If this is not bullish, I don't know what is:

Some of the biggest names on Wall Street are warming up to bitcoin, a virtual currency that for nearly a decade has been consigned to the unregulated fringes of the financial world.
The parent company of the New York Stock Exchange has been working on an online trading platform that would allow large investors to buy and hold bitcoin, according to emails and documents viewed by The New York Times and four people briefed on the effort who asked to remain anonymous because the plans were  still confidential.
....
Goldman will initially only be trading futures contracts linked to bitcoin’s price. But Goldman executives said they were looking at moving in the direction of buying and selling actual bitcoins.
The Intercontinental Exchange’s effort, if it pans out, could make bitcoin available to a much wider and more influential customer base, including other financial firms.
...

I am bullish and all for Wall Street warming up to bitcoin and getting in the game, but what are your thoughts on them manipulating the markets through the futures short and the regular trading for keeping bitcoin in a desired band yoyoing for months and years defeating the purpose of HODL for the regular folks?

Genuine question, this is my worry for the near future

Do you guys know if AEX and CoinEgg exchanges have the correct chain in their wallets? Is it safe to buy from their exchanges and hold until they allow transfers?

Actually its stuck on block 1284165

I see that problem as well. In both the old as well as in the new 32 bit Windows wallet.

When I start the wallet it has 3-4 active connections and wallet syncs properly for a bit (1-5 minutes) then it gets stuck and stop syncing new blocks. Interesting thing is that the blocks that it gets stuck on are always round numbers for me 465000 for example. After restart it gets to say 465500 and stops again. Same thing happens if I use the bootstrap. It will start syncing and soon will get stuck on some round block.

I tried restarting 10-15 times and new blocks get synced with each restart, but its not possible to catch-up this way and fully sync as it is 1- 2 days worth of blocks at at time before it blocks again.

So it is not possible for me to stake any coins with any wallet. If you have any suggestions let me know.

From the debug.log you can see everything is chugging along with new blocks syncing. Then the "connection timeout" and "trying connection" messages start appearing and then a "socket closed" message a then its toast :

Nice to speculate on how much we could earn, but I feel even the numbers used are far too high for a new service that will really take patience. I might even say a lot of patience. Weeks at the minimum to see the first gains. But I hope to be proven wrong!

To do this, the exchange would have to spin out about $150,000 worth of commission income per day (a penny per 15 million NVOT tokens) and to get to that, at 0.0002 vig rate (half of the 0.0004 total charged to maker/taker) they'd have to be moving about $750,000,000 (750 Million) thru the exchange on a daily basis.

You are off by one zero the commission rate of 0.2% is 0.002 not 0.0002. So for the penny per NVOT scenario the daily volume needs to be 75,000,000 not 750,000,000

The time-stamp for the conversion rates is: 19:00 UTC - 28/06/2017.

Total BTC raised (at these exchange rates): 3055.120324
Total USD raised at the BTC-USD price (Bitstamp): 7790556.826

This means that any price changes for you, as an investor, no longer matter. You can use these numbers to estimate the number of tokens that you will receive.

Based on the totals from Lauda
The initial price of one NVO is going to be:

BTC 0.00020367
USD 0.51937

Which is a major loss. How did you come up with that number?

Could you elaborate what you mean by major loss?

Huh how is this a major loss he just converted the actual bitcoin price
7790556.826 \ 15000000 = 0.51937$
0.51937$ = 0.00020367btc lol

How can I start staking? Haven't done that before.

Once your wallet is synced, click on the "unlock wallet" button and input your passphrase. Once unlocked your wallet will start staking automatically and you'll see your balance transfered to the "staking" section. Then, the coins generated need to mature, basically to be confirmed.

Did that, there is no visual hint that anything changed. How long before any balance moves to Stake:... section? And then how long before it matures?

Also is there a command I can run, to verify it is actively staking?

Had another decent morning staking. I hadn't staked in three days then mined a few back to back. I love that my TES is finally staking.
Anyone else staking out there, very curious to see how often I should be seeing rewards. I know the return is +/- 12%

How can I start staking? Haven't done that before.

Thanks for posting, I like the approach the author is taking by not taking hard pro or con side.

I agree that actually governments getting involved and "legalizing" it in their bureaucratic ways could be very good for widespread adoption of Bitcoin (or its alts and descendants)

Re: PSU question: Is 850W enough for 3 cards??
by
DiamondHunter
on 19/06/2013, 21:49:10 UTC
Properly undervolted 7950 (I run mine at 1.075v that gives me 630kH) draws just under 200Wa. Your system is using between 100-160wa.

In one of my systems I run 3x5850 and at the wall I have 500 wa consumption.

You should be able to run comfortably 3x 7950/7970 or 4 older cards at efficient PSU utilization.

Kill-A-Watt is awesome tool when optimizing your miner settings. Remember, you want to undervolt and overclock your GPUs.

I am wandering where can I learn and follow up about new coins being announced and released?

I've been mining the established currencies for some months now, and ventured a bit with the new alts popping up at Cryptsy.
But I would like to try and get in the action earlier. Where the devs are making their announcements for new alts? This forum, troll boxes... ?

Thanks for the advice in advance Wink
