Re: New type of scammers in telegram! Keep your bitcoins safe! Watch out!
by

on 11/10/2018, 21:30:01 UTC
Be very careful of this new type of scammers in Telegram. They use the names and pictures of beautiful girls. The way they operate is that they show themselves in the telegram chat of whatever coin you are into. They don’t directly private message you, but they say something to call your attention or somebody else’s attention to start a conversation and eventually take the conversation private.

More in the following article:

https://medium.com/@TheGoldenOrder/stay-alert-for-this-new-type-of-scammers-in-telegram-6b970e240e8d

WATCH OUT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCAMMERS!

Spread the word, we need to protect ourselves from them!.

I've read this Medium post entirely and it is very interesting. It is called social engineering scam. Good to know all tricks these scammers are up to. If they are doing that it means a lot of people are falling in these traps, so every warning is very welcome.

Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage
by
DeepestOnion
on 09/10/2018, 14:14:39 UTC
There could be a new coin if a part of the community continues mining on the legacy (before the fork) chain. The fork is going to invalidate blocks mined by equipment that is currently holding ~45% of the hashrate, I don't see this mining equipment just going to trash and miners using it just accepting to throw away their now main-chain-useless miners, so in my opinion, there is a very high chance the legacy chain will be maintained hence giving birth to a new coin.

Keep in mind that, unlike , for example, Bitcoin Cash, Sia coin has very special purpose, and for
that purpose team that would make new coin would also have to build software for storage network, too

Otherwise they'd mine coin that noone actually needs

Exactly, a new fork coin would be totally hilarious unless someone would build up the infrastructure to provide the same storage facility as SIA. People get so much lost into the crypto casino that they totally forget the reasons of the various coins to exist - at least they should remember that for the coins which actually have have a well defined reason to exist.

Re: Knowledge from the bearish run
by

Let's recap the lesson from the recent bearish run, before u invest in any cryptocurrency.

1. make sure u do an intensive research,
2. never stop believing in urself and when things go wrong, u will learn a big lesson and be happy u did your best than following a footstep u know nothing about,

Good luck

Well, I would add the suggestion to avoid buying an altcoin when it has already surged 10X or 100x since then the risk to buy the top is too high, as well as to avoid selling an altcoin after that it has already lost 90%-99% since you would likely be selling the bottom.

Scams everywhere now. Greedy ICOS that for some reason need 20 million dollars for a small project, Ridiculous.  Greed everywhere, thousands of coins that serve no purpose.  This is so far removed from satoshi's vision.  Premine bullshit  scams like onion.  Projects that have no reason to be on a fucking blockchain except to cash in money on the hype.  We need another fucking crash to clear out these shitcoins and scams, and you greedy mfer ICO devs are the cause of this bullshit.

Did you want Far West? That was Satoshi's view by the way. And Far West you get.
People often forget that freedom is actually freedom, which mean also scammers and gamblers are free to play their cards.

Happy?

I know I am, if I won't have to read long rants anymore  Grin

That is actually a quite interesting analysis. Mining echosystems are getting more and more complex and it is a big challenge to discover the industry's best practice. The alternative in some cases could be to see the whole project fail, so I think such an analysis is welcome.

Remember we started at $190 at the beginning of the year? Now the price is $18: https://www.coinranker.net/cryptocurrency/neo

That's great! It means buying now ensures a 10X over investment as soon as NEO achieves again ATH. And unless the project fails and or the whole crypto world collapses or the world will be hit by an asteroid or a solar flair or all these things together - that will happen one day for sure. So better relax and invest.

Re: ⚡⭐⭐ [ANN] DISPATCH LABS – Scalable smart-contract platform for infinite data
by

on 27/09/2018, 20:39:10 UTC
When I knew about this project, I understood that this was what I needed. And when I found more about it, I understood that I would use and recommend to others.
It's very good that you paid attention to this project. I want to ask you, have you already purchased a token for this project or are you just thinking of buying it?

