Re: Offical end of ETH mining forever thread...

My most memorable moment was when someone sent a transaction with a crazy high transaction fee in the millions of USD and ethermine hit the block and my pending balance jumped like crazy! a couple of day's work in a minute (if I remember correctly).

91C is perfectly fine as these cards regularly hit 100C memory temp.

Phil how is it you keep buying cards, you're inspiring a lot of confidence! I know you have good power, but isn't the uncertainty super high right now?

1.4 from ~500 shares found shown on the miner in 8 hours, only ~100 showed on the pool.

1.41 error 1020 and connection is dropped by the pool whenever a share is found.

Just some feedback. Best of luck Lolliedieb!

1.4 has issues, from ~500 shares found shown on the miner in 8 hours, only ~100 showed on the pool.

1.41 has issues too error 1020 is shown whenever a share is found and connection is dropped by the pool.

Again, miner issue due to other miners working fine with the same pool.

Going for another 12 card rig.

will do:

 7x a5000 = 700
 3x a4000 = 180
 2x a2000 =  80

total = 960mh

cost = a new car Grin

should use 2100 watts

I am finding it hard to get my hands on anymore A5000, A2000 is relatively easy to find.

Mind sharing what brand is your A5000? mine is Gigabyte and its impossible for it to do that memory speed.

Here are my settings:

They are super solid cards! Managed to get to get them a while ago when a distributer was ordering them in bulk packaging for a data center project.

Cost around $2200 each after taxes.

not sure if coinbase has an upper limit as to how many you can register.
okay I have 2 yubi sticks but only did one.
I will look into doing the second stick right now.
A two second google surfing showed that you can link up to 5 YubiKey tokens to your account.

The only thing I would add to the backup security key is a sealed CSV file + non-combustible paper. Btw, a couple of years ago, I also had a homemade security key on my keychain in one copy (but for a PC) and this gave me a lot of trouble since the password entry option was disabled, (a little nostalgia).

Did second key.

Now back to tracfone to try for my phone number  restoration.

And they said try in another day but I got a direct phone number which should help the wait.

edit number 1:

My 2x pny are now hooked up 93 and 94 = 187 mh the rig pulls 447 watts at the wall.

edit  I gave myself my 4000th merit with an alt , as I wanted to see the 4000 and not get it broken  by some one giving 2 merits  4000 Grin

Your cards run way cooler than mine, here are my cards:

would a 10% drop in power result in a 15C decrease? I will try. My cards are made by Gigabyte, but they say nvidia for some reason.

Re: Rx580 still good?
by
DesertMiner
on 26/12/2021, 02:43:21 UTC
Whether its a good choice or not, it depends on the condition and price you bought them for. The 6600 xt series is consumes around half less, around 60w instead of 120w for the 580.

Also it will depreciate less as its considerably more powerful for gaming.

If you're wondering about reliability, I too have many 8GB cards continuously running from 2017 perfectly fine with no issues whatsoever.

Re: 6G graphic cards still future proof?
by
DesertMiner
on 15/12/2021, 12:30:46 UTC
Can you still build mining rigs with 6gb GPUs like gtx 1660s in 2022? For how long can this graphic cards keep up with mining? I'm sure they are better option over rx580 4gb, what do you think?
yes for sure but eth will switch to pos at june 22, you have less option after that and many gpu miner will dumping their gpu before or after that, million of used gpu hit market

and pc gamer will got they want after that, some miner will mine on other algo / coins, so sad to say this

One of the ways in which devs can combat asics is by using memory capacity intensive algos, so the higher your memory capacity is the more options you'll have.

And yes you should be fine for the two years at least if eth does not succeed with the POS transition, google eth DAG calculator for more info.

There are certain inherent flaws in POS compared to POW when it comes to consensus but eth has some of the best brains behind it.

Been hearing ETH is going POS since 2017 and yet here we are.

Don't get me wrong, I wish them luck and really hope they will pull off the POS transition and hope they pull it properly.

Because if they don't its going to be the biggest rocket ship explosion ever.

A 3090 with Memory from other than Micron?
by
DesertMiner
on 08/12/2021, 15:07:52 UTC
I heard from a fellow miner that there are 3090s out there with memory from Samsung doing 131Mh at 330w manufactured by a certain AIB, I told him that's impossible as all 3090s use GDDR6X which is manufactured by Micron. The only possibility I could think of is a 3090 running the fastest GDDR6 memory from Samsung with custom bios and timings.

Could this card exist?

Re: Which NVIDIA RTX 3060/3070 model suitable for mining

You can find Asus 3070s Non LHR brand new for around $1300, or you can go for the 6800 XT at around the same price. If it was up to me I would get the 3070s as Nvidia cards tend to store value better over time.

Re: cpu mining Raptoreum

I try to mine Raptoreum right now, but I can only get 2100 H/s out of my 5950X.... I have absolutely no idea what's the problem and there is absolutely no support or anything...

I downloaded cpuminer-gr-1.2.4.1 for windows.
I downloaded the config.json from my pool.
I sarted cpuminer batchfile - anything else to do?

Make sure your miner is running 32 threads when it opens, and make sure you run it as an administrator.

Re: What will be the Fate of miners in 2022
by
DesertMiner
on 02/12/2021, 03:30:51 UTC
Nobody knows what will happen.

The price can trade sideways for the next 12 months and it’s bad for miners since the difficulty will also keep going up. So our profits will keep going lower and lower.

Price can also go down which would make us make less money exponentially since hashrate is high while price is dropping.

Or ETH can go to something crazy like $10K and it’ll be a very profitable year like in the past. The difficulty will increase but so will the price.

This right here is the best reply.

Yes, A4000, A5000 and the recently launched A4500 are being used in mining as they do not have a hashrate limiter. A6000 is not used because of its price/performance.

The A4000 prices recently shot up from $1100 to $1600 Locally. A4000 has the worst cooler being a single slot blower card. A5000 has a fantastic cooler.

On ETH:

A4000 does 61-63Mh at 140w.

A5000 does 102MH at 230w.

A4500 is expected to do around 80-85Mh/s.

In gaming A4000 is a little slower than a 3070, A5000 is slower than a 3080.
