Re: Can I retrieve My Bitcoin?

Hey Everyone,

I appreciate all the replies and help!

I'll try to answer all the questions:

-The amount was just over a bitcoin.... major loss?... Naw.  It was more sentimental than anything.  It was all I had left over from my mining days and loss from FlowerT and 50btc.com.
-I did not transfer the wallet from one phone to the next... I simply created a new wallet on the new phone and sent the BTC.
- The suggestion of taking the phone into a repair place is a good one... or i'll atleast attempt it!
- Unfortunately I did not have the key for it

Seeing that mining now or In the future is questionable... and it looks like I might be purchasing a BTC or Two.... Is now a good time to invest in BTC?

Thanks again!

Can I retrieve My Bitcoin?

Hey everyone,

I'm sorry for the possibly elementary question... but scenario:

My BlackBerry Z10 had some bitcoin on it using the app "Bitcoin Wallet".  I transferred the BTC from another phone, to the current Z10... but unfortunately the Z10 died.  It wont boot.. I cant access the data..etc..  Is there a way retrieve my money through the block chain... or any other way?

On Another topic... I stopped mining BTC about two years ago and was part of the whole Flower Tech Scam... I've been out of the loop for quite some time...But i see the difficulty rates decreasing... Could mining for small individuals become feasible again?

Thank you for any help...!

Asus Maximus rig help
by

Hey Everyone,

I have a water cooled rig with a i5 and Asus Maximus board. Overkill..but I wanted to try a water cooled machine and I got it for a good price, used. It came with two 6950's and it was running steady for a couple weeks.... But for the search of more hash, I took out the 6950's and put in two watercooled 6990's with one watercooled 6950.  I apologize for not having the exact motherboard model, but there are four pcie x16 and one partial pciex4 slots.  I'm running windows 7 and I installed ATI 13.12.  It's only recognizing the first 6990.  So before a fresh windows install and trying different drivers I'd give BAMT a try.... Same problem... It's gotta be a motherboard problem... Right? What am I missing?   I tried connecting the crossfire between both 6990's and no change in result.

Help!

Thanks Smiley

The Stock Cooler for the Gigabyte 7970 isn't the greatest.   When I had these cards a year I ago, I know they 80^C under good conditions.  The current 7970 that I have running, was going to 100^C and then throttling down.  I had to get an after-market heatsink/cooler.  I spent $50 on the Gelid and so far, it's money well spent.

While on the topic of just after-market heatsinks/coolers.... I bought the Arctic Accelero for my 6990's.  WOW.... while I got a deal off ebay for two of them... I would have paid full retail!  The temps are low and MUCH Quieter!  I live in  an apartment, so for the sake of my Sanity... Quiet is good!  I do have one rig that is water cooled.  I think eventually i'll have to be doing this for everything... especially once we're in summer.  But that's a long term project.

I think there may be some confusion

Pontiacg5: I did try both switches on the card.... But I'll try again.  I'll even try reflashing the other side of the switch.

CrazyAtes:. I have three gigabyte 7970's. Two are fried and i'm trying to get them running again.... Which includes changing out heatsinks and fans.  As for the card you're referring too, it's working, but gets extremely hot, way to quick.  I was hoping to get an accelero locally, but unfortunately they were all sold out.  I ended up buying a Gelding and just put it onto the functioning card today.  While the gelding does not have the quality of the Arctic Accelero.... Brutal instructions and expect to spend a lot of time assembling....... The results are impressive.  The card is running much more stable and substantially cooler.  Success! Thanks to everyone help Smiley.  Now I just gotta get the other cards to work... The challenge continues.

There's three bios's. I tried the newest and oldest.  No result.  I'd really like to get these to work... nothing like overcoming a good challenge.  I did use ATI WinFlash and not the DOS version.. Do you think that would make a difference?

No backups were made (I know, idiot!).  I can find my wallet.dat file.  I have not opened it or used any software on it.... but will it contain my btc on the correct address?  Or will it be the creation of the new address on this computer... after running BitcoinQt?

Bitcoin QT/Wallet Help!?!

Hey Everyone,

It looks like my primary rig has a bad Mobo.  As soon as the PSU is flipped on, it turns on for about 15 seconds and then turns off.  This is without even hitting the Mobo power button.

Anyways.... my Wallet was stored on this rigs hard drive.  I took the hard drive and installed it into another computer, hoping I can recover my BTCs.  I go into the hard drive, click on BitcoinQT and it starts up... but my wallet address has changed and my balance is zero.... HELP?!

Should my specific wallet/address with my coins be on a file somewhere?

I'm going to reflash the two broken cards... which is difficult without them even posting (black screen).  I believe I need use a loaner card while flashing the 7970 in dos.

I also bought an after market cooler... a Gelid.  Arctic was all sold out, but these Gelids do fill in the gap over the GPU and i've heard decent things about them.  Keep ya'll posted.

