Does Apertus work for Linux yet?

Hi GameKyuubi,

Thank you for the great question.
The next version of Apertus will be a browser based application that will be operating system agnostic Smiley

Hi Team,

Just a reminder.
Anyone can etch anything on Datacoin . . .

Red River of the North

Cost to etch - about 12 Datacoin (with no optimization or derezzing).
200.76 KB, etched in seconds.

Find this etch using https://Apertus.io and after Datacoin syncs, point Apertus to ROOT ID 9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb (instructions are in Help -> Info)

You can also locate it with our web portal at http://bitFossil.org, specifically here http://bitfossil.org/9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb/index.htm

Every picture or program we reference in this thread can be put on Datacoin Smiley
(the one above is referenced from the link http://bitfossil.com/9a7755a2cc2b65fd5b2f88d8c97ed6617d7b146205b5034e223c296955d026eb/Red%20River%20of%20the%20North%20xmas%202017etch.jpg)

Cool! There are many projects in 2018, will it be the greatest year of Datacoin? We wait for a good start!

I believe we will finish Datacoin 0.9 and Datacoin 0.10 this year.
This will lead to full integration with Apertus.io, which will become web based in 2018.
Apertus.io should also have smart contract capabilities, and I am hopeful that it will be compatible with Hyperledger.
After bedding down the listing on the Next exchange, we will continue to pursue Bittrex and Gate.io, where Datacoin was listed.
Binance has made an interesting announcement about listing "almost any coin" on its decentralized platform.  That seems a fruitful avenue to pursue.
Another possibility is Kucoin.

Cheers
-extro

Bittrex is deleting your wallet on 30 march so probably not a possibility.

muf18,

Bittrex discontinued Datacoin years ago.
We are the phoenix rising from the ashes.
Work to create a great chain they can't resist, or frankly gtfo <3

Thank you.

Hi extro24,

I share your optimism for your timeline.
There are many talented people who believe in Datacoin and what it can do for We The People.
All the elements are out there - they just need to be assembled.

I appreciate everyone who is working on Datacoin.

Hi Team,

If anyone wants to know the absolute fastest loading wallet we have is, it's the Veronium "High Performance Wallet" that includes solo mining support.
Located here:  https://yadi.sk/d/6YbILBAN3NnvRn
It loaded in about 12 hours on a typical quad core computer.
The other versions take over 2 days.
That's a substantial increase in time that others may want to know about.
Any future work on wallets needs to extract the improvements that are in this wallet that allows for such a substantial time increase.
It doesn't automatically find nodes however, so you'll need to do the addnode method - this needs to be looked at too - Chicago's branch fixes this.

Just very pleased to know we have a quicker wallet out in the wild right now for experimentation purposes.
embii and I are notorious for knocking wallets out -- quicker recovery time for experimentation needs is key.

I just picked up a new GPU. AMD RX580. When ever i try and start the miner it just crash's. Any idea on how to get it working on the new card?

I had a 280x previously.

Hi drozenski,

Great to see you mining Datacoin!

Did you mine with the 280x on this system?

Have you attempted what the program is asking of you --> "Please remove kernel.bin file and restart miner"
You can find this file in the folder that contains your Datacoin miner, perhaps called "dcclient_vX.X.X" -- and contains "kernel.bin" -- remove that file by either deleting it, or even better, putting in another folder to save just in case.
The kernel may need to rebuild to work with the new GPU... when you restart the miner, it should create a new kernel.bin

Let us know how it goes Smiley

More please!
Seriously -- everyone put everything you know about mining Primecoin and Datacoin in this thread -- we'll all sort it all out later into guides -- just dump what you know!
Primecoin and Datacoin shall rise up and become the legit Cypherpunk blockchains they were destined to be.

And MarcusDe backup pool is now paying off.
Note his main one appears down, so fail-over to:
server = "dtc2.graymines.net";

Hmmmm -- now both are down.

