Is Bitcoin just an investment asset or something more?
Bitcoin was not created as an asset but was a digital currency to buy things and pay for services. And bitcoin was created to assist the fiat currency and day was why people who first got bitcoin used it to but things Alis and Joe too used for transaction and Laszlo Hanyecz also used it to buy pizza and when those who acquired it see that the value was increasing as the price increased dem come dey purchased more and started to hodle it and the more they hodle it the more profit they make and bitcoin becomes the store of value.
But the real reason of the creation bitcoin was for payment option in the world and that is where the peer to peer (p2p) came to use.

With just three games to the end of the season, these are the clubs that might likely go for relegation. I am interested in Heartland FC of Owerri, which is coached by a former National team coach, Emmanuel Amunike. The state government invested heavily in the club, but it seems it might go down to the lower league. This was a coach that was recommended for the Super Eagles. I think he wouldn't have done well as a national team coach.
That’s a valid observation. Emmanuel Amunike came into Heartland FC with a strong reputation, but club football comes with its own unique challenges. Despite the government’s heavy investment, results haven’t reflected the expectations. It raises questions not just about the coach’s tactics, but also the overall management and player mentality. Coaching a national team is very different from handling a club in a tough relegation battle. Maybe this struggle is a sign that he still needs more experience at the club level before stepping up to the national team role.

There were two games played in the Nigerian Premier League today. My focus was the game between Heartland and Kano Pillars. I was worried that Emmanuel Amunike's side might go to relegation if they didn't improve in their performance. Luckily, they got a win after beating the Kano side by 2-0. With this win, they have temporarily gone out of the relegation zone. But they can lose this place any moment if they lose more games.

The government invested heavily in the Owerri-based club this season . But it's sad to see that they are not doing well in proving the money that the state government has spent is not a waste.

I don't really know what exactly is the problem with our local teams but I'm very sure funding is not the only problem affecting their performance. Although, some of our local clubs suffer from poor funding from either government or their sponsors but that's not always the case. I'm not too surprised by the way because it happens even in the western part where clubs have proper funding but end up in an unfortunate position.

The Heartland team is just one point away from relegation and I don't think they can really maintain that position until the end of the season despite the few remaining games. If you take a look at their recent form, Nassarawa united and Akwa United are both very serious and in form to get themselves out of the relegation zone. There is still a tight competition at that buttom between the three teams fighting their way out from relegation and every point is necessary at the moment.
Absolutely, the relegation battle this season is intense. Heartland's win today was crucial, but like you said, consistency is the real challenge. It's not just about funding, coaching strategy, player motivation, and management all play key roles. If they can build on this energy and avoid careless losses, they might just survive. But with teams like Nassarawa and Akwa pushing hard, it's going to be a real fight till the end.

there are some Rumours in football i do not give attention, i will just view the headlines and pass. Liverpool bidding for Mbappe is not out of place, because every clubs need him in their team. but the possibility for mbappe to leave psg to Liverpool that is not playing champions league is very slim. Mbbappe can only leave Psg to Manchester united and Real madrid and not to any club that's not in champions league.

Arsenal are also interested in Mbappe, since Mbappe has not sign a new contract for Psg, every clubs are observing the situation kindly. one thing issure, mbappe will not be playing in psg next season if he do not extend his contract. by next year he will be free agent and they will lose more. Pgs has to be rational about the situation.
Like avoiding such rumours  Because despite Mbappe being offered so much money, he is only thinking of leaving PSG with the hope of winning the Champions League trophy and the Ballon d'Or, why would he sign for that money with a team like Liverpool who have not already qualified for the Champions League? The biggest and most likely of all the rumors is Mbappé's move to Real Madrid. If Mbappe does decide to switch clubs, he is most likely to join Real Madrid. And this possibility may be true. Also I don't think Mbappe can join Liverpool.
You're absolutely right. Mbappé has made it clear that his priority is winning the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or, and Real Madrid offers the best platform for both. A move to Liverpool, especially without UCL football, seems very unlikely regardless of the money involved. Madrid feels like the most realistic destination if he leaves PSG.

