This post is from two days ago.

Now that bitcoin is a tradeable asset on CME, it is fully susceptible to market manipulation. So it is going down in order for all the people who bought high, panic and sell to those people who are short, so that the bulls can come back and pump the price back up, rinse and repeat :-)

X10 profit has been down quite a lot on Nicehash. Less than $40 now.

Imho, we should stop thinking in US$.
We should start thinking in BTC.

42000 USD investment at 40 USD profit per day x 6 miners, at best looking at minimum 6 months before your miners pay for themselves, assuming cheap electricity and no breakdowns.

Re: Stop Loss Trading

Stop loss is very important in trading because that feature will be reduce the loss and to minimize the risk. And percentase of stop loss should be less than take profit, for example stop loss 20% and take profit 35%. Stop loss very important in crypto trading because fluktuasion of crypto so high.

At the same time 20% move in a cryptocurrency price is not unusual and almost guarantees that your stop loss will be hit. Yes however it does limit your losses to the stop loss level.

Re: Why are transactions much faster now?
by
DexterRock
on 26/01/2018, 11:30:46 UTC
Today I set a transaction with the lowest fee and I was warned with a notice that with such a fee, the transaction could take days to be confirmed. I confirmed it because I wasn't in a hurry at all. That was about a couple of hours ago and it already has 8 confirmations.

I've checked mempool's unconfirmed transactions and there are about 72.000 whereas that figure hasn't been below 200.000 for quite a while.

Any specific reason for that? Has the price anything to do with it?

When BTC hit the news in December and hit heights of 19000USD many people jumped in trying to get a piece of the pie, created accounts on exchanges etc etc and new users = new wallets = more transactions.
BTC transaction fees went sky high as a result, high fees caused people to reconsider making small transactions , less small transactions means lower fees. BTC price dropped, interest dropped off, number of small transactions decreased = back to normal.

Re: Can you start from zero cash and make a living with the opportunities in crypto?
by
DexterRock
on 26/01/2018, 10:53:01 UTC
Is not my case, I do have some savings so I didn´t start from absolutely nothing, but I had not much to start with. I am having a decent go at cryptos and I think it may be possible to make a living... What could be a good strategy?
you can actually start from no penny and make it big in cryptocurrency. Many people here are completely living on rendering services for bitcoin and some have never put a penny of their into investments! Bitcoin has returned thousand of dollars to people that start from faucet, twitter and facebook campaign, bitcointalk signature and avatar campaign and other social media campaign. Some of this people are now living large on what they have earn from the foregoing services without putting money into trading and investment.

I am completely new to crypto.

My plan is:
1) Learn to use the tools, wallets, create accounts on exchanges
2) Start investing small: pick several good projects and join ICO (invest 100 USD per project into like 10 projects) budget approx 1000USD
3) Learn about mining and build an altcoin mining GPU rig (investment about 3000-4000 USD)
4) After 6 months evaluate the ROI and if in profit, re-invest into new ICO's and more hash power
5) Rinse and repeat

Re: Do you believe all muslims are bad?
by
DexterRock
on 26/01/2018, 09:28:54 UTC
first of all.the word bad does not apply to a religion. It applies to a individuals. What you do defines who you are.I have lived in a community populated by muslims and they are kind and loving we  chat together and help each in every way we can.About seventy percent of my friends are muslims and they are the best i have ever had

I agree. There is no such a thing as 'bad people' by religion, by race, or by country they were born in. There are bad people out there of most religions, races and places where they are from. Such as there are good people of all races, religions and background. Simply putting all people of one religion into one basket and calling them 'bad ' because they are XYZ is not cool.

is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

@jonathan6655321 Did you invest all your money into BTC?  You posted this thread in October 17, when BTC was pretty cheap, way before the insane run to 19000 USD.

Re: Bitcoin is NOT DEAD
by
DexterRock

The price action of bitcoin is basically dependent on supply and demand. When BTC hit 19000 highs, many early investors became millionaires. Many people got 5 - 20x or more return on investment. Many cashed out. Not many people bought at this level. On top of that you have bitcoin futures trading, with many short positions open by traders on CME. Yes partly it was a game played by the big whales.
Many people sold their Bitcoins in panic at lower rates then they bought and now we can see that the price has rebounded, right after big whales bought at the price they wanted below 10000, at much lower rates than bitcoin is worth. Now that bitcoin futures are on CME exchange we can see the commitment of traders report weekly and follow where the big money goes.

Is it profitable to buy a S7 or S9

There is a mining section. Read. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2415854.0

Depends what you want, make fast $$ or get in on the cryptocurrency game, mine a bit and invest... ROI can be 2-6 months or more depending what you mine, current difficulty, your running costs, BTC price...

