This is definitely the year of other altcoins, and by other altcoins, I mean coins with less than 100mUSD marketcap. One of the coins I really see a lot of potential for is Marinecoin. This is a coin that has been around for more than 4 years, and was once the main rival altcoin to bitcoin. They are currently airdropping 450k MTCs for the first 20,000 people who qualify for the airdrop. As far as I'm concerned, it's the deal of 2018.
 

Yes. It is definitely a project worth keeping an eye on. There are a lot of people here who have doubts about marinecoin, but my response to them is, what do you have to lose? If you qualify for the free airdrop, you get 450k MTC without investing a dime of your own money. Even though the coin has been around for some time, it was delisted and presumed dead. It is now being revived, and there is new start-up feel about it. This is the time to get in on it, not in a few years time when its price would definitely have increased. During NEO's ICO, it was being offered for 3 cents, now you can't get one for 100 bucks. Marinecoin is being offered for free right now. Who knows how much you'll have to pay to get one in a few months/years time?

I think holding long term is safer and more certain, although profits will accrue slower. Trading is more seductive but you are most likely to do more damage than good to your bottom line.

The best way is to look for good airdrops and hold them. You risk nothing because you got the coins free, and you don't have to analyse markets or guess or anything.

I'm currently following the marinecoin airdrop. Everybody that qualifies (up to the first 20,000) gets 450000 MTC ... each!. No need to invest your cash or worry about trading. Just qualify, apply, and hodl. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
