Quick question that I'm sure many of you have solved various ways.  Any thoughts on the safest way to power the 7th GPU(1070)/riser with an EVGA 1300 G2?  Custom adapter cable? Molex to 6+2?  Two of the VGA cables have a split connection from the PSU, but I didn't want to connect two cards and two risers split twice from the same cable.

Thanks for any quick thoughts.

There are dual molex to pcie 6+2 adapters; if you use both molex cables 2 different molex cables(from the psu each from a different molex port) into one adapter it should be able to handle 160 watts.  I would keep it below 135 if you use this method.

Thanks for the reply, fullzero.  I had to do something a little more taxing due to a bad riser.  One of my risers is molex and I'm currently feeding that directly from the PSU with no desire to use a SATA adapter.

Is the following a terrible shorterm solution (until I can get another working 6 pin riser)?

MOLEX Riser (Zotac 1070 powered from VGA on card)
MOLEX <   MOLEX to 6 PIN adapter
PSU (1300 G2) <                                                    > 6 PIN Y to dual 6+2 > 6 PIN Riser + Zotac 1070
MOLEX <   MOLEX to 6 PIN adapter

Two molex from the PSU.  One feeds a molex riser with a 1070 in that riser (powered from VGA on the card) as well as one half of the dual molex to 6 pin adapter.  The other half is fed clean from the PSU.  All cards are at 125 PL.  It's currently running but I'd like a second opinion.

Change Log:
v0016
auto repair xorg: fixes single GPU not OCing bug (will auto detect / repair / reboot if using a single GPU or the xorg file has otherwise been damaged)
implemented Maxximus007 suggestion to enable expect-less oneBash
  Thanks Maxximus007  Smiley
powerlimit not setting bug is fixed (even for very slow USB keys)
added Teamviewer with oneBash YES / NO switch to enable / disable it
added openssh-server switch in oneBash YES / NO switch to enable / disable it
added Desktop Sharing RDP program (enable / setup with GUI on the taskbar)
added ifconfig output to the top of mining process (easy to get rig IP)
  added EWBF v3.4
  added Claymore v9.5
added EWBF and Claymore version selectors to oneBash
added EXTENTION_ARGUMENTS for each Ethash COIN (to add additional Claymore parameters)
  increased Claymore stability
  reduced boot time
will now work with slow USB keys
VTC COIN selection with VTC or BTC payout
    ZEN COIN selection
    NICE COIN selection

Fantastic work, fullzero. Tons of new features here, but I'm personally grateful for the continued under the hood optimization. Hopefully, the improvements to deal with slow USB sticks will help a lot of posters that may not have realized their USB write speeds were hindering them.

Well that's just great. Just don't get why everything turns on and looks like its working and the display just wont connect.

Did you attempt reseating your RAM?  Not familiar with your motherboard but it should give you an indication if there is a memory issue.  On the ASUS z270 board there is a memok LED/Button for example.  CPU fan will still spin up as you describe but won't POST.

Could someone tip me off to a WiFi dongle or WiFi setup that's working well for them with nvOC?  I wasn't able to use NDISWrapper to install the windows driver for my old Netgear dongle (not sure if that was my inexperience or a technical issue).  Or perhaps, would wireless adapters work better?  Thanks.

As a lot of members have had problems with various 16gb USB keys this would solve that problem; although I think I can cut down the size more and ensure it will work with all (claimed) 16gb drives.

The main reason I don't want to switch to 32 is many users already have 16gb USBs and switching to 32 would force them to buy another USB key.

I will start recommending only 32gb drives from now on.

I would say that is the best route.  No reason to switch things up over night, but perhaps a slow transition.  The USB sticks are less than a half percent of the rig cost and the project is still rather young.  Of course, it all depends on if you see any value in the extra space.

Everything is up and running. Thanks so much OP. Do you have a wallet I can donate something to?

Popular sentiment but he won't take anything right now!  Unbelievable for what fullzero is offering and the intimate level of support.  We're going to have to organize a mine for fullzero day at some point.  In the meantime, I would say either mine his addresses on your own for a day or perhaps leave his address on the XMR CPU plus.

At this point you've got 15 GB worth of free space to work with IMO - it seems like most 16GB drives end up being just shy of the total size of the image.  Might as well consider 32GB drives to be the standard and put some more useful stuff on the image!

Moving to 32GB drives is an interesting thought.  It would (seemingly) open up a lot of new future avenues if there is no technical limitation I am ignorant to.

Btw, I'm all setup and running with the first rig (with 2 cards until more come), fullzero.  Thanks for all the help.  I really can't say that enough.  I'm all in on nvOC.  Looking forward to what the future brings.

If I had the power space to build another rig right now; this is what I would buy:

$152 ASUS PRIME Z270-A https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132936

Fullzero,

Just curious if you would recommend the Z270-A over the ASUS PRIME H270-PLUS now?  Any advantages to the extra dollars when going for a 6x or 7x rig (1070s of course in my case)?  Thanks for the help as usual.  Not much to do other than sift through details while waiting on risers.

Also, is anyone running CPU coolers (Arctic Freezer i32 or similar) on their rig or are stock heatsinks the norm even with CPU mining?  I never see them mentioned.