If you have read the litepaper, the toke has not been released yet and I don't think it already exist until late of 2018. I it's part of their strategy to avoid getting it dumped in the market in this bear period.

The strategy of the team will surely help them and its price to avoid dumping and I have a strong feeling that dispatch labs will become more successful in the coming months.

Sometimes, it's really good to see some sort of informations regarding the progress in the development of the platform so that people will understand that the project will be in a right direction towards the success. But if the team can't provide on this, perhaps it's hard to conclude the outcome of the project because it needs to have a constant updates.

I too would much appreciate a page which I could check now and then for keeping up with the updates without having to lose too much time - as following BCT threads or telegram chats implies.

<...> Well, a message with zero words is really minimalistic indeed. I wonder if there are other gifs with zero words which which have got merited. <...>
Here’s an example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg31165706#msg31165706. It’s jpg, but serves the purpose, and it got 14 sMerits. The referenced thread is rather prolific with these, but it is a rather particular ecosystem.

OK, I thought I had seen all in this forum but THIS...
Until now I have been generally positive about the merit system - even though it is not very favourable for me personally, but I can live with that - I thought it would really help the forum by separating quality from garbage.
But then... you have posted this.

good move to have minimum 1 merit to be abble to upgrade from newbie to Jr, but if you just have to post a message like this to earn a merit, it's not so difficult...   Cheesy

@the Phamarcist:
First as a joke, but you'll agree that given the difficulty of collecting merits on local boards, your donation is a little inappropriate...

Well, a message with zero words is really minimalistic indeed. I wonder if there are other gifs with zero words which which have got merited. We may discover that saying something is possibly NOT the best strategy to raise in rank Smiley If confirmed, that could be a terrific discovery for all those shitposters who cannot write in English but they do post nevertheless in abbundance. Suddenly they may chose to adopt this strategy which doesn't require being able to communicate with words and sentences.
Let's get ready for a tsumani of GIFs on the forum - Lol Cheesy

This is a quite terrible story. You supposedly made the mistake to buy at the top of the market. It happens. The only mistake that you have to avoid now is to sell everything at the bottom. This would be the final catastrophe. Now you just have to patience for the day where the market will go up again. It wost likely will, in some months or in some years. And then you will have your money back. And possible more.

Is it really necessary to pimp the name of Bitcoin to give a better image to your new coin? I mean, there are so many different names one can invent by combining the letters of the alphabet. To use the word Bitcoin is deceiving, since I understand that Bitcoin Supreme is not a fork of Bitcoin. I'd be thinkimg at a rebranding in your place.

I'm fully endorsing the new change, which I have always thought should have been introduced even earlier. There are really too many spamming accounts and the lowest level spam has actually risen in the past months. I'm speaking about those posts which have NOTHING to do with the threads they are posted in - and they are probably made by the way of bots and they pollute every thread.
I don't care if I'm becoming a Newbie again. My posts are probably too average to get merited, but that's it, I take it easy and I'm quite indifferent to rank. It would be much much worse to see all those herds of shitposters saying nothing often out of place and in a broken English ranking up to Legendary status and thus turning this whole rank system into a total farce.

Re: The market is going down, is it a good time to hold the coin?
by
DeepestOnion
on 10/09/2018, 11:43:54 UTC
I now have $ 500 in capital. Is this the right time to hold the coin. and what kind of coin should I hold? I need some advice now, Because according to my judgment this will be the momentum for altcoin to explode in the end of 2018

I would advise you to hold bitcoin if you dont have any. Holding at least 80 percent bitcoin is wise, at least for me. Trade if you must to, but be careful. I like monero as a one of the few good alts.

Bitcoin is of course the safest option, but it won't give you 100X as the right alts could give if you are able to pick the right ones. Some coins like DeepOnion have lost almost 99% from ATH, they could be an exciting gamble.

