Re: do you guys pay Taxes for profit?
by
EchoZulu
on 28/02/2018, 17:41:27 UTC
I'm in Canada.
I didn't use an accountant, I just declared capital gains and paid tax on everything I sold to Fiat through Kraken or Quadriga, mostly because they know exactly who I am and I assume they will be reporting that to the government at some point.
I didn't report any altcoins trades that happened on sites like Binance or BitFinEx.
If you want to declare your gains from an ICO you should report it like any other trade - you are deemed to have sold Ethereum/Bitcoin when you payed into the ICO and bought Coin X, so gains on the Bitcoin/Ethereum are realized at that point.

Re: What are ur btc tax plans
by

My plans are to pay a lot in taxes this year because I was too dumb to plan ahead and the pump to $20k happened a lot faster than I was expecting.
If the price of Bitcoin and Ethereum keeps going up like it has this past year, I'm seriously thinking about moving to Panama.

Ledger Nano S.
If you're serious about getting into crypto just spend the damn money and sleep easier at night knowing your private keys are secure.

Would it be possible to use a web-of-trust system to automatically resolve forks that occur when a node is offline?
This would just be a way of formalizing and automating the current plan to have nodes ask around about what exactly happened when they weren't looking, I think.

I would answer 'High School' but I can't figure out how to vote in the poll.
I'll let the reader decide whether I'm joking or not.

If your plan is to start looking for weapons and shelter after the invasion has already started, I think you're pretty much screwed.

Re: What were the most disturbing scenes in movies or televison shows?
by
EchoZulu
on 20/06/2014, 04:36:37 UTC
The scene from the movie Michael Clayton where the two hitmen paralyze the victim but leave him conscious while they inject him with an overdose.
It was just so creepy.

Also, a short documentary I watched about how animals are treated in China. They apparently skin them alive because it comes off easier that way.
There's this one shot of a poor little thing with all the skin peeled off its face but its eyelashes somehow still attached, just lying there panting and blinking and looking pitiful on a pile of others just like it.

The Red Wedding was pretty shocking. Especially if you're too stupid to figure out why it's unusual for someone to be wearing chainmail at a wedding feast.

I don't see how this could possibly work unless we started attaching verified genders, ethnicities, and religions to addresses.
Otherwise we wouldn't be able to deprive people of their right to marry, and I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I happen to think we already get enough hurricanes each year.

Buy shares in a company that does this professionally.
Either that or mine something other than Bitcoin.
The era of individuals successfully mining is over.

I think he means producers of the actual machines. There are only a handful of startups working on them.

If you were the size of a spider and he was the size of a man, do you think he would even hesitate before biting you in half?
He is your enemy, it is the natural order of things.

I think this is a good idea, let market valuation start as soon as possible.
From the previous discussion threads it sounds like a lot of users would appreciate this.

Re: How can we sell Bitcoins to Argentina?
by
EchoZulu
on 12/05/2014, 02:24:33 UTC
Agreed, we need to find a way of bringing together people who will be travelling to Argentina on vacation [and therefore don't care about the long term devaluation of the currency] to bring bitcoin into the country and exchange them for pesos with a local who doesn't want to get stuck holding the bag when their currency collapses.

Win-Win, right?
