Re: Is bitify safe?
by
Duetschpire
on 12/06/2017, 05:13:38 UTC
I would like to purchase some gift cards off of bitify, but they require me to send them a picture of my photo I.D. as well as proof of my address. Is this safe? Is bitify a website I can trust with this information?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hi, Thanks for considering trying Bitify. Please note that you do not need to be verified to buy on the site. Only sellers wishing to sell gift cards or fiat to BTC credit are required to be verified. This is to help us protect both our buyers and ourselves.

Thanks to everyone who's put a good word out there for us. You've always been a supporting community Smiley

Note: always use escrow when buying with Bitcoin; whether it's on Bitify or any other site/service. If you're planning on buying gift cards using Bitcoin, always use/redeem the balance on the gift cards before releasing escrow. Checking the card has balance is not enough, you have to remember this is a virtual card so whoever sent it to you already has a copy of the code and can easily use/redeem the balance after they receive escrow.

Bitify.com - Instant Delivery, Super Sellers, and New Fees
by
Duetschpire
on 16/05/2017, 12:20:38 UTC

In an effort to save users time and money, Bitify is pleased to announce the roll out of two great new features and a new fee structure.

Instant Delivery! Deliver/Receive Gift Cards, Keys, and Accounts Instantly

Bitify is excited to introduce a feature many of our users have been eagerly waiting for… Instant Delivery! With Instant Delivery sellers are able to bulk upload gift card codes, accounts, product keys, etc when listing items, which are then delivered instantly to buyers by email when they purchase. This not only reduces the effort for sellers, but greatly reduces the delivery time for buyers too, adding a new level of convenience all round. Sellers are able to see which codes were delivered with each sale in “Sold Items”, as well view/edit the remaining stock. Buyers receive their codes instantly by email as soon as their funds are confirmed, and can also view them through their “Won Items”.
When sellers list an item they will have the option to select Instant Delivery. From their they can either upload a CSV file with the codes/pins or manually enter the codes/account/keys. When you enter the codes, you need to separate them with a comma. Sellers can upload as many codes as they wish, the buyer will receive the number of codes purchased from the seller. The sold codes will be depleted from the quantity remaining and will not be sent to another buyer again.

Super Sellers! Yes, Quicker Escrow Release

Bitify appreciates the support our users have shown over the years and we are awarding sellers who have received over 100 positive feedback reviews* with a new account level, Super Seller! Super Sellers will enjoy automatic escrow releases in 10 days rather than the usual 30 days, will benefit from a reduced 2.5% fee on all sales, and have the ability to list buy-now items with “No End Date”. *Sellers must have made 100 sales in the past 12 months, have at least 100 feedback reviews, and have achieved at least 90% positive feedback. If you meet this criteria, your account will automatically be converted to Super Seller and you will receive an email from us notifying you of the change.

New Fee System! Fairer & Better Value for Money

With the recent surge in Bitcoin price, we understand that it is no longer fare for us to expect our sellers and buyers to pay a 0.001 BTC minimum fee. From today we are completely removing the minimum seller fee on sold items, allowing you to sell low-value items without getting stung with high fees. To accommodate this, we are increasing the fee on sold items from 2.5% to 4.5%, with Super Sellers continuing to pay 2.5%. Overall this will result in savings in seller fees on all items below ~$70 (based on Bitcoin price of $1750).

Our escrow fees are also changing. From now on escrow fees will be a fixed at $0.50 on items under $10, $1 on items between $10-$20, and then calculated at 2.5% (min $1.50) on items over $20. Whilst overall our escrow fee % is increasing, these changes will actually represent a saving in fees on items below $35, with over 70% saved on $10 items (our most popular selling price).

Featured fees will follow the same price scale as escrow fees, fixed at $0.50 on items under $10, $1 on items between $10-$20, and then calculated at 2.5% (min $1.50) on items over $20. Again this will represent a saving on items below $70 compared with the current minimum fee.

Network fees are going to continue to be based on the average fee needed to have your transactions confirm within 5 blocks. This is charged to sellers receiving payouts from us and buyers receiving refunds. For the short-term this is an unavoidable charge, but Bitify is working to improve the situation. We are currently reviewing a number of solutions to reduce the network fees that you pay, such as letting you choose the urgency/fee for the transaction, grouping multiple payments to individual sellers, virtual wallets for buyers and sellers, and delayed/batched transactions. We will keep you posted on our progress!