Re: Do you think governments should set limits on how much one can gamble daily?
by
DiMarxist
on 29/08/2025, 13:15:11 UTC
As what the question is, Do you think governments should set limits on how much one can gamble daily?

For example, in Finland:

Quote
Veikkaus has the following compulsory loss limits in place applicable to all of their games (excluding Casino Helsinki): €500/day; €2,000/month; and €15,000/year.

https://iclg.com/practice-areas/gambling-laws-and-regulations/finland

Should this is be good deterrent to at least minimized gambling in a certain country? Or does it force gamblers to uses illegal means or even travel outside of the country that has this strict law to continue with their gambling?

That's a very thoughtful question. I believe setting daily or monthly gambling limits, like the ones used in Finland, can be a good move to help reduce gambling loss most especially to those who are addicted, It creates a safety net, especially for those who may struggle with self-control.
But however gambling is not approved in so many countries based on religious beliefs for example Saudi Arabia, so definitely government in such countries like this can't make such law, so basically in my own point of view I think the key is not just placing limits, but also combining it with education, self-exclusion options, and support systems. Responsible gambling isn't just about restrictions, it’s about helping people make informed, healthy decisions.

Re: Gamblers with addiction and deferred life syndrome
by
DiMarxist
on 29/08/2025, 12:37:46 UTC
When I read an article about a gambler with addiction, I noticed that he often mentioned that when he started to accumulate debts among friends, and loans from banks, he began to eat worse, stopped buying new clothes. He began to live in the Syndrome of Deferred Life. What kind of syndrome is this?

Quote
Deferred life syndrome - is a psychological condition in which a person constantly postpones a full life, happiness and satisfaction of their needs to an indefinite future.

Do you think problem gamblers can save on themselves to start living in the "bright future" they hope for after a big win at the casino?
The same goes for problem bettors and sports betting.
This is a very great point you highlighted out here.
Deferred Life Syndrome truly captures what many problem gamblers go through. The hope of a "big win" becomes the reason so many addicted gamblers tolerate hardship, delay personal growth, and sacrifice their well-being.

I believe many addicted gamblers don’t realize how deep they’ve sunk because they convince themselves that they’re just “one win away” from turning everything around. In reality, that future rarely comes, and even when it does, it's often not enough to reverse the damage done.

In the case of sports betting, I’ve noticed the same pattern. People chase losses thinking the next weekend’s match will be the lucky one. Instead of setting limits or seeking help, they hold onto the illusion of a future payout that justifies their current suffering.

The solution probably starts with awareness, acknowledging the cycle, seeking support, and understanding that real life shouldn’t be on hold for a gamble that may never pay off. You made a nice and educated thread there nice one.

Re: Am I being scammed again?

on 28/08/2025, 20:02:59 UTC
I need some help!! About a year ago I was scammed and lost 250$ US on a bit coin scam . Last week I was contacted that the funds could be recovered. I set up an Atomic wallet as requested and this morning I supplied them with the tether number and they put 6800 USDT in the wallet. I set up my own wallet they only had access to the number to put money in. They say to recover the funds now I need to put 1150 USD in the wallet to cover costs of the wire transfer and change to CAD to be put in my bank account. I do not want to be scammed again so if someone could help me I would appreciate it. Does this sound right?? The company that put the coin in my wallet is blockchainchargeback.com out of the Netherlands
if i can remember vividly I think similar case has been discussed before on bitcoin discussion board, but that's by way all I can say is that  if you where contacted that the fund you lost can be recovered you should know by now that it is a scam, and if truth be told the people who contacted you are the same people who scammed you the first time, so stop communicating with them and avoid them they scammers and they want to scam you again for the second time. See in this crypto space if you are not careful enough you keep losing funds to scammers.
You bumped the thread of January last year. Well I don't really know the time frame to bump an old thread, if it a year or beyond but I can remember that one can bump an old thread if the content has a coherent with the old thread and the input must be an education and contributing to knowledge. For you to bumped this thread you would brought a related content to add this thread up for people to read what happened in your case.
This has happened in my country last year where by scammers sent money to your wallets but you can't access it or make transfer with them and they asked you to deposit so you can make the transfer and once you do. All is gone.

