The stream shows a fat, shy monotoned IT dork talking to a crowd of 15 people in a small room with what looks like rivals homecoming decorations. I'm so sorry for people who flew in and got hotel tickets for this.
Its not the e3 FYI.

never been before! it's horrible! ATT is worthless here

Perhaps the next conference can be held in Las Vegas... We have excellent wireless service, tons of meeting space, and some amazing nightspots. Not to mention great hotels...

Also hopefully by then the Casinos will accept Bitcoin Wink

Ever thought about putting some shares up on the GLBSE? I'm sure you would raise enough capital for whatever you need very quickly since there is a shortage of unshady companies on there at the moment and there are alot of people such as myself who are waiting for big timers to come on board.

Seconded.

http://www.google.com/trends?q=bitcoin

More Bitcoins are currently made each day than bought. It takes a huge influx of new buyers for the price to shoot up as with the $30 high.

Google trends shows several things, most importantly how many people have just heard about Bitcoin and want to find out more. There will be a conversion rate between searching for Bitcoin in Google and purchasing Bitcoins at an exchange. Sadly that info is not public knowledge but it's possible the big exchanges track conversions with Google analytics.

Personally I set the MX records to google apps and send/receive emails with gmail, it's really easy to do and convenient. Of course if your running a site that is sending emails via PHP for example you will need to either setup the email on the machine or install the PEAR mail library and use Googles SMTP settings.

In theory some rich Sheikh could buy up a ton of BTC and turn the economy to shit, just for the lols, and wouldn't even feel the dent in his pocket. Not likely though.

Anybody selling right now is going to regret it in about 2 weeks time. The Bitcoin conference alone isn't necessarily enough to push the price up a lot, but the strong correlation between Google trends and BTC exchange rate is too strong to ignore. If just half of the people attending the conference make a decent report on it the amount of interest in Bitcoin is going to go through the roof.

I would be willing to host a mirror of the executable and I'm sure others would in a similar fashion. The big issue is making sure that all the hosts are trustworthy enough not to compile a trojan version and upload that. One solution is to post the SHA-1 checksum of the legit exe onto the official site, but many people would likely ignore it.

really, windows and osx and linux as is are really to complicated for most people.

we need a linux distro with a simple touch interface.

it would include a program called "money" or "bitcoin"

it would be simple, you boot the computer directly into a screen that has labeled icons for each program. "email" "browse the web" "pictures" "videos"

there would be no automatic prompt for any passwords or anything, it would only cause more problems, since it would be a desktop, theft of the device is unlikely. because of the extreme simplicity, you can lock the machine down to a point where the user will never even notice, creating a very secure machine.

including an online help button, where you push it, and sombody that is paid, can hear them, and see the screen too and control it. each program would have censored parts of the program that the remote desktop can be touched.

It's called Chrome OS.

The site has been up for just over a day and so far the users have made a combined total of 1.1097 BTC. Most of that appears to be people just checking it out, several Linux distributions have been uploaded to the server now Grin

My team has developed the first free online marketplace for Europe. www.easymall.gr and very soon .eu. At the moment we support 200 merchants. We are thinking to intergrate a bitcoin payment solutions for every e-shop we create.  Wink

Sounds great, I will be sure to checkout the EU site when it's up and running.

I've been waiting for somebody to create something like this for a while. I expect that eventually it will be commonplace for people to use clients that are retrieving the blockchain from elsewhere rather than downloading and storing it on their computer.