MarcusDe has provided us with a way to mine Datacoin for years, his dedication to Datacoin is beyond anyone else I've ever met.
It's time we help him carry this torch.
If anyone can create a third mining option, HugPuddle will gladly contribute to a group bounty pool to help make it happen Smiley

Hi,

2nd pool is up.
You can use it as backup pool, as I didn't make frontend yet, but backend is running and mining too.
I'll make frontend tommorow or next week :-)

Keep in mind that pool wallet doesn't have any coins in it, so if you start to mine on 2nd pool you will have to wait until coins get mature.

In config:
Code:
server = "dtc2.graymines.net";
port = "4444";

M.

Hi MarcusDe,

Thank you for your dedication to Datacoin and this new pool!

Color me ignorant, but is is possible to have a different port for this one?

Hi balko14,

Is this a gaming computer?
Make sure your crossfire is off.

And one 280x, at current mining difficulty of 9.84, your CPD should be about 165 (educated guess), and should garner about 250+ a day by my estimation, or 750 for all three.
And with Datacoin buys at 0.00000150 BTC (good liquidity at that level) = 0.001125 BTC, and with Bitcoin at 11,300 -- that would be about $12.71usd generated a day.
Note this is all highly variable -- each factor is subject to change very quickly, especially Datacoin price, as it appears to be in an upward trend.

I look at these market incentives another way.
There are buyers looking for large lots hoping to shake the weak hands of those who have been holding onto large bags for years.

Another way to look at things is by comparing our prime generation with Primecoin.

We've had an uptick and difficulty levels are in the 9.83 range right now compared to Primecoin at 10.98.
Over the last 12 months, XPM has gone from 4 cents to 89 cents.

Both the Primecoin and Datacoin network share very similar performance characteristics yet we've bundled an additional feature to add value.
Time will tell how the market reacts. Maybe someone should work to help shift some of the XPM mining swarm over to our chain.

I think that will help quite a bit.

It would also be good to have a page kept up in realtime showing the profitability of mining XPM versus DTC so we can track our own flippening there.

Hi Chicago,

I'd love to see a realtime profitability monitor on one of our websites, can someone here create that?

And agreed on the XPM mining swarm.
I've laid a bunch of breadcrumbs all over BTCTalk on each XPM thread I could find a couple weeks ago -- I also started to do so on Twitter with some of the older Primecoin Twitter pages and threads.
Some have already garnered fruit. A couple more miners, and even a pool operator are putting in GPU power to test the waters -- another is playing around with Apertus.
The XPM group that is still there are a dedicated bunch that are understandably disappointed at the lack development by the old Primecoin -- we most definitely should reach out with open arms so we can all pool resources and develop Datacoin into the great force she can be.

Also....  I eagerly await the XPM - DTC flippening!!!   Cheesy

Extro I agree to the point that you are added to coinmarketcap.
Still shortage and eventual pump will only come from not enough sell orders, which will cause later big dump.
And no it wasn't all bought up, somebody has pulled off their orders deliberately to create fake scarcity.
On btcpop it's better still, there is manipulation with orders - sometimes pop up thousands, and later there is only 1000 coin to sell at given price.
Real price is between 90-100sats, there is some demand.
Later price can come up - but sell orders should at least have 50K coins on orders, like Slimcoin have always 50-100K orders in sell orders. And some in buy side.

"And no it wasn't all bought up, somebody has pulled off their orders deliberately to create fake scarcity."

Let's assume you are correct about the orders being pulled (which you aren't because I'm in both exchanges HOURLY to literally buy up what I can under a certain pricepoint, if someone had a 100,000 Datacoin sell, I would've literally bought it immediately, guaranteed).

But let's say someone did do that....
What are some other way to look at that instead of "manipulating."
1. Supply and demand.
Demand is clearly going up, so they know they could pull the order then sell at a higher price point later.
That's literally how the market place works.
If you think that's manipulation, literally every stock market, crypto exchange, ebay, amazon, and the whole entire market world is then "manipulating" and needs to be shut down immediately.

