Re: Great Giveaway from Cointelegaph and Sponsors!

I love to gamble, and a chance to gamble for free is great!

Thanks

I'd rather not gamble but bet on sport with betvip - seems easier. Besides, 2BTC sound better than $30.

I've checked THIS and it does not seem very difficult.

The closer the contest last day, the easier it is to predict the top five teams. Today seems to be the day to play.

Makes sense, playing at betvip.

Today I discovered video guides for windows users. They are really useful and helpful. Whoever is using Windows, must try it. I highly recommend them.

Thanks.

Video guides can be viewed here:

My web browser, Google Chrome, has some sort of problems with Vimeo. I don't know exactly what it is, my Flash player is ok, but I can't watch the videos which were uploaded on vimeo. Can you upload it on YouTube?
Actually I suggest you to instal another web browser or, at least, reinstall your OS. Maybe it will help.
In my opinion it's not a browser problem. Something with OS or Flash player.

I'll upload guides on youtube this week.
Can't wait man. The week is about to end and I still have a problem with Vimeo.

What kind of hash rate are you guys getting? I'm getting about 220 H/sec with an i7-3930K CPU, does that sound about right?
My E3-1230V3 is mining at the speed of 170H/s.

That's pretty good for 4 cores!
Yep! I thought it would be 20-25% less

Are AML and KYC legitimate laws?
by
Dawnbreaker
on 14/09/2014, 16:03:49 UTC
A lot of people and companies are throwing around "anti money laundering" like it is some kind of legitimate concept to begin with, and by extension, a legitimate law.

First, the Constitution of the United States says that citizens are INNOCENT until proven GUILTY.
When was this reversed?

AML laws basically say that everyone is guilty until they can prove WAY beyond a shadow of doubt, that they are innocent. Everyone must be monitored at all times in order to catch a minute percentage of the people who MAY be criminals.

Why do so many people and most companies accept these laws? All Bitcoin exchanges now have been converted into espionage outlets. If they do not perform, they are shut down. Doesn't anyone wonder why only ONE exchange is doing most of the business in such a huge country as the United States? There is more Bitcoin activity in the US than any other country yet ONE exchange. Coincidence?

Obviously, Satoshi understood the erosion of privacy as a problem and Bitcoin begins to address this. We must not, however, continue speaking and interacting like AML is ok and acceptable. It is a major violation of our rights as citizens and dignity as human beings.
What do you guys think?

"It’s predecessors"
"Everything old becomes new, long ago bazaars"
"Its time to take control back"
"and the fund’s are at their mercy"

The US is probably not the market most likely to widely adopt bitcoin first. Other places like Cyprus, Argentina, Ecuador, Portugal, Spain, will likely see the value of it before the US.

The Kapersky solution sounds like an Orwellian nightmare.. even then no matter if they do enforce a passport.. there will still be ways around it. . and if they don't exist already.. then people will make the tools needed.

Pretty amazing. Five addresses are few though. i'll wait untill they have a HD wallet. Greenaddress with Btchip has an HD wallet. Their system is usable with Android and an On the go adapter. They should go for NFC as well.

Re: Why Do People Believe Bitcoin Will Replace Fiat?
by
Dawnbreaker
on 29/08/2014, 07:14:28 UTC
But in the end, there will simply be no competing against a deflationary currency. When you throw a deflationary currency among inflationary currencies, it starts acting as a black hole absorbing all the wealth in the world.

Exactly, just like how fiat lost out to the gold standard and we're all on the gold standard now.

Transacting in bitcoin is magnitudes easier than transacting in gold, and even USD.

Re: Why people price things in fiat but want BTC - choose one or the other

“But,” the whiners protest, “Bitcoin can’t be used as a unit of account! How can it be a currency when you can’t use it to distinguish a profit from a loss?”

To put this argument in context, let us review the three traditional functions of money. Money is often simultaneously a store of value, medium of exchange, and unit of account. The argument goes that if a good is not useful as a unit of account then it is not money. However, the only necessary relation between these three functions is that a medium of exchange must also be a store of value. A thing can serve as a store of value without being a medium of exchange or a unit of account, and a thing can be a unit of account without being either of the other two. Konrad Graf has written an article developing this point."