UPDATE:  I installed the Gelid Cooler on a "Dead" Gigabyte 7970.  I put it into a Mobo with a loaner 5770.  Initially I was going to Flash through DOS... but surprisingly I was able to get into Windows with both cards installed (I've had issues before).  Using ATI WinFlash, I flashed the newest Gigabyte 7970 Bios (techpowerup.com).  I shutdown and then installed just the 7970.  Nothing... absolutely nothing on the monitor (DVI & HDMI).  I go back to using the loaner card and installing the oldest bios on the 7970.  Same results, but when checking out GPUz, it somewhat recognizes the card.  http://s8.postimg.org/ivvq6aof9/Untitled.png
What I find interesting is that GPUz see's it, MSI afterburner see's it, but I still can't use it as a independent card.  GUIminer does not see it.  I was hoping to use the 5770 to see whats going on while mining with the 7970... no go Sad

What next?

Quick review on the Gelid Cooler on a Gigabyte 7970... not fun!  As for the actual temperature improvements... not sure yet.  I need a working card.  But in terms of installation... the instructions... SUUUCCCCK!  And none of the VRM heat sinks work for the gigabyte 7970.  I had to use the stock cooler.  Not overly impressed... so far.

Yes, the cards have the stock fans and heat sink.  I'd be very suprised if this issue was caused by the heatsink.  My thinking is either the bios or hardware is fried....?

the silver shim around the GPU is there... slightly scratched, but its there.

UPDATE:  ok I stand corrected.... I took the heatsink off and I clearly didn't put enough thermal compound on.  Actually I think it was enough... but that shim does create a slight gap, so more compound is needed.  I put the card back into the PC.. started it up and yes.. it improved.  Temporarily :p the temp started at 60 and gradually got to 98, where the core clock started to throttle again.  So the probablem still persists of it getting too hot and throttling.  Whats next.....:s

7970 Issues

Hey Everyone,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

So i bought three used Gigabyte 7970's... for cheap!  So far, one of the three actually posts and is able to get into windows.  The previous owner swears they ran months ago... but they were water cooled.  He since put the stock coolers back on.... using thermal compound on the VRM's instead of thermal pads.  I've taken the one operating card, cleaned it up... put some proper thermal compound on the GPU and Pads on the VRMS.

The card posts and gets into windows.  I load MSI Afterburner and GuiMiner.  As soon as i start to mine... the card INSTANTLY goes to 98+^C and core clock Rapidily fluctuates between 501 & 1050. The card does hash, but it's low.  After about a minute... It doesnt feel like the card is putting out 98+^C.... so something isn't right!  I've installed fresh drivers, i've tried both BIOS switch positions on the card and i'm thinking about reflashing.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

I agree rudyo... I've thought about setting a rig to a different pool (is the only other one thats comparable, multipool?) to see what the results are..... but I've been happy with Middlecoin.

I just want to put a kibosh on those who are complaining or about to. People, we've had an incredible run these past few days, let's give kudos to H2O, he did an amazing job. The "low" payout today is the NORMAL. I have about 4 MHs and I remember getting 0.002 to 0.02 in November, on daily basis.

Get used to it, spoiled bratz!

PS: If you just joined the pool today or yesterday, my apologies.

Hey James,

I can only really speak for myself... and maybe a couple others.  But my general feeling is that were not complaining, but concerned more than anything... and I think that's based on lack of experience/knowledge on what's going on.  While I don't understand the in-depth technical side of middlecoin and scrypt currencies, I can appreciate exchange rates and outcomes.  Yes... we'll have good days and bad days.  Completely understandable!  Where I'm having a disconnect and/or lack of understanding is that my miners had been going strong for 12+hours with no change to my immature/unexchanged balances.  Regardless of how bad the exchanges are, shouldn't there be a slight change?

As mentioned before, I appreciate Middlecoin and what it has to offer!  Props to H20!  But I will agree with other members... and not that its required because I do enjoy Middlecoins simplicity... but it would be very beneficial and informative to know which currencies are being mined (unless I'm in the dark and you can be shown).  This may shed some light on the less educated (includes myself) and quick to judge people.

Only my 2 cents. Smiley

Yea, things are fairly unstable with my miners.  I'm going to try the .EU but are things being resolved on US server?

Hey, just an update for me.  I've been running my miners through .EU and it seems to be much more stable.  From what I've read, I'm sure the latency is caused by the large increase in demand for this pool.  I've been on this pool for a couple months and it's been great!  I love it because it's simple and the BTC is deposited directly to my wallet.  Awhile back I was with 50Btc and I lost a fair bit of BTC because of their hacking.... I wasn't happy about that!  But now... I can only hold myself responsible for any lost BTC's.

Is there any way to find out which currency is being mined through middlecoin?

Another thing I've noticed since switching to .EU is that my stats on the website are either really low or delayed/incorrect.  I've got 4m/hash going and I've only earned .02BTC in the last 18hrs.  I'm usually around .05btc.  My guess is that the site is just super bogged down and is unable to update... could this be?  I hope I'm still earning....
UPDATE:  I just refreshed middlecoin.com and my hash rate has updated.... while my balances haven't changed at all (even from hours ago).  Or the change has been soooo insignificant I can't even see it?  Whats going on? :S
