Couldn't someone just generate millions of addresses and use up every possible variant?
Theoretically speaking, of course. What would happen if this happened and there literally was't anymore viable addresses left to be generated?

Long time lurker, new poster.
I signed up yesterday after my first poolmining experience, hoping to involve myself in the marketplace forums offering illustration services at reasonable prices.
I was sure I left myself logged in yesterday but I guess I was wrong, apparently I've only accumulated just over an hour of log time here.
I'm certainly no stranger to the bitcoin scene as I've been following it for months and participating in it with other communities, but I'd really love to involve myself in -as I said - the marketplace forum here and would love even more to get a thread up about illustration services before I have to leave for work later today. Many thanks in advance.

Another important question I forgot to ask:
Does anyone around here have any experience selling services for BTC? Please share.

Yo, I'm me. Originally I came up with this handle to separate my bitcoin identity from other net identities but it took on a life of its own, and now I'm trying to work out a beer delivery service in major Canadian cities where payment is solely made in bitcoins. Thanks a lot, bitcoins, now I have no free time again, lol.

I've been lurking the scene for a while, now I discovered that I've been newbiefied and I guess this is my ticket outta here.

I'm curious as to how serious you are about this. How much money do you plan to invest in this?

I don't see why you would, but there's no reason why you can't. There are some guides floating around about how to 'truly' secure your wallet.

I think you'll find that the vocal members of the Bitcoin community fall into some very distinguishable categories at the moment.
First there are the people who are actually benefiting - People who sunk money into mining rigs or BTC business endeavors and through what is honestly a bizarre twist of fate have found themselves rolling in imaginary coins that are actually profitable at this time.
Next you have the people who see the first group of succesful people and try to pursue their glory - these people see bitcoins are a serious entity made evidently legitimate by the people actually making money right now. These are the people who are probably going to liquidate everything they own in an ultimately disappointing pursuit of bitcoin riches.
Then there are the people who see bitcoins as a niche, fun entity who don't mind sinking their free time into something experimental and even a little bit historical. But overall, for fun.

As long as you don't take this all too seriously, there is a lot of fun to be had.

What do you mean by 'play the market'?
And are there any guides you could recommend? I have read many guides so far, but haven't really found many about standard practices for earning more bitcoins.

The is also of course the path of just offering my services at a BTC fee. Could anyone recommend a good place to, say, offer quick digital portraits and at what price I could reasonably do this?

Salutations,
I am an Australian resident who lives on-site at a dedicated facility at a local private hospital where I am treated for an especially malicious and ultimately fatal form of bowel cancer. In the mean-time, I enjoy pursuing manageable but rewarding goals such as my current Bitcoin endeavor of reaching 60US dollars using nothing but BTC.
So far, mining with a single 5770 intermittently over the last 48 hours has netted me the peasant sum of 0.06 BTC, but when I turn this into 1.0BTC I plan to pursue investments (of some sort, I'm still very much clueless) that will allow me to make progress on my path to 60 US dollars.
If any other newbies have success stories with their first BTC endeavors, please feel free the share.

Modest BTC goal; where do I start? Asking for advice on my road to 60 USD

Alright, so I've had my 5770 poolmining at 180-185MH/s overnight for two days now, still only sitting on 0.06BTC but I guess it's a start. The idea is that I'll mine up my first 1.0BTC and then use that to reach my goal of 60 US dollars. It's a modest, fun goal that I'm sure I'm capable of achieving.
The thing is, there's a large gap between getting my first BTC and turning it into 60BTC. How do I invest this BTC? How do I make more BTC in a more efficient manner then mining with an unoptimised rig? As an illustrator I feel I can make a few BTC selling digital portraits to people (Although I'm not sure where exactly the best place to pedal my wares is), but beyond working for my BTC, could anyone suggest a plausible route of investment?
Any advice is appreciated, even if you just share your stories of how you came across your first bitcoin and how you've made more.
Most importantly, I'm doing this for fun. I've got plenty of free time at the moment and feel this is a rewarding use of my time, but it is above all a 'for fun' endeavor.
