Apparently heavycoinpool has been grinding away on one block for more than 2 hours. What am I missing?
More than 2 hours? Look at the pool stats https://heavycoinpool.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool
Quote
Time Since Last Block    19 hours 6 minutes 51 seconds
This is enormous time, there is definitely something wrong with this pool. It's hashrate is not that low 57.542 MH/s, hvc.nonce-pool.com has less than 4 times more (191.694 MH/s) and cracking new blocks like nuts, in minutes, current difficulty is quite low.
Also, the site periodically goes offline for me.

Thanks for the heads up. Was there for well over 2 hours... oh well. Switched over to 1gh. Kept one machine on this pool for shits and giggles. Will report on the progress, if any, tomorrow.

HeavyCoinPool has a very small slice of the network hashrate right now. That means that it takes a while for it to find blocks, but when they do, your individual returns will be higher per block. Ultimately it should level out over time no matter where you mine.

I see now. It looks like 1gh is taking the lions share.

There are plenty of people mining it right now. Whether or not to mine it is your call, no way is it DOA.

You're right. No one should call this coin dead. But if you expect to actually make a profit versus the cost of electricity then you might want to look elsewhere.

When most of the participants have zero coins after hours of mining and you expect the coin to rebound then please, point your hashes here.

is x-pool a good pool to mine this?

No, there's no reason to mine this coin. It's DOA.

3 hours on hashing.at pool. Net result= nada. 0 confirmed or unconfirmed coins.

You were a bit late to the party.

Don't worry... it's working itself out for now.

The Dev Team has sum splainin' to do.

We all know how forgiving this community is toward botched launches, after all, it's tough to make a crypto coin and who knows when the next one will come along. I'm sure everything will be great tomorrow!

Honestly though, this seemed like a pretty good launch. The pools were there, a little buzz in the air. But it's been a huge pile of shit.

But I look at scrypt coins in evolutionary terms: there's gonna be a lot of failed, backwards and pointless starts and stops. And then something really interesting happens. Just got to keep trying. However, this coin is one that paleontologists will have a hard time finding.

your pool has been holding my coins as unconfirmed for 24 hours now..
also I have contacted you  through your pool asking you nicely to release my coins and have gone UNANSWERED!
drop your big colored add like your a great pool ...
ill let the miners know right now to AVOID YOUR POOL AT ALL COSTS!
Very Bad Buisness! ... and as of now I still don't know if ill ever see my coins from this pool!
AVOID  AVOID  AVOID!

Because of this I have left and moved on to another coin ....
sorry DEV you seem to be very involved and a nice guy from what I have read.
but can you see how a pool not treating your community miners fairly can hurt your coin?
im just one guy but im sure every person mining on that pool is super pissed off that coins are still unconfirmed after 24 hours and they do not respond to support emails....

I mined there for a while but the coins never got confirmed. Could have something to do with the fork...

I'm a complete noob and would like to try to solo mine even if it doesn't make sense for me to. I'd just really like to learn how. Can anyone help me out?

The in-client miner only uses cpu. The basics for using a gpu is that you need to point cgminer to localhost (127.0.0.1) and edit the murica coin .conf file with the proper user/pass and port info. You might want to search google for something like "litecoin solo mining guide" or something like that (both litecoin and murica use scrypt. There are also guides for setting up cgminer and info on the proper setting for your gpu. Quite a few steps to nail down to get it running and then there's about zero chance of mining a block because of the net hashrates.

Looks like I'm out about ~120,000!

Please DM us so we can see what you had pre-fork and get those back to you! Thanks!

Downloaded new wallet, synced after a few minutes and now shows ~32,000. Kind of disappointing to lose ~85K but thanks for addressing the problem.

Ok guys get this! I just got out of my time machine and in the future this coin is worth more than the GDP of Mexico. Also, the Dogecoin 2.0 dev went on to write the Bible 2.0 and direct Citizen Kane II: Electric Boogaloo- both major blockbusters. Gotta run and buy more radeons for launch day. LATERZ!