Saving an address is for convenience, but it doesn't mean you won't double or triple check the details.
The best option is even copying the receiving address at anytime we want to send coins to that address, because cross checking is not a guarantee method. It is better we delete them and copy and paste whenever we need them to avoid any mistake. According to a phrase, prevention is better than cure. Or if I would have known.
This thread is just like an early warning which we need to take precautions.

It is important that we understand the way we could always be playing safe when it comes to assets and how we often make our transactions, because we can't afford to make a silly mistake that may cost us our entire bitcoin into loss, I have also been observing on this, whereby it occurs in many instances that when I wanted to send a transaction using internal transfer, I got to receive some of my previous UIDs being suggested and if you're not careful, you may just ended up using them and send to another user you never intended to be your recipient, so I will also support that we always clear the history of previous UID we have used and ensure we copy the intended one, there are many ways one can lost their crypto assets once they are not informed.

Who still remembers the EPL Legendary commentator, in the person of Peter Drury? He once said this about Manchester United jokingly "Manchester united is the most consistent team, one win in August, one win in September, one win in October, one win in November and one win in December. its just like a menstrual cycle!! if they don't win in January know that they are pregnant". The month of August will end on Sunday and Manchester United has one more match to play, if they lose or draw it then lol.
That was a joke he made when making his random comments but it looks like it is happening in the club. The performance of the club is not encouraging fans any more. In last season it was said the coach and the coach was changed yet nothing good happened in the team and the fans said, the new coach has to understand the team members and it is from this season that the team will do well. But what they are showing here is not different from the last season performance.
Big question, who is not doing well in the team? The players or the coach again? I strongly believe the players and Ruben Amorim needs to bring in good strikers.
Chelsea was once like this but it is no more.

Re: Is it easy to be a responsible player?
by
DiMarxist
on 28/08/2025, 16:54:37 UTC
Being a responsible gambler has a lot do with discipline, because you have to be disciplined to be able to set limits and boundaries. For you to be a responsible gambler you also have to realize that you can't get rich through gambling a d that will really help you in the way you gamble, because you are not expecting to get rich with it. Self control is also very important for you to be a responsible gambler, this quality helps you know your limits, which helps you not to exceed your budget for gambling.

It is very easy to talk about it over and over again but very difficult for most people to practice it, that's why a lot of people are falling into gambling addiction because they can not control their urge and desire for gambling, this might have been as a result of motivation that they can make big amount of money from gambling but yet they don't get to make the money they expected and yet they can not stop trying. If many people stop trying to make a huge win from gambling or make a living from it, there will be less numbers of addicts.
Yes I agree with you. It is only a beginner in gambling and average gamblers that can discipline because at that stage they are not addicted to gambling but for those addicted gamblers, my brothers it is difficult to be a responsible gambler because their mental thinking is not like that of the beginners again. So to be a responsible gambler should be practicing from the beginning of the gambling journey.
But if the addicted person determined to discipline himself, he can but it will be a challenge moment for him. One thing that makes gamblers to be addicted is the easy access to finance so if the person wants to stop he has to channel the income to another "Pause to keep money", which he can locked the funds in the Bank or in the Micro Finance apps so he won't have access to spend on gambling. And when the due date comes, he can use I to buy what he has budgeted to buy.

Delete Someone Unused UID Number/Address in Your Exchange Addree Book'
by
DiMarxist
on 27/08/2025, 21:57:49 UTC
It is not good to keep someone UID Number or bitcoin Address in your Bybit account, mostly for those who sell coins to local vendors. Some people send coins to vendors through UID or Address which is already saved in the exchange address book and what they do is to go straight to the address book and click the UID number or the saved address and send the coins. IF YOU MISTAKENLY click another person UID number or address on the list and send the coin and you don't know the person. Then your coins are gone. This is an avoidable mistake. When you withdraw coins in Bybit the receiver's UID/Address automatically saved.

