But you're just trolling, no?

Nope, I believe that bitcoin will render both $ and € obsolete. Also Ripple a shit

The problems you indicated are no biggie.  Wink

I get it, the problem is this hardfork creates a slew of its own problems, not the least of which is getting people to accept said hardfork.  Kindly follow the link above I was kind enough to provide for your edification.

Would you expand on that?

Everyone seems to know why the price is coming down.

Transaction times eh? You see a lot of complaints by the users do you?

As a an actual bitcoin user, I don't see it.

This forum is to speculate about the price.

I'm speculating that "big players" might look at this limitation that won't allow for btc to become a disruptive technology, and say, why would I invest in this? It has no way to grow that much because of its very nature (7 tps limit)

thus, no signifiicant price increase.

wow. I'm trying to understand, but it's complicated.

There have only ever been two hard forks of the blockchain in the history of Bitcoin, and both nearly killed Bitcoin

But 7 tps is not an option, as far as I can see. something ought to be done about it, right? Otherwise btc will remain as internet funny money

If it aspires to be a real currency, this won't do... maybe that's one of the reasons why the price is going down

do you think that this TPS problem will be solved? what would be the consequences of trying to increase the TPS?

Can you seriously imagine bitcoin not succeeding?

That's impossible, considering how much it is needed. It's time to get back at the big banks.

Listen to Max Kaiser, he knows what's up

Who cares how many $ one bitcoin is worth?

Who cares about that? Seems like you're going by the dollar standard. It's filthy fiat, forget about that. In the near future, bitcoin will take over and $ will be a thing of the past.

The price in $ is completely irrelevant.

all your short profits locked up in fake fiat in an insolvent fake exchange? boo-hoo ... naked shorted and crashed the asset underwriting the exchange holding your fake profits ... what idiots, you are better off at vegas.
(...)

This is rich. A bitcoin bulltard saying that shorting profits are "fake", and that shorters are gambling, but bulltards are not.

If anything, bulls are the ones gambling, even more than the shorters if that's possible. From a value-oriented investing perspective (best represented by Warren Buffett), the value of one bitcoin is zero. Who is being more rational here, the bull or the bear?

Suspicious address: https://blockchain.info/address/1L2JsXHPMYuAa9ugvHGLwkdstCPUDemNCf

Transactions started to appear in the suspicious address after 1am european time on 04.01.15. The first transactions had fees of 0.55 and 1 btc, respectively. These continue thought the day with fees of around 0.1btc. First complaints of deposit issues started during the day. Stamp sent out an email the NEXT day, shortly thereafter suspending its site.

As can be seen here (http://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/6e20c5b8ebb819c7?from_address=1L2JsXHPMYuAa9ugvHGLwkdstCPUDemNCf), the transactions coming into the 1L2JsX address are from bitstamp addresses (note that this page is not real time, so not all new transactions are displayed).

The cold storage address mentioned above was not touched since mid december. The first new transactions in this address appear at around 10pm european time on 04.01.15. This appears to be a sweep of hot wallet addresses and brings in about 10k btc. Notice the specific structure this sweep transaction has (example: https://blockchain.info/tx/c84a1b8e7aaeae81cf3a1db7e37fdd6befbedafb4213338f412c6981b9469553) - a round amount is swept to the cold storage, an arbitrary amount is put in another address where it is combined with other inputs and swept again. This pattern is not observed in the 1L2JsX address. Furthermore, fees in the cold storage address vary from 0.0001 to 0.001, depending on size - again, unlike the 1L2JsX address.

IF the 1L2JsX address indeed belongs to a hacker, bitstamp COULD be missing 18,865btc, with the remaining 134,872btc in its cold storage wallet. It appears that only these two addresses have been used for sweeping. This would imply a loss of 12% of all held bitcoins.

One of the bitstamp founders (https://twitter.com/nejc_kodric) tweeted: "To restate: the bulk of our bitcoin are in cold storage, and remain completely safe." Interpret that as you will.

I know what you're saying. People need to really think outside of the box. Don't listen to the media. What does your gut tell you about Bitcoin?..I have become successful in many areas of my life through spiritual guidance and mediation. It's not a bloodbath. The price is being pushed down on purpose by a someone or a group of people. They are making It more affordable for everyday people to hop on board. With the Russian ruble collapse and the world on the brink of another war. There is no better time for Bitcoin. Bitcoin is here for a reason. There are much larger forces at work here. We are all apart of the forum because we were guided here by our destiny. For some reason we are more aware of things than everyday people. So in turn I believe we will be very wealthy in the coming years. There are only a handfull of people who will get rich off of Bitcoin. But that wealth will help re stimulate growth into a stale united states economy and help propell us into a new Era much like the Internet did. Most people won't buy into bitcoin until it's too late to get rich. Because they are still stuck in the Matrix to some extent. Stay calm my friends and meditate.

Holy shit.

Serious question:

What's the "fair price" of one bitcoin? and how do you arrive to that conclusion?

Bitcoin will never die. You see, there's a lot libertarians and cryptoanarchists like myself that will NEVER give up on Bitcoin as long as it's functional. And we're a growing number of people. Even if all "normal" people were to be brainwashed enough to stay away from Bitcoin forever. If we're not already, we will be many enough to create our own little economy. Without theft and looting from any "government". A little bit like John Galt's society in Atlas Shrugged, only we won't have to physically hide, just use cryptography. As the bitcoin economy matures, us folks inside will have an unfair advantage towards the cattle still stuck in the Matrix. And yea, by that time price with be a LOT higher than 300 USD even without the help of the sheeple.

John Galt wasn't an anarchist though, he thought that government is very important and good... the author of that book hated libertarians/anarchists, and called them "an aberration, the scum of the intellectuals"

(...) Just face it, this is a bad day.

No, that's not true. It's a great day.

Bitcoin is going to be a huge global success. Therefore, temporary lower prices are a good thing, because they give you the opportunity to buy more.
