Creating a quantum computer is a massive scientific and engineering challenge. As of 2016, the largest general-purpose quantum computers have fewer than 10 qubits. Attacking Bitcoin keys would require around 1500 qubits. Humanity currently does not have the technology necessary to create a quantum computer large enough to attack Bitcoin keys. It is not known how quickly this technology will advance; however, cryptography standards such as ECRYPT II tend to say that Bitcoin's 256-bit ECDSA keys are secure until at least 2030-2040.
From the bitcoin wiki.

I wonder when Moore's will kick in for the quantum computer development. 1500 qubits might not be that far away with the current developments in nanotechnology.

i downloaded the wallet for windows but when i try to run it i only have 1 active connection that turning on and off every second. anyone knows what is the problem on that?

I saw this issue also pass by in the slack channel. You should check it out.

It can help to delete your addr.dat file in appdata and restart the wallet.
The issue will be fixed in the coming 3.0 wallet.

I also think that with a fire wall you can have max 8 connections, which is sufficient.

I'm mining nexus (NXS) at the moment. Relatively new sha3 altcoin with lots of potential and an active and open community. The coin could definitely rise the coming time and is easily minable in cpu pools. You can also just buy it as it is still cheap.
They have interesting new technologies  (and new ones planned for the future, like an internet independent cube sat space program.).

What miner are you using?

I'm using the miner that is provided on the main nexusearth site.

Have you found any calculators or results in any research? I thought of testing with some VPS, because NXS being in the beginning might be a good idea. What do you think?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. If you have more questions you should join the nexus slack. There is always someone to answer your question.
I think NXS is very much undervalued atm.