Re: I LOVE PANIC SELLERS
by

People go here and there spooling, spreading and propagating FUD to get on peoples emotions and to put them on PANIC MODE just so they sell their BTC, and you know what, PANIC SELLERS in these industry are LAZY, they can't and won't research and understand after lots of rise and fall in these year that the KING of all digital currencies is just going through a phase.

I personally Love PANIC SELLERS, and I hope there can be a section on these platform where they register so that people like me can contact them to buy CHEAP from they..

GRACIAS PANIC SELLERS, MUCH LOVE TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE BLESSING FUTURE MILLIONAIRES WITH YOUR COIN

Everyone sooner or later has gone through the stage of being a panic seller - as well as a FOMO buyer. But intelligent people learn from their mistakes.

Re: Are old coins no more profitable

There is a lot change going on in the coin market cap top 200 this days and I don't know if I'm the only one who's aware of it. Could you believe new (4months-7month ago) listed token/coin claimed much slot in the CMC top #200 list. Are those old project which belong to the spot claimed no more profitable?

Your opinion Smiley

Fashion pays a big role in this. New coins/tokens trigger phantasies in investors and opportunities in speculators, and so they can easily get pumped. But sooner or later they get eventually dumped. And older coins - the good ones - will strike back Smiley

Re: Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit
by
DeepestOnion
on 02/09/2018, 10:54:08 UTC
But what if we all start on 0 merit? Even if you are a senior, hero or legendary account. Let see who will reign and go on top? The high rank is already got advantage from lower bracket like us. Some high ranked is useless too when in comes of quality and constructive post.

What about dmerit ( delete merit ) lol ? Just adding some options.

These sort of options have been already discussed and the conclusion is that they make no sense. The merit system as it is has a lot of problems, but without it the problems for the forum would be even bigger, and random changes to the system would also only make things worse. Not an easy problem to deal with.

Re: Silk Road Bitcoin Wallet Activates Again, Huge Dump Anticipated by the Community
by
DeepestOnion
on 31/08/2018, 08:50:21 UTC
That article is clickbait. It is a waste of time. It is full of confusion. It seems to be about some speculation on Reddit about movement of bitcoins that may be related to Silk Road, or perhaps Mt. Gox, or perhaps Craig Wright. The article shows a bunch of unrelated addresses and transactions along with some random posts and then talks about how they are all related, or not.

Yes, you are right. The article has a lot of missing info. For example I don't get what's the link with the SilkRoad wallet that has 111k BTC in it?

These are mere speculations on some old subject that are plan click-bait.

I agree, the article has too much missing info. Of course for speculators it could be seen as scary scary to see such big amounts of BTC been moved around, but isn't Bitcoin supposed to be a currency, ie money that people should freely move around? It is paradoxical that this is creating fear in the community instead of joy Smiley

by
DeepestOnion
on 23/08/2018, 23:31:12 UTC
The problem of trading merit is not only due to the people eager to buy it, but also to some of the high ranking people who got a lot of smerits to start with which they would have never managed to get by the way of their REAL merit. The low quality of some of these people is now confirmed by the fact that they are selling those smerits which they didn't deserve at all. They would never sell them if they had earned them by the way of good posting.

Re: I think bitcoin-real will be better than bitcoin
by
DeepestOnion
on 21/08/2018, 23:07:47 UTC
I know it may sound crazy but here is an article that gives 7 reasons why bitcoin-real is better than bitcoin. honestly, I have always thought bitcoin is a standard crypto until I read this article. check it out.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@em777/7-reasons-why-bitcoin-real-is-a-better-version-of-bitcoin

yes but than there are many more reasons why bitcoin is better than bitcoin-real also. The main reason being that i have never heard of bitcoin-real and it has a slim chance of ever being adopted by more people than you, your neighbor, brother and the old guy down the road.

Sorry, but the old guy in the road is only using cash, his Brother is deep into EOS and the neighbor is just piling up little gold bars.
The real issue is adoption and without adoption you don't exist. To use the "brand" of Bitcoin, just adding a "real" won't help. IMHO.