Just like what happened to me recently. I bought something online through Social Media Platform and I paid the person with bitcoin and paid through the UID address, after that purchased some weeks later, I was about sending coins to someone which the address (UID) was also saved in the address book of the bybit, and I distantly clicked on the guy whom I bought the thing, but I cross examined the uid number and it was not the particular one I wanted to send the coins to so I had to manually typed the number/address before I sent the coin.

after that day I have been looking for a way to delete/remove all the address which I don't know the owners from the address book list and finally I got it. And I decided to share it here so others can also learn and avoid the mistake. You might sent coins to address unknowingly /mistakenly and you will lost the coins if you don't know the person.

Follow the Steps to Delete/Remove the UID/Address

For PC.
Click on Assets on the up right hand side.

Click on Withdraw and click on Add.

And you will see all the addresses there and you click on delete on the address you want to remove.

And a box will pop up click confirm.

For now it is Bybit and it works in pc.

We learned to educate

Re: 🏆 If You're New to Crypto Here's Some Stuff I Wish Someone Told Me Early On
by
DiMarxist
on 27/08/2025, 19:58:02 UTC
Been in crypto for a bit now not a pro, not rich, just someone who’s been around long enough to make some gains, lose some coins, and facepalm at my own mistakes
If you’re just getting started here are some real advice from someone who’s been through it

Bitcoin has always 8 Decimal and the smallest fractions is 1 Satoshi = 0.00000001 BTC
Since bitcoin was born most of people have lost their access to their bitcoin by not saving and securing their secret seed don't be one of them!
Pay attention to  Security > Everything
Use 2FA don't click weird links NEVER give out your seed phrase no one legit will ask for it not support not admins not even your dog

- Don’t leave coins sitting on exchanges
Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins If your crypto is sitting on an exchange and you don’t control the private keys you don’t really own it !!!!!!
Dont get fooled from Earn Daily Rewards or Airdrops that are worth cents
Seriously if the exchange goes down gets hacked, or decides to “freeze withdrawals” your coins are toast
THIS HAS HAPPEN MANY TIMES ON THE PAST IT CAN HAPPEN TOMORROW TOO

Get yourself a wallet write down your seed phrase store it somewhere safe You’ll thank yourself later
You can use Bitcoin Core or Electrum  https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5&platform=windows

- Learn the basics
You don’t need to become a developer, but it helps to know:
What is a wallet?
What’s the blockchain actually doing?
What is mempool?
Trust me it makes everything less intimidating
https://mempool.space/

- You can buy a tiny bit of BTC
Most of people say now days that bitcoin is only for rich which is a big mistake
You don’t need to buy a whole Bitcoin you can throw in $10 and just learn how sending/receiving works don’t let the price scare you off

- Ignore any Email related to update your Wallet
most of people lost their bitcoin by clicking malware links or phishing

- Be careful from Drainers
there are website that ask you to connect your wallet to get an Airdrop (free coins of an project) 99% them are scam
once u connect your wallet your Coins will be gone ( even if you have 0$  but you add balance to that wallet after few months they will be gone )
Read more about Drainers here https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/

Use 2 wallets  1 Main for Long term which you only store your Bitcoin as an invesment and dont touch till you are a millionaire
and the 2nd wallet for any payments or thing u need daily

That’s all I got just wanted to throw this out there in case it helps someone dodge a few mistakes I made early on
Anyone else got tips for the newer folks? Drop ‘em below

When I saw the topic, the first thing that came to my mind was, this thread is own by newbie. And as I checked it is. Op most of the things you made mentioned are not new in the forum. We have discussed those things in many time.   Real investors of bitcoin would not keep their coins in an exchange for long term but to sell within a short period of time or they can keep it for trading purpose.
Non custodial wallets has no email so there is no way someone will receive email from the wallet. It is only centralized exchanges that have email. And centralized exchanges would not send you email and if they want to discuss with it is through your account in the app. You can see a pop up to update and auto update of the app from the phone.

Op I don't know how you understand the see the bitcoin movement as for me, it is the uses this people that affect the price of bitcoin. The more people use it the more it increases and that is where demand and supply comes to play in the usage of bitcoin. The demand makes the supply scarce and the scarce make it costly.
So the price at a particular time determine by the number of usage (demand)  which would make the supply high.

