I think preorder is probably the best way to go to predict what will sell.  It should help speed production and limit inventory.

I will take two of the one and the two chip design.   Can't wait to see what the boards will be like.

Based on official firmware, with official cgminer source, with nicehash patch, repacked by me, no this is not official, i'm not working on bitmain.

Sorry was not trying to offend.

I like what you have done and will definitely update to it once my Warranty is over.

Thanks for working so hard on this for the community.  Things like this make a good product even better.

Keep up the good work.

Digitalmocking, Just load it via web interface. Like regular bitmain update. Do not modify tar.gz archive.

Is this official firmware or only for people that don't have concerns about Warranty should use?

Wow looks very interesting.

New to this so have some questions.

So water cooled would require me to have some sort of equipment to support this?  Or it will come with everything needed to be up and running out of the box?  Or will you offer or provide information on what should be used?

So at 4THs would be about 2040 watts and so is that with all boards installed or some combination?

Not to put you on the spot but do you have any approx. price range for the first board and chassis with the controller module and for board 2-4?

Also, what time frame before you begin shipping?

As with all new people we ask to many questions.   Grin

Like the idea of the 30 chip board option.  Don't have a Prisma but can always hack something together for the boards.

I like how your team is thinking big and small.  Like they say "if you build it they will come"  and sounds like you're getting there.

Thanks for answering so quick.

Glad you are trying to be as fair as possible with both big and little guys.

Another question, about how many Zero boards would a Pi be able to control and would it be able to control both the Zero boards and the Stickminers or separate Pi's for each?  My first thoughts are both would work but with the Pi controlling fans it would be best to keep separate.  But I know nothing about this, I understand that you might have to do testing before you might know.  But just want to get the question out there.

If spondoolies was ever going to do something now would be the time.

Makes you wonder whether they were spooked by the same competitor that bitmain were worried about ... but were they, like bitmain, brave enough to place firm orders to have their chips fabricated?

More likely they didn't want to invest further in manufacturing current-gen technology whose bottom-end efficiency is pretty much on par with current or upcoming competition's stock efficiency, so they could put money into R&D for the next-gen stuff to actually compete directly with whoever Bitmain's worried about in another month or two.

Additionally, when factoring longevity into S5 calculations recall that BM1384 chips are rated to run around 0.25W/GH with sufficient undervolt/underclock. That takes the S5 from a 600W 1100GH machine to a 125W 500GH machine.
Did you ever get further into your project to make a DC/DC supply for the S5? I haven't updated the firmware on mine since I got it to see if the issues with running at reduced volts was a firmware limit, but I'd be interested to know if anyone's actually gotten them down to 9V stable.

Hi, would be interested in getting these lower for Summer and longer.  So a DC/DC supply would be great if the price works out.

Have a question, but let me start by saying that I know nothing about pretty much everything so forgive me if the question is stupid.

I have read that the undervolt/underclock is not stable.  I am wondering is the issue possibly the controller board for these since they receive power from the Boards at a fixed voltage.  Could the Controller boards not be getting enough power and that is causing the stability issues?  Or could it be the fan drawing more power as the boards heat up?

We likely will be building one- and two-chip stickminers. They're great for learning, which is one reason we want to make even the USB sticks with adjustable clock and voltage. Noobs can learn the basics of pools and wallets and cgminer CLI and even a bit of hardware tweaking for $20 instead of having to buy a $400 machine.

Sure it makes no financial sense to buy a stick miner if all you're looking at is the bottom line profitability. But not everyone looks only at the bottom line profitability - myself included. I made more coin from learning about the hardware itself and using that knowledge for repairs and upgrades than I ever made mining. Some folks just want a first-tier tool to play with and try to understand how a thing works before going big. Why tear down a Corvette to learn about engines when you can take apart a lawn mower first?

Hi, would be interested in one or two of the two-chip stickminers   To play with and fund the Boards.

Question will people that purchase the sticks get first dibs for boards since I would guess first run would be limited?  Not trying to cause any issues just asking.

Also, are you saying with current chips and all things going smoothly you might have a first batch of Zero Boards by mid June or July?

is it possible to power an s5 with a 550W gold psu? Seasonic G-550 80+ Gold Modular

Hi, has anyone manage checkout on bitmaintech using USD?

I've had two customers buy S5's from me on eBay who said that thried and could not complete a USD purchase directly from Bitmain, tho i do not know the details why -- one also said he could not use his $400-off S4 coupon unless he paid with BTC.

-dave

yeap.. had to contact them directly to make the purchase

I used the USD option online and worked fine for me.  Just had to do the Wire transfer, which was difficult matching all required fields, but once sent they replied next day order accepted.  Shipped early and just got today.  So does work.

As usual with Bitmain, we pre-ship again!  (Shipped Earlier than announced)

It was great getting the news that my S5 shipped before the 30th. However mine is being held up in customs. Fedex is asking for an FCC form 740. Any help with this would be great as I don't know any of the information they want on the form.

Sorry to hear.  I used UPS option and had no delays, got mine today.   You might try UPS next time if you order again.

Found the form for you, hope that helps.  Looks like an FCC Form.  Good luck.  You might let FedEx know it is a computer and does not have any Radio functions.
