Is crypto currency priced solely determined by the whales?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 16/11/2018, 02:01:43 UTC
The price and news seem never correlated. We were poured with all the positive technology news, yet cc price dropped. And sometime there is no news yet price doubles. Nobody knows what will happen in the near future. When are we getting a distributed exchange network that could facilitate all financial transactions, making them less expensive and more efficient? I'm starting to wonder if prices are manipulated? If whales dumped BTC, they must have done so to buy back at lower price, am I right? If that’s the case they plan to sell at much higher price in order to make profit, bull will run, right?

What hashrate does Bitcoin require to be stable?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 15/11/2018, 23:13:19 UTC
What hashrate would Bitcoin require to sit safely above the potential interference of (state-level) bad actors? Have there been analyses/estimates on this subject? I understand miners have more incentive to be honest than to undermine the network they maintain, but what if, finances aside, some entity with no stake in Bitcoin decides to redirect a couple of datacentres to the BTC network with the intention to wreak havoc. What kind of influence would this have on the network?

Unconfirmed Transaction

I used the Copay wallet and sent some BTC 3 hours ago but no confirmations, and I paid a $0.45 miner fee. Is it true that with the Electrum desktop wallet you can set your own transaction fee? Please can someone help, the Copay wallet is a nightmare!

How is Bitcoin (or cryptocurrency in general) censorship resistant?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 15/11/2018, 21:21:10 UTC
Is there something in the protocol that hides Bitcoin transactions? I don't think so? Could my internet provider just block Bitcoin transactions and then it would be a censored cryptocurrency?

How do Bitcoin ATM's work?
by

Does it just print out a paper wallet? Tired of waiting for my bank to take two weeks to send money to my exchange. Has anyone got experiences of these ATM's?

What were the final days like prior to the following bull run?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 12/11/2018, 03:15:35 UTC
Sentiment right now seems to be through the floor on various crypto subs and alts are crying day and night. There hasn't been a substantial change in BTC lately and the volatility seems to have dropped significantly in Q4. We are approaching the one year anniversary of the peak, so my question to those than held or spectated last time:

What was it like and how does this compare?

Purchasing Bitcoin in person?

I was wondering if it's possible to purchase bitcoins in person? Anywhere in the world? Something that wouldn't leave financial records of my purchases? Making a deposit too would be good. Would anyone else be interested in it?

Why is does it take so long to shut down an node used only as a JSON-RPC server?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 11/11/2018, 22:22:52 UTC
I'm trying to sync a full node that will only be used as a JSON-RPC server (no mining). I tried to modify the config file and added a service unit, so that the node can run in a low-end VPS with minimum RAM and CPU capabilities. The problem is that the server takes too long to stop, and it's terminated by the system, so it always start rewinding blocks that have been already downloaded.

Japan Approves Self-Regulation for Cryptocurrency Industry
by
Drysprinkles291
on 11/11/2018, 21:51:54 UTC
Japan’s primary financial regulator has formally granted the cryptocurrency industry with a self-regulatory status by allowing an industry body to police domestic exchanges. With the acquisition of the accreditation, they'll continue to make further efforts to create an industry that people can trust from everyone who uses virtual currency with members exchanges. Do you think we'll see this happening in other countries anytime soon?

How Crypto Will Grow Into an Institutional Asset Class
by
Drysprinkles291
on 11/11/2018, 21:43:43 UTC
So, institutional exchanges for cryptocurrency represent a multi-billion-dollar whitespace market, but until institutional investors have a regulated, full featured trading exchange with diverse sets of spot and derivatives products, their adoption will be super slow, and crypto will continue to fall short of being the robust, legitimate asset class that it can be. What are institutional investors supposed to do since many want to make meaningful moves in the crypto markets now, not years from now?

Bitcoin Banks Are Coming. Should That Make You Nervous?
by

This article on https://blockexplorer.com/news/bitcoin-banks-are-coming/ made me wonder... Bitcoin was designed to operate outside the banking system, right? It was created so that you don’t have to trust a bank or third-party. So how does it works if we get Bitcoin banks?

Help in verifying my Ledger Nano S transactions with a Bitcoin Full node
by
Drysprinkles291
on 09/11/2018, 02:22:26 UTC
From past suggestions, I understood that I can verify my hardware wallet transactions with the help of Electrum Server. I synced a full bitcoin node with txindex=1, but can not get Electrum app to connect to the local server. I followed this tutorial online: https://freedomnode.com/blog/69/how-to-install-an-electrum-server-using-full-bitcoin-node-and-electrumx but the link to documentation for electrumx.conf does not work and can't find it. Also tried installing Electrum Personal Server with no luck! Suggestions??

Surprising Bitcoin Survey Reveals U.K. To Be A Nation Of Crypto Believers

⭐ Merited by kryptqnick (1)
One of the key principles behind cryptocurrencies is the notion that their value is controlled not by a central institution, but by the people using it, which I think has a major affect on people becoming more interested, amidst Brexit and global trade tensions. Not so surprising?

Wallets stuck on sync
by
Drysprinkles291
on 09/11/2018, 00:45:33 UTC
So I bought some Bitcoins from CoinCorner with a purchase in mind. I sent £50 each in BTC to an Electrum wallet and a Bitcoin Core, on Linux, on a decent machine. Both wallets are now synchronising endlessly. The Bitcoin Core one is telling me that it will take 12 days. That sometimes increases to six weeks. I've googled and it seems that a lot of folk are reporting insane sync times... When can I expect to see my money?  Angry

Help with Mlycelium cancellations
by
Drysprinkles291
on 09/11/2018, 00:13:06 UTC
So I transferred some money from Mycelium to another wallet (unconfirmed at time of cancellation), but being impatient and it says it would only be deleted from the app if already confirmed. However, it also said that if not confirmed, I would have to sync it to be able to use the funds again. So my questions are:

1. How do I sync my mycelium wallet

2. Will it still transfer to the other wallet if I don't do anything?

Would appreciate any help somewhat new to crypto. Thanks

Bitcoin IRA?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 06/11/2018, 03:47:32 UTC
I am looking into setting up a Roth IRA funded with bitcoin, as the gains are tax-free. One of the options I have seen is to do a “self-directed IRA” where you set up an LLC as the owner of the account. I’m still working on understanding this better. Any suggestions?

How can we make Crypto go viral?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 06/11/2018, 00:22:44 UTC
Now, crypto is a currency people can choose to use. They don't have to. We need to build it as good as possible so that people who choose it, can. And those of us who want and have time and resources, focus on building good showcases, demonstrating that it works. Is rapid adoption that necessary? We need to be able to learn as we scale upwards. Right now, we're in the middle of the development after having learnt that "on-chain isn't the be-all end-all scaling solution". It was a fight getting here, and in the end the big-blockers went and created their own coin, which I think was good for all parties. Has it gone viral already, in a way?

Why are there no rewards for running a full node?
by
Drysprinkles291
on 06/11/2018, 00:04:59 UTC
i think it should be incentivized to run a updated full node. Why was it originally not intended to have build in rewards for people who make an effort like this?