Gratz on the good news. Having used the service before I can say that the system works well - escrow deals with the shady deals as long as you don't release it early. My only problem has been a lack of sellers for items I've wanted to buy in the past. Are there any plans to find some more sellers?

Yes definitely, we are working on getting more sellers by adding some great features like bulk upload and management of items and sales, this should attract small-medium businesses and allow them to upload whole inventories to the site. This is a massive feature and requires a lot of time and effort, but we're hoping to get it done ASAP.

Hi! I have been selling stuff on cryptothrift for a year and I love this new rebrand because I think this site needs some thing new. And you gave us this rebrand Grin I hope that you will be able to attract more and more seller as well as customers to your site! BTW your escrow service is perfect!

Thanks for the good word. We are working with few Bitcoin related companies to integrate some cool features very soon. This should increase both user base and trust in our service.
I'm glad our escrow service is there to assist you.

We need to register again? I didn't receive any email with the info. I think that you have to email all the registered users and make a new promo to gain more users.

You don't need to register again. All users are still registered as before. Please contact support if you're unable to log in.

I'm glad you like the new name.

Nothing will be changing yet, this is just a brand name change, hopefully in the near future we will have more tools for seller to manage their listings and sales.

Satoshilabs & CryptoThrift running daily auctions to support #OneSafePregrancy
by
Duetschpire
on 22/08/2015, 21:58:00 UTC
It's really great to see ChangeTip and Direct Relief work hand in hand to support African women in an effort to stop death during pregnancy. Direct Relief has been rated 100% efficient by Forbes they are also known for transparency and commitment.

SatoshiLabs & CryptoThrift have followed in ChangeTip's footsteps and took it a step further by organizing charitable auctions to run daily for 7 consecutive days. SatoshiLabs is auctioning TREZOR Lavender daily and all profit (post $109 USD) will go directly to Direct Relief's #OneSafePregnancy campaign. So far two TREZORs have been auctioned and 5 more to go.

TREZOR is currently the number one hardware wallet in more than 70 countries, for more information about TREZOR please visit SatoshiLabs website.

CryptoThrift have waved all fees on this charitable event and would to encourage Bitcoiners who would like to donate to the campaign to come forward and place their bids.

It's a 2 man show, and they lock money in escrow for weeks due to insane or scam buyers.

One of the guys is sulky, the other I'm not sure.

But they have day jobs so we should cut them some slack and  get ripped off to accommodate that.

Still it's something just not everything.

It's like Pirate Bay you win some you lose some. But Pirate bay is free.

As the founder of CryptoThrift, I can confirm that avax is indeed CoinTrade (CryptoThrift Username) and I'm stating such as we have received a correspondence from the seller to confirm the accounts are linked.
Cointrade is one of our very first users to sign up, you can see his account number is 462 and we're up to over 43,000 users now.

We encourage sellers such as CoinTrade/avax as we have had nothing but good stuff to hear about him from our buyers and his feedback on the site speaks for itself.

'jacky' on cryptothrift is a thief.

Also to be found on icq (651191522).

May give this email address - tongere.j@gmail.com

Be warned.

Informed the mods, no response.

how did he scam you? I mean there's forced escrow on the site. could you elaborate please?

It's largely my fault.

I usually try and contact sellers before buying, the guy didn't respond until after, outside the realms of cryptothrift.

Then we attempted to do the deal. Offered to send in instalments. Took the first instalment, no response.

So as far as I'm concerned dude is a scammer.

Sorry to hear you've had an issue with a seller on the site. I've checked their account, sales, buys, listed items, etc... and found 0 activity on the site.
The user never bought or sold an item on the site. As for the split transfer, you've decided to use our site to contact potential sellers and deal with them outside the system we have in place which is a breach to our terms and conditions. These terms and conditions have been put in place to protect our users and you failed to follow them.

No worries, lesson learned.

Was more annoyed yesterday.

Wasn't a great deal of money but would still like the user banned.

I'm looking into his account now and will take the appropriate action against it.

The vendor still has to resolve the previous transaction that we had.

The mods have been informed.

