Goldcoin > Bitcoin ?

I found this cryptocurrency called Goldcoin (GLC) via a p2pfoundation account a couple of years ago. I've been using Bitcoin for years now but it's getting very expensive and slower to transact in the present. However I've been looking for an altcoin to use instead of Bitcoin and tried ETH, LTC, XRP etc.

But for a change I tried Goldcoin and it worked well too. Then I looked more in to Goldcoin and saw it has similar features to Bitcoin and Litecoin but with some new features.

  • Proof-of-Work Blockchain
  • Scrypt Algorithm
  • 2 Min. Block Interval
  • 2 MB Blocks
  • 72 Million Supply
  • On-Chain Scaling
  • 0-Conf. Transactions
  • Free Transactions (5% of Each Block)
  • Every Block Retarget (Golden River Difficulty Algorithm)
  • Advanced Checkpointing with Difficulty Detection (ACPD)
  • Genesis Block : 2013 May 15

Also found in the news that there will be a new hardfork on Bitcoin blockchain in July called Reverse Bitcoin Hardfork (RBH) that will distribute GLC to each BTC holder.

If Bitcoin had "On-Chain Scaling" would we be having Scalalbility issues today?

To me it's obvious that Satoshi thought of 1MB blocks for Bitcoin as a test to see how it goes. But couldn't stay till the real problem arose since he had to take his unprecedented leave.

If Bitcoin had an "On-Chain Scaling" feature would it make Bitcoin the viable Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System ?