"Later price can come up - but sell orders should at least have 50K coins on orders, like Slimcoin have always 50-100K orders in sell orders. And some in buy side."
Why?
If people don't want to sell, that's their right.
I'm certainly NOT selling at this ridiculously low price-point. No way.
3 cents a coin for a global immutable Cypherpunk blockchain that can be customized to fit literally any data entry need?
Insane. The price is stupid low.

You can't make people sell if they don't want to.
I honestly can't see what you are getting at.
Are you wanting to buy and you're frustrated you can't?
Then mine Datacoin.
I've been mining for years. You could've too, and you still can. Datacoin has never been a secret, it came out very publicly YEARS ago.
So please, you're making no sense sir. Think before you post.
And if you honestly believe you have a valid point to make, then take screen shots and formulate an argument that actually makes sense, or frankly you're just being a troll.

I mean sell side became thin, and this is a targetted action, because there was sold only a few thousands on exchange and sell side had about 100K to sell, now it has 1K on a few levels, which is funny, just like 1-2 guys are controlling main supply of a coin.
I dont go into, if it's good or not - I look into such stupid mechanism, which is going on now - it will pump probably to 600-1000 sats, and then somebody will flood sell side again to 100sats.
It's easy to see.
There was never a 100,000K for sale, but there was 25K +
I know because I watch constantly as I'm looking for deals.
The sell side became "thin" because it was bought out.
Look at the trade history.
Someone went in on both exchanges and purchased every Datacoin they could for under 4 cents...
It's that simple.

Can Datacoin be somehow useful in medicine? Like storage for medical history?
Or can be like capsule for other blockchains?

Hi deathmul,

Short answer:
Yes

Long answer:
Play around with http://Apertus.io (very very Beta release)
See what can be done.
You can encrypt, you can put it in raw, and you can link to other chains -- everything you are mentioning and more is possible.
Getting Datacoin to 0.10.X is important to unlock even more features. But even right now those things can be accomplished.

Search "Datacoin" on http://bitFossil.org to see some sample etchings on the Datacoin blockchain Smiley

I know, that people like pump, but c'mon, this guy who removed orders from sell side, is just stupid.
It will pump, on 100-500$ vol, then drop hard.
I don't understand, who normal would do this, but ok...

Hi muf18

The insinuation that someone is trying to pump is a stretch when you look at the trade history on both exchanges.
It looks more like someone just wanted to fill their bags with a high quality coin for under 4 cents each.
Note they cut off their buying spree on both exchanges at the same level.
If they were pumping, they could've gone to a much higher price...

Hello,

I would like to further decentralize our bootstrapping process.

The Datacoin Seeder utility crawls the network and runs a modified DNS server to give fresh active peer addresses to the Datacoin clients.

I'd like a pair of them running on Mainnet and Testnet from various points around the planet.
It would be super to have at least one of the sets in the datacoininfo.org namespace.
The other pair does not need to be in any specific namespace.

Outputs from Datacoin Seeder include a continuously updated plain text file which may be served up on a webpage.

The seeder's main function is to respond to DNS queries and provide fresh IPv4/IPv6 addresses of our nodes.
This improves connectivity for the new users joining our peer swarm as they'll be able to establish more connections very quickly.

If you're interested in running an instance and already have some experience with Sipa's Bitcoin Seeder than this will be an easy task for you.
Otherwise, we're more than happy to help facilitate any mentoring necessary to improve the Datacoin network backbone.

After the new pair of crawlers / seeders are online we will update the Datacoin repository and publish new builds so they are found by clients on startup.

Best Regards,
-Chicago

This sounds great Chicago!

How can we at HugPuddle be of assistance?
We run multiple servers and would be more than willing to host any program that helps Datacoin.
We've never run Sipa's Bitcoin Seeder, and would need some of your mentoring to get things up and running Smiley

Let us know!

Kind Regards,
DatacoinMiner -- AtomSea -- HugPuddle
