Re: [BRAINSTORM] Any requests for custom extensions/user scripts for BitcoinTalk?
by

Writing a post on another thread, thinking of having a data on active profile.
An extension/script which can show the number of active users within the last 24 hours along with the rank.
For ex:
Total Active Users within last 24 hours- 2500
Legendary- XXX
Hero- XXX
Sr- XXX
Full- XXX
Member- XXX
Jr- XXX
Newbie- XXX

This would be somewhat hard to do without keeping a massive collection of information.

AFAIK, the only services which would be able to do this on the backend side are BitcoinTalk itself, and then maybe BPIP.org (considered they have a last active status with their members I believe)

Would have to wait for BPIP to have some sort of API.

Yea I actually looked at BPIP, thinking they would have something like this but apparently not. They need to add sort options or an API like you said. Trying to scrape all that data on your own would take forever.

I love this thread and would like to get some more ideas since I have a lot of extra time to program. So far the main task seems to be an "auto bumper". I have made a program in Python that logs in and posts to a specified thread with a specified message (support for multiple messages / random selection).

Example:

Login: username, password

Post: topic, random msg => [msg 1, msg2, msg3]

I still need some input for this last part: do you want it to be standalone? Meaning that you would have something to schedule posts? I think that having a program running all the time is a bit of a hassle so I'm unsure what to do at this point. Also, as far as bumping goes, would it be every 24 hours or every 24 hours ONLY if there hasn't been a reply?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Sounds awesome. I agree, needs to be standalone. Should be ever 24 only if no other reply/bump imo... Cheesy

I'm trying to find someone to write a script to help me prune my watchlist - unwatching topics I don't care about, but on boards I should monitor is a real fucking pain in the ass. Open thread, click unwatch, close tab or go back twice. fucking a drives me crazy daily lol. I'd pay  .005 for that one! Tongue

Thanks!

Sure I can definitely do that, wouldn't be intrusive at all as it runs completely headless (using python requests, basically fastest possible), could you PM me some more details on that, I'd love to make it Smiley

Edit:

So far I the script scrapes topic titles + specified links (amazingly takes .5 seconds), example output:
Code:
[["Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover ", 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5167698.0;topicseen'], ["Impossibility of a gambling system (Why methods don't work)", 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5167303.0;topicseen'], ['Windice.io Signature Campaign(1 open slot)', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5118542.0;topicseen'], ['REEE: [US Only] Impeachment Vote', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168188.0;topicseen'], ['How to safely store big amounts of BTC?', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5152308.0;topicseen'], ['Something I noticed when sending USD from Coinbase to my bank account', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5166175.0;topicseen'], ['Bitcoin trading is a big challenge. ', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5163840.0;topicseen'], ['Which countries are more friendlier to crypto?', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5152015.0;topicseen'], ['I think a lot of people just missed their chance', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5113317.0;topicseen'], ['People who gamble are degenerates, change my mind.', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5117386.0;topicseen'], ['Bitcoin can go to 42000$???', 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168445.0;topicseen']]

You currently have 11 topics in your watchlist.

Then I added an "unwatch" function which currently accepts either topic link or topic #, this is just for single use as of now but it's scalable.

Output:

Code:
Successfully unwatched topic: [I think a lot of people just missed their chance]

I can pretty much do anything going forward, whether it's inverse (you only input threads you want to keep) or even keyword oriented. Just let me know!

I had good results with Bovada a few months ago when I played there, decent site and legit from all the threads about them that I've read on Reddit and elsewhere. Also available to Americans the last time I checked if that applies to you.

There's some negative feedback on the Bitcointalk account representing NitrogenSports at the moment (click for link), and as far as I can tell most of the issues raised by the negative feedbacks have never really been fixed, so I can't recommend the site at this time. Used to be decent back when I did use the site though.

Bovada is probably the most popular and trusted poker site out there. They often have good welcome benefits + fast deposits and withdrawals. If you are nervous and aren't familiar with the poker industry: choose Bovada

Edit:  By the way, I just did a quickie glance at some of your recent posts, and you do seem to have a tendency to post a lot of bullshit, just short posts with hardly any substance nor analysis contained therein.

