If you want to increase adoption, please get in contact with Cryptopia and tell them how to fix their wallet issues. Withdrawals disabled for over a month now...

Here's what one of the mods on discord channel told me:

Re: Monthly average USD/bitcoin price & trend
by

using today's values based on OP's formula the bit coin price should be:

10^(-2.869800 + 0.003012 * ((number of days since 2009 Jan 03)/days)) =

$26,439

The coefficients -2.8698 and 0.003012 are dynamic and recalculated daily from past price data.

So it's more like $5,000 now - which still IS somewhat higher than the actual price  Cheesy

Hi, I'm struggling to reproduce / update these coefficients based on current data - can you please point me to an example / excel spreadsheet with formulas? Or is it an iterative approach?
Thanks.

Re: Incorrect Bitcore(BTX) Circulating Supply on CMC
by

This whole discussion proves once again how broken a metric the market cap really is.
Same as CPU speed is solely measured in GHz and the number of megapixels is the only thing that influences picture quality of cameras.

Makes you wonder how many other promising projects are misrepresented on CMC?

edit: Must be option 1, of course. Anything else is nonsense.

edit2: Have you contacted coincap.io or coingecko.com as well? Or do those blindly rely on CMC data? (oh, and send coincap.io a BTX logo while you are at it)

Best post I read on here today.

I don't have any numbers, but what are the annual “maintenance“ costs of the current fiat system in comparison? Probably not 9% like with bitcoin today, but definitely not zero either (banks, vaults, security systems, ATMs, personnel, printing bank notes, minting coins, credit card fraud, insurances etc.)? Sum it up and you will know how many more halvings until break even. Just a thought.

What's in the Gox? What's in the Gox?

I have a feeling that "technically the coins are not lost just yet", and that they will be returned to customers "soonish" (as soon as Midas starts trading and we see LTC on Gox!)  Grin

Re: Is Stamp the culprit?

I'm just wondering if some of the major whales who have been "walking it down" all through 2014, now have the majority of their coins and fiat locked up on Stamp.

Hopefully that's true, and they are now pissing their pants.  The thought of that makes me grin a big ol' shit eating grin.  Grin

Only US bank accounts can be linked ... so much for "global" audience  Shocked

Also, when offering a localized version of a website, containing a localized support form, answering support request in a language other than your customer's language kind of defies the whole purpose of offering support in different languages in the first place :-)

If I invested when BTC was 1000 like a lot of other people did, I would be fucked as we speak.

True. But if you had constantly bought 100$ worth of BTC/month over the past year, where would you be then with your investment?

To answer my own question:
A constant 100$/month investment over the past 12 months would have bought you between 3.0 (month's highest price) and 3.5 (month's lowest price) BTC. So even now, at the bottom of a 6 months downtrend, you are still up 25-45%.

However, if you had started buying only 10 months ago in November, you would've accumulated between 1.3 and 2.3 BTC, putting you somewhere between -35% and +15%, which I admit doesn't look so bright any more. In all fairness though, we might see higher prices again soon, and right now everyone would sell their grandma just to get a chance to buy at last year's April bubble peak again ... *shrugs*
