Guys,

I want to make a Devcoin Gift Card site. Is the bounty still up for grabs? And if so, how much is the current bounty?

It is. 12 shares for the first 5 kinds of cards. Amazon and  Visa are  already available.

See http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now for a list of bounties and the rewards. Gift card is in there.

I got a response from Zach Harvey from Lamassu ( https://lamassu.is/ ). They are working on a Bitcoin ATM, and I emailed them about Devcoin. They said they are considering a Litecoin ATM first, and will consider other Altcoins (the ones that show promise) in the future. They are focussing on the Bitcoin first though (which is set to be released early 2014. So they might consider a Devcoin ATM later in the future, as long as we keep growing.

Payout is on block 120000, and we're at block 117814 now. Any estimate date on when we'll reach block 120000? I also read the dvc will be paid out over multiple days (a month?), so will it be from when we reach block  120000 and then a month, or will it be from block 120000 untill round 31 ?

Also, if anyone could be so kind as to link me and others hopefully, to a windows  wallet that works it would be appreciated
Simple instructions would be welcome Wink

The Devcoin Setup Exe Windows32 worked fine for me, just an ordinary installer.

Just got interested in devcoin.
How does this wallet work? How do I back it up?
And is this address the right one? 1BzQbNRzLVvgKQqM3HsF3nvC8fJEXr55N3

I see lots of people's adress start with 19 but mine with 1Bz?
When you make a new account @ vircurex.com can you start buying Devcoins immediately?

Need some answers first before I buy some devcoins.

It should work just fine. If you want to be sure, enter it in the faucer http://faucet.d.evco.in/ and see if you receive 5 DVC after the round ends.

Vircurex has Dvc/Btc trade, so you'll need bitcoin and trade them in for devcoin

There is not enough donations to pay out. But how do I backup my wallet?

It should be able to pay out in a while. But for now I've send you 10 DVC to check if it works, check if you receive them in a while

For backup: Go to this folder C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Devcoin and backup wallet.dat

How do we check to see how many devcoins we earned in round 30?  I can see I got "39 word count", but how many devcoins is that?

Thats 39 shares, the average number of devcoins per share  this round is 180,000,000 dvc / 723 = 248,963 dvc (see http://d.evco.in/charity/receiver_summary.txt)

So 248963 x 39 = 9709557 dvc

The admin of CEX.IO has replied to me via email and said they will add DVC/BTC trading when enough people have requested it.

To get DVC/BTC trading on CEX.IO (which is an exchange which has pretty high volume) please complete the following steps:

1.) register for http://cex.io

2.) Go to this link https://support.cex.io/entries/28554767-Convert-NMC-IXC-DVC-to-BTC

3.) Click vote for this feature

4.) You can also submit a support ticket requesting they add DVC/BTC trading asap!

Done.

P.S. Hi all! Smiley

Welcome here!

I found no information about what the final mined amount of Devcoins will be? Is there a final limit?

The generation of Devcoins is unlimited

Unthinkingbit is the one who handled the bounties. I was discussing this with someone else via PM, though, and I think it may be best to allow him to clarify. We actually have a bounty list... somewhere... that has all of the current bounties. Past that, I am not really sure what classifies as being something that can be accepted.

The list: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now

hello,

1. i read 90% of the mining goes to the developpers.
like i understood he has a registration site where open source developper can register and become devcoins for free.
  is that correct?

2. Who / how many persons decide how much each open source project becomes?

90% does go to the developers, the developers get 180,000,000 devcoins a month in total.

As an open source developer, you'll get one generation share a round, as long as you keep developing. You'll also have the option to rate writers which will earn you devcoins.

Check this link out for more info:

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=earn_devcoins_by_developing

4. How much coins will be genereated, is the a cap or a soft cap? (xxx million + 1 million per year for example)

The generation is constant at 50,000 coins per block, which is 1,000 times higher than the bitcoin starting rate. At a typical rate of 144 blocks a day, 1,008 a week, roughly 4,000 a month, that means the 200,000,000 devcoins are generated each month.
The generation is unlimited, the transaction limit is 21 billion devcoins, that is to stop someone from breaking the system by overflowing an integer.

Check out for more info:

Hello to who ever this should be for i have be trying to use the Devcoin faucet but
it seems like its not working its staying stuck in one round for a long time and when it
finally changes to another round the Devcoins are not being added to my wallet just giving
out that info so a admin can take a look at it thank you have a good night. Devcoins for life!!  Cool

Right now it says they don't have enough donations to pay out. There's about 270 submitters which they'll pay out once they have the necessary donations, this might be the problem

Currently about 5.7bn vs 12m bitcoin. Bear in mind that devcoin was created in 2011 with the intent to shift the decimal for a crypto future where if they took off transacting in decimals might be awkard. So any intital comparison has to take the dvc total/1000 = about 5.7m equivalent (and the same with the bitcoin price/1000, explaining some element of the price differential from the onset). As to whether that 1000 multiplier infers any under/over valuation at today's prices is a personal consideration and depends on your relative outlook for devcoin and other cryptos as well, but there's more info here:

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#generation_rate

Thank you, explains a lot