So, yeah "upping your game" could be a beneficial thing for you, in terms of possibly inspiring other members to merit your contributions,.... not in terms of the quantity of your posts, but instead attempting to provide better quality per post that might come from reading more and attempting to actually provide content that is responsive to a member's or multiple members' concerns that you might be able to identify in the threads that you read (beyond just reading the title of the thread or whatever other random thought that comes into your mind that might of might not be relevant to any point(s) raised in the thread), if you were not seeming to bounce around so much from topic to topic in such a short period of time.

Thank you, you have motivated me to work harder and with your advice I was finally able to find a topic to post about that wasn't already done 100x over. Besides my other shit topics, I made my best one and people actually liked it. Here is the thread if you want to look, inspired by you of course. I don't want this to sound like I'm asking for merit, please DONT merit me because that's not the point. I just wanted to share how your response has affected and helped me, I hope you have a great day Smiley

If we have already applied that means you don't want us in the campaign right? Is this temporary or forever?

Maybe a bit of a bias here: of course you think you deserve your rank, considering you are a legendary user.

Get the fuck out of here.

You are trying to find bias in a post that is based on substance and logic.

Do you actually understand that there was a system, less than 2 years ago, that allowed members to rank up based on activity, which is partly a product of post count and time?

Do you believe that those members who ranked up during that time and under those rules don't deserve their rank?  If anyone is biased, it is you, and you are both envious and unable to accept prior historical rules that were different but carry on into the present.  Instead, what the fuck do you want?  You want to start over?  That would make even less sense.

Okay, nice wait to start with "get the fuck out of here". I'm not trying to find anything, that's where you seem to be confused. I have no idea what you are referring to when you say "substance and logic" without providing either.

Yes, I am aware of the old merit system, paternalism at it's finest.

Never said anything about not deserving a rank, nor starting over. "you are both envious and unable to accept prior historical rules", how many fallacies can we rack up here? Classic Ad hominem.

So what exactly did you accomplish here besides ranting and blindly spewing insults? Nothing, so I suggest you try again and provide some substance.

You are pointing out nonsense because of your own inner and seemingly unjustified resentment about history.

Again, you are appealing to emotion. Not going to even start on this one.

The rest of your post consists of more circular reasoning and agreements which aren't really relevant here. Deciding to cut the post here.

A deserved user is a deserved one, no matter which rank is. A non-deserved legendary is a shit user, that built up shit reputation from shit posts.

This doesn't even make any sense?

Quote
Merit system works perfectly so far, and nearly completely prevent spammers to rank up. They all run out of their sMerits after their past waves of merit abusements, and after the ban wave, there are very less available sMerits from abusers.

What exactly does "works perfectly" even mean?

Quote
A legitimate user does not equal to a good user. Why a legitimate user should rank up if continuous make non-sense, low quality posts? Making non-sense posts is nearly the same spam posts. Posts that are just a little bit longer does not equal to higher quality, and more constructive.

Again, this doesn't make any sense to me. You just restate the same circular reasoning you used above, what is even your point here?

You are literally just restating my quotes at this point... Again, what point are you trying to make besides pointing out the obvious?

Quote
IMO, there is no reason to be jealous with old generations, especially shitposters, instead you should focus on your journey, your contributions, to build up your name, and reputation in the forum. Then, you will become a better user than them, and forum community will do realise who you are.

Quote
It's not like older members had a choice in this new system, nor did they know it was going to be implemented. They earned their rank under the old system, which may have been less difficult but they still did. There is really no point in comparing the past to the present, as it's a completely different situation. There is really no point in being upset about this, as it's just complaining at this point. The new system is harder, but it's still doable if you put in the effort. The reason a lot of us are stuck is because we spend to much time lamenting the "older members", while we could be contributing to the forum.

This actually made me laugh out loud at how little effort you put into your response, you are no better than those yobit spammers.