Re: What if bitcoin falls to 0.01$
by
DexterRock
on 17/01/2018, 14:35:38 UTC
Things are not looking good and cmc is losing market cap of 100 million everyday. If this continues bitcoin will be back to 1000$ soon, then the real panic will start and people will sell their coins.

What if it reaches to the point of 0.1 or 0.01$? Will you buy it?

What will be future of alts if btc reaches 100$ or 10$? Will they vanish?

BTC will never go down that low, there is simply too much adoption and at certain price buyers will be back.

Who knows if scam or FUD but whilst it's making people money...do they care? The floor may disappear at any time but that's the risk we take.

TRON is cheap now. Is it good to buy or is it going to 0?

BTC is old, slow currency with expensive fees. There are many other cryptos that will rise at a greater rate, with better anonymity like DEEP ONION, rated #1 privacy coin....
My 2 cents worth.

Without BTC and ETH the other cryptocurrencies are not worth a 0.01c... So whilst you can have your ONIONS, I do not think they will be anywhere near the level of BTC adoption anytime soon.

Hello everyone,

This obviously isnt better than simply buying/selling at the right times but it gets you out of a bad situation / mistake.
Let me know what you guys think, tell me if im an idiot. Cheesy

Trading bitcoin on a margin is a risky business. Do you get an automatic margin call when your account reaches a certain threshold? +/- 2500 USD move in bitcoin price can happen pretty fast. Opening an order in opposite direction is ok to hedge but it depends how it is set up. Are you sure it can be filled? What if the price drops a lot more,  beyond your open hedging orders?

Re: what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down?
by
DexterRock
on 17/01/2018, 13:19:26 UTC
Nothing happens to it. Its just like saying what happens to my favourite game show when power goes out. Nothing.
Your bitcoin will still be where you left it, just that you can't access it.

If things are so bad that the internet goes down, your bitcoins is the last thing you will be worried about...

Nice setup indeed! Im working on establishing my very own little mining rig aswell. Just wondering wether this is profitable atm? The market is crashing and everybody smells blood! So far I have been using Awesome Miner for my single GTX 1080 atm and Im getting around 6-7$ a day. What are you hovering around on your single cards and in total? And what software do you mine with? Smiley

Between now when BTC is 11000 and when it was 15000 a week ago what is the difference in $/day you get mining with a single GPU GTX 1080?

Re: SELL EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
by
DexterRock
on 17/01/2018, 11:28:37 UTC
I must admit....I'm getting nervous. I bought in early 2014 & have held through all that has happened since. In December, I was worth more than I've ever been before, or ever will be again by a long shot. Today my coins are only worth half that as you all know, but if I sold them all now, I'd still have more money than ever before. I can't bear to think of having had so much & losing it all. Really undecided as what to do now. I suppose the sensible thing to do would be sell at least some of them.

If you have bought in 2014 and not sold at 19000 why are you even considering selling now? It would think if you did not need the money at 19000 then you surely should keep it in coins. Noone knows if the price will hold above 10000 but selling out of panic you are only feeding your coins to the whales who shorted bitcoin futures on CME.

Buy buy buy buy buy.   If you notice it’s stopped falling, climbed a bit and back down but not below $10000.

I believe $10,000 is the new floor

It does seem to be holding above 10000 however noone knows where the real ''floor'' is, panic does not help and only makes things worse. Imagine if all the people who jumped in as investors decide to get out now and pull out their money?

Re: alll coin going down. what should we do?
by
DexterRock
on 17/01/2018, 10:09:14 UTC
This is very simple to answer. HODL, don't do anything stupid this moment because the only thing that is best to do right now is to buy a lot of good coins in the market and hold them for at least 1-4 weeks and after that then you will be deciding if you will sell it or not. There is no need to panic because this is just a normal bloodbath.

its easy to say hodl but its actually hard for most of us including me to hold knowing that all  coins are still decreasing especially bitcoin and they seems to become stagnant for a verry long time until now. in my case i cant really hodl for a much longer time because crypto is my only source of income right now because ive been decided to quit my job lately ue to the fact that i can earn much in investing and trading in crypto when compared to working outside for a minimum salary wage.

Well if crypto is your only source of income you should be buying and not selling right now. By selling right now you are only realising your loss from the decline. However if you buy now you are investing for future gains when the price goes up.

Actually all can be predicted by the experts,If for us who are beginners, to find out very difficult,And this is the season of bitcoin down, invest as much as possible.

This is the season of bitcoin down? Come on man... I agree there is no need for panic, but no, not everything can be predicted by ''experts'' and no, there is no such a thing as ''season of bitcoin down''.
