I'm not a crypto vet, haven't been around these parts nearly as long as most of all of the people posting on this thread.  So, I can't necessarily offer the perspective of along history with Denarius or crypto in general.

What I can say is that, being a newb, I've bitten on the hook of several scams unfortunately.  And Denarius is like none of those.  I discovered it a couple of months ago, and was struck by the level of engagement and openness that Carsen has in the discord, the level of continued development, and smart, passionate supporters that are contributing to the project and community.  That is a lot different than the several faceless, anonymous, money pandering scamcoins I've seen, with devs disappearing once pre-mine or ICO or donation funds have reached their fancy, or dumping their huge hordes of coins on exchanges and pocketing the BTC while leaving the price at virtually zero for the true investors.

Granted, I'm not the tech savvy dude that's gonna read the github and compare the code to other projects.  Just can say that this is definitely not an abandoned project, and it is garnering new interest.  It's passed the smell test for me as being legit.  And so, I'd have to imagine it's definitely worth looking more deeply in before calling it a scam, cause it's not like any scams I've seen.

Loving this coin. Haven't even explored all of the capabilities, need to grab enough to get a Fortuna Stake.  But the wallet is one of the slickest I've seen, and the transaction speeds are solid.  Website is off the hook, and shows a great foundation for this currency.  There are long term passionate leaders and community members in their discord.  And there is a ton of progress being made.  Really excited to have discovered this gem!

Been trading and chatting on unnamed exchange for about a month now.  It is growing quickly.  I will say that it is one of the fastest, smoothest, and most user friendly exchanges I've ever been on in every facet. I'd encourage you to visit the discord.  You can typically get fast real time support and detailed troubleshooting.  It's one of the great things about the community.  There are many committed and knowledgeable members eager to help.   

For anyone checking out bitcointalk, I encourage you to check out the discord.  It is the most vibrant and up to date interactions of the community.  There are events virtually every day, usually multiple times.  And many people in the know.  There are many cool things happening in Elite.  If you've downloaded the newest wallet update, I'm sure you've already experienced the improvement there.  Hope to see you all there!

I set up a account to buy some x42, and did several test transactions initially before using the exchange for larger buy orders.  Every single transaction was seamless.  Deposits and withdrawals are very reasonable.  It functions better than many larger and more well known exchanges I've used.

It may be more helpful to go the Elite discord, and go to the #walletsupport channel and see if someone can help you.  It's easier to communicate in real time in there.

However, I can tell you that you do not need to add "staking=1" to the conf file in the Elite wallet to stake. It's set up to stake once it's fully synced automatically.  And to the point of someone else that responded, it does have to unlocked for staking.

Is the up-arrow in the bottom right corner of the wallet not green? Also, depending on how many coins you have, staking will take longer with smaller balances.   

I've had my Norton Antivirus flag almost every single wallet I've downloaded, but mostly it's because they are "unknown" and could be a risk, in the eyes of the antivirus.  I've just had to set an exception for the wallets I trust.

The Elite wallet is absolutely trustworthy! From Flapmin, to LadyWhaleCoin, and every other person I've interacted with on the Elite team, I believe it is one of the most character driven projects in crypto.  There is no trojan or anything of concern.
