I'm sure it's been said before, but Kano and ck, thanks for everything. You're class acts, and the way you look out for the little guys and the community (& technology) as a whole is admirable.

Also a thanks to my fellow poolmates. I don't think I've met a group of kinder more helpful people on the entire Internet. Here's to many more blocks and a lot of fun!

Halving will be the "end" for many minermen...
The strongest ones will overlive.
Who will spend cash for losing cash?
After the halving ...people will keep up...and the "give-uper" will then give oxygen to the survivors...
Mining hardware will be traded for low prices...

If we consider that Bitcoin has a chance of being much more valuable in the future (or also worthless if things go poorly) then depending on where you think the value will go you can offset present losses against future gains. Of course we'll always want to strive for the best short term profit as well to increase our chances at future gains, but it's not the only factor.

Im new and been mining here since i started. I have been considering renting some hash from nh. As Phillip explained the play should be 200th for 25 hours. How much approximatly would that cost. I understand the different pricing  at nh also. Im looking for a few more miners if anyone has any forsale. I enjoy the pool and i think i will be staying here.

The 200Th was an example. The takeaway is that you're generally better off with lower Th and higher duration than higher Th and shorter duration (for a given spend).

They would 51% the network when they came back online, invalidating the fork the rest of the world was working on.

Assuming (unless you know for sure already) that the majority of the contributors to those Chinese pools are also within China and not people elsewhere in the world contributing significantly to them.

I was under the impression it was huge farms out in rural areas in China producing all that heat. No?

There are definitely some huge mines in China, I just wonder how much of their current hash is in house and whether that amount would be >= 51% the total hashing outside given that the numbers we often see at pools include worldwide contributors.

Sigh, greater than 500% ... ok lets see if a ckdb restart can help Smiley

If by chance there's a block found right after you may have opened a can of worms here. Smiley

thanks for the help/time guys

maybe it will resolve? I'll give it time (see edit above)

It sounds to me like you sent your bitcoins to another one of your addresses (perhaps in the same wallet) which would result in a loss of only the 3051 satoshi tx fee.  Does your wallet balance actually show a greater loss?

I have a couple questions please.

1. Has anyone ever hit with a rental from MRR(I know they have from NH, just did..)

2. What happened to worker names being cleared out after seven days? My username "why" has many lame suffixes I would like to clear out. It will just be why.1 from hence forth.

thanks

1.) Yes, blocks have been hit from MRR

2.) don't know about them being cleared out, just use why.1 if you want.  I would use a separate worker for rentals.

Thanks. 1 more question. What are those 3 icons in the upper left of the page? Sometimes look like faces and such.

The green dots? o.o;

Its like ;
- CKPool
- Shares
- Invalid

But more stylish.

They're also status indicators of some sort as seen during the site issue the other day.  Changes to a red icon when things are... not good.  Perhaps indicating whether the data has successfully refreshed lately?

I understand that all the small incoming transactions make the larger outgoing one large in tx size, but would it help to take all those little coins in your pocket and then sending them to another wallet every now and then?  Like let's say I mine 0.02BTC per block found.  Say after 100 blocks at Kano I have 2BTC.  Can I then send that 2BTC to myself to consolidate them before I spend them?  Kind of like house keeping so that when I do buy something that it doesn't get stuck?

1. You'll pay more in tx fees in the long run vs just spending it once and not consolidating.  (Assuming tx fee rates are equal at the time of consolidation and spend)  You get hit with tx during consolidation and again during spend.
2. Transactions not getting stuck are just a matter of selecting a tx fee rate relative to the current market value and the speed you're looking for confirmation.
