benefit much from asm anyway.

Edit: DR_TAMFR_DHP  16.6 drivers? I think you need newer, I am on 16.10.3, but claymore recommends 16.12.2. Nicehash recommends 16.11.5.

16.12.2 looks like it is for Windows.  I'm running on Ubuntu.

I am getting this crash after a couple of hours of mining (r9 380x is gpu affected) - 2 380x and 1 rx480, running on 16.60 drivers.  maybe i need to uninstall those drivers and install 15.12?  Hope I can find those drivers online.

WATCHDOG: GPU 1 hanges in OpenCL call, exit
WATCHDOG: GPU 1 hanges in OpenCL call, exit
WATCHDOG: GPU 1 hanges in OpenCL call, exit

And then system hangs.

I had a disastrous day today.  I attempted to add a second PSU to my rig along with a RX480.  My rig was 3 r9 380x vid cards and a 750w power supply.  Well I fried my motherboard.  Which led me to having to get a new mobo, and cpu and memory (local fry's no longer carried lower end mobo that I was using).

Well I got everything hooked up, and the rig when only the RX 480 is hooked up runs just fine.  I cannot boot into ubuntu when even 1 of the r9 380x's is plugged into the mobo.  It just seems to hang.

Does anyone know if a 380x and rx 480 are not compatible?  It seems like they use the same drivers.  Not sure what is going on here. Do I just need to throw in the towel and ditch the 380x's and get more rx 480s?

Figured out my problem.  My risers were fried too.  And one of my 380x's.  Have 2 380x and rx480 mining now.  Have a new r9 Fury arriving Wednesday...

What are you all using for ZEC wallet?

I've been sending my ZEC to my Jaxx osx wallet.  But since claymore is such a bad ass programmer, Jaxx has gotten real sluggish with all of the transactions I have going through now.

You should not use jazz for mining. It says on their site. But I rather have full control of my private key. Installed Ubuntu on virtual box and only I know about my coins

Is it OK to send the mined coins directly to poloniex?

I set mine up to send to there now.

I used to use the linux gui wallet but switched to the windows one: https://github.com/vaklinov/zcash-swing-wallet-ui/blob/master/docs/Readme-Windows.md
I like it, haven't had any issues yet but make sure to back up your .dat and keys files just in case! My Linux wallet crashed but since I had my keys and .dat file I was able to migrate it to the Windows version with little trouble.

Cool , I''ll check it out.

One AMD RX 480, 8GB
About 304 H/s

Does that RX480 have a 256 bit or 512 bit bus?