The vendor was communicating but is outside of the agreed period that he said he would resolve the problem.

The refund was sent back to your nominated address 3 seconds before you submitted this reply Smiley

On behalf of CryptoThrift, I would like to thank those who have used the site and have given us such postive feedback.
For others who haven't tried the site and have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask here or even via our support portal/email, we'll be glad to clear anything up.

I would also like to take this opportunity to shed some light on few points:

- We are 100% transparent, CryptoThrift is a registered business owned by Australian developers and registered in Australia.
- We went live in September 2013 and have achieved contunual growth in the number of users, sales, and of course support requests.
- We received over 2,100 support tickets last month ranging from general questions to escrow disputes and refunds, and are proud to have been maintained over 94% customer satisfaction.
- Although we were subject to a security breach in October of last year, all customer funds that were lost were immediately returned back to them at the owners expense.  At the same time we introduced an improved escrow system which is more secure and holds a much higher percentage of escrow funds in cold storage.
- Traffic to the site continues to increase, with the number of new users having tripled within the last 6 months.
- If you're a user on the site and would like to share your experience with the community, please apply to become an affiliate and include your referral URL so you can be rewarded for promoting us Smiley

Again, don't hesitate to ask any questions, we might not be on this forum 24/7, but we do monitor CryptoThrift related posts regularly and will reply ASAP.

Cheers,
Ahmad

It's my first time posting here but I just wanted to share my experiences in case anyone wants to use CryptoThrift. They are pretty much hit or miss for me.

While I have made several successful purchases that went smoothly, I have also encountered a lot of scammers.

A few incidences involved the seller asking me to release the escrow, otherwise they won't deliver the item. No buyer in their right mind would release the escrow without receiving the item. One seller then gave me a negative rating and called me a scammer simply because I won't release the escrow until I get the amazon gift code. Scammers playing the victim roles!  Roll Eyes

Another incident involved amazon gift cards again. The seller tried to sell me a used gift code. Good thing I checked the code first before releasing the escrow. The seller kept insisting the code he gave me is valid then called me a scammer because I won't release the escrow!

On two of the four incidences, CryptoThrift did come back to me after I filed a report and they gave me my refund after 3 days which was good.... though they took 0.0001 BTC on each refund as the transaction fee lol but whatever at least I got most of my money back. For the other two, I'm still waiting....

Even though they refund you after 3 days, it's still quite stressful to deal with the matter and to try to reason with the scammers so I think I will stop using CryptoThrift for now unless they do something to minimize the scammers on their site. For now I'll keep stick with Purse.io for my purchases.

Caivi, thanks a lot for your feedback! We appreciate users trying the site and letting us know how we can improve our service.

We are looking into ways to reduce the scam attempts on the site, it's easier said than done due to the nature of Bitcoin, but we haven't given up yet on brainstorming new ideas.
We are also working on the feedback system and will be limiting the conditions where sellers and buyers can exchange feedback. In your case, once you've paid for an item you should be able to give the seller a feedback, but the seller should only be able to give you a feedback after they mark the item as shipped.

We are also working on an auto-suspend feature which will crawl the sellers' accounts and suspend those with xx% of bad feedback taking into account the age of the account and the number of sales they have.

As for the refunds we give the sellers the benefit of the doubt to respond to the refund request by shipping the item or contacting the buyer to resolve the issue. A lot of the sellers do as they know they would otherwise lose on a sale. Your refunds are being processed and should be send out shortly.

It's shame but as in most walks of life, its all ways the few that ruin it for the rest of us.

I use CryptoThrift to sell some of my digital products, and it works pretty well most of the time.

This is not meant to ruin it for any one. In fact, affiliates are making even more money now that the payment is 5 times as much ones their referrals buy or sell on the site  Smiley.

I have already reported an excessive amount of spamming of users' referral links for CryptoThrift on this forum's Marketplace subsections.

Thanks for doing so! This is the main reason we have revamped the affiliates rewards and limited the reward for referrals who buy or sell only, not for just signing up/in.

1%??

Most affiliate programs pay 10-20x that.   Undecided

True, that's when the site is selling their own products. But we charge 2.5% fee, so you would earn 40% of our fee if that makes sense?

Edit: I should clarify that we're a marketplace where other users list their products and we only charge a fee once the item sells.
