The 0.1 btc haven't left my account and the transaction is marked as failed. So my test gave a result - even if it wasn't the one I wanted.

I tried to to withdraw 1 BTC 2 days ago, before the news broke that it wouldn't work - and I got the money back today, balance restored.
But I tried today to withdraw 0.1 BTC, and I just now see that it has failed after about 2 hours of "Waiting to be processed".

I've been recredited for my 1 BTC from Feb 11, so I also made a test transfer (0.1 BTC this time). An hour later and it is also still waiting to be processed.

Made a withdrawal this morning (UK time) and it seemed to work fine - at Bitstamp it's marked as "Finished" - but it never appeared in the wallet. I sent them a support ticket after a couple of hours, but no reply yet.

It's a 1 BTC transfer so I'm not sweating too much (just happy it wasn't 10 BTC, I made one of those last week).

It's probably going to be all right, but I wish they'd post a statement or something. Also, for a few hours I suspected I'd misspelled the wallet address somehow, and there is no way to verify on Bitstamp which address I used.

It's all Bitcoin and it's all ASICs so I don't have much choice than to stick with it anyway
I use 2x 60Gh Butterfly Singles + 2x 7Gh Butterfly Jalapenos. I ordered them back in May so that sucked, but once they arrived it was a lot of fun to tinker with.

I'm totally expecting Bitcoin to go up a lot in the future - I remember this summer: "will BTC ever reach $200 again?", "I'm quitting, I should have invested when it was $10", and of course "what if it ever reaches $1000?". I'm pretty sure we'll look back on spring 2014 the same way, more or less.

Altcoins are fine, but I think BTC will be considered the "big, slow and steady" in the future, a bit like we think of gold today. So yeah, I'm sticking with it. To the moon, right?

Just to clear this up

Mining with a constant hashrate it seems like each month brings in about 50-60% compared to the previous month. In late November I got a lot of new equipment, so I knew December would be good, and it turned out to cover my rent with a big margin. This happened again in January but just barely, so it seems reasonable to expect February to fall under the line.

However, if there is a big enough price spike then I could get lucky again - also if I decide to buy new equipment of course.

OK so I like keeping track of total mined BTC every month, and just see what that is in fiat at the end of the month.
This is the second month in a row (and quite possibly the last one ever) that I made enough to pay my rent with for that month. 

I'd do a 10 week Dollar cost averaging and put everything in Bitcoin.

My first thought was to make it a 10th anniversary party in 2019. Pay 0.01 BTC now, party like this in 5 years time.

That sounds like a smart move financially, but there are some obvious advantages to making it a private (and privately funded) party. Basically: we can do what we want, and invite whomever we want

I just wrote to my parents and told them they can't trust the price if they use SEK. I also took it on me to explain why the price is inflated, don't know if that was too heavy for them