I think the common strategy is for buying bitcoin is the DCA approach which most of the whales also used in acquiring bitcoin. Michael J. Saylor also use that DCA approach which I have noticed it whenever he purchased bitcoin. He has not observed the bull time to avoid buying but he bought when the price is high as well. But what he does is whenever the price hit All Time High and it reduces again little bit he would buy it if he has the cash.
Last year when the price hit $117k and reduced to $90k he bought it. So the common strategy for bitcoin investment is DCA. You can set different time frame to buy.

Individuals earning NGN800,000 or less per annum will now be exempt from tax on their income and gains, while higher income earners will be taxed at a higher rate up to 25%.

This means that most of us here and the masses in Nigeria will be paying 25% tax to the government soon, as long as you earn something good above 800k (Naira) per year!
Op your information is misleading and it would've been better is you post this in the local board for proper correction. The part you quoted is contradicting with your comment. The quote said the tax is for those who are earning above N800,000 (monthly) and not yearly as you statement l. And you are saying most of us here and the citizens of Nigeria are to pay the 25% tax. That is not true. World bank estimated rate on the average Nigeria is still stand and which says that the average Nigeria is not living a dollar a day so from where the person that is not living with a dollar can pay that 25% tax. You would have made some concrete research before posting this. You can still read Ambatman link to comprehend the information.

Metaplanet company, they have bought 103 Bitcoins today again like in the past and added them to their main holdings. However, I can say that Metaplanet is an aggressive Bitcoin buying company, buying Bitcoins regularly on a weekly basis. They are the most aggressive in Bitcoin buying, which is why many treasury companies have followed Microstrategy company and Metaplnet company and made Bitcoin holdings.
Literally this Japanese company, based on the east coast of Asia, still holds significantly fewer Bitcoins than MicroStrategy, the leader in the Bitcoin market and you mentioned that they buy Bitcoin on a weekly basis. Observe the current development of MetaPlant, where they are buying Bitcoin regularly and it is even true that the treasury strategy they follow is identical. It is true that the president of this Japanese company mentioned that their MetaPlant mid-cap status could be a landmark milestone for the Bitcoin-based company. In this context, it is correct that The inclusion of these companies in stock indices will allow them to funnel passive capital flows into the Bitcoin market. See it has already become Japan's leading Bitcoin treasury and they are included in the FTSE Global Equity Index series. https://cointelegraph.com/news/metaplanet-added-ftse-japan-all-world-stock-indices

They have recently pulled 103 BTC around $11.7 million valued and now have 18991 BTC worth of $1.95 billion. So with this they have become biggest Bitcoin treasury company in Japan & 7th largest globally i think  Cool

They have also been upgraded from the small cap segment to the mid cap, so this qualifies them to appear in the FTSE Japan & FTSE All-World indices, making them accessible to passive institutional inflow  Roll Eyes

In fact, those treasury companies have yet to set out clear audit standards, right? Sherlock-level questions were put by Financial Times about the ability to check these holdings as Metaplanet does not present wallet addresses, but relies on third party attestation. whatever it seems they are piling up BTC  & are also entering major indexes Smiley

This is the big question of the period "Who Holds bitcoin Reserve? Many countries, Companies, Institutions, and individuals are coming to the investment of  bitcoin. UAE has come to join the race to invest in bitcoin and it has invested in bitcoin with $700 millions, yet US still dominate with 198,000 BTC.
That is there is a serious competition on the holding of bitcoin in the international investment system of bitcoin.

You should be talking about Dantown platform where Sabinus is their Brand Ambassador, where they promised free withdrawal and deposits, something like that, I don't trust them with that advertisement with such statements, it's a word that'll lure users into downloading the app and start seeing high charges in every transactions.
Exactly. My main purpose of creating this thread was to discuss weti we the users of the exchange need and want them to do but some of the replies here just disorganized the smoothly arranged discussion. If dem want to discuss spot, convert trading they can create thread for day den we discussed that one. Well when I see di advert, I saw instead of free withdrawal and deposit why can't dey use free conversion because that is what most crypto users need. I am still looking for an exchange that I can make a conversion free be a decentralized exchange or centralized exchange.

And if any of the Nigerian cryptocurrency exchange get the free conversion option, dem go get customers well well.
