Re: Younger Generation and Revolut
by

The beauty of Revolut is that you can use it as a bank account but buy and sell bitcoin etc in a very simple easy way.
I believe this is the future.
Revolut is easy to use and the fact that your account is not just for buying and selling coins is a big plus.
Even simpler platforms like Coinbase, don't feel as easily accessible as Revolut.

Simple Question - Your investing Strategy
by
EddyRobins
on 07/03/2021, 17:13:43 UTC
Doesn't need long complicated answers - just a simple question:

Do you invest
1. mainly on price/the market trends
2. mainly on the underlying usefulnesss of the token
3. pretty even split of the two.

Re: Is Elon Musk looking to buy more Bitcoin ?

I think he is in an unparalleled position to manipulate markets with his tweets. I don't think there is anyone in such a powerful position in this environment.
I think he is more influential than Zuckerberg, Bezos, Gates.

Re: Motley Fool adds Bitcoin to model portfolio *and* buys some too

I feel this is very interesting. I've known the Motley Fool website for donkeys years now although i only occasionally visit it.
In general it is moderately conservative so , any advice or recommendations always comes with massive caveats.
The fact that they are openly publishing about buying bitcoin is major. Not about the quantity but the way it helps to legitimise bitcoin in the eyes of many conservative investors.

Re: What to do with nonsignificant altcoins

I would trade them for the altcoins that are the darling of the moment - things like Compound. We are in a massive pump for DeFi and there is serious profits to earn from it.
If that's too risky i would trade for Ether rather than Bitcoin. Ether is up around 60% for the month while bitcoin is up about 17%

It may be hard to remember but I think the first question to ask is who has had access to your pc? Did you get it repaired at all? Did you let a friend use it?

Re: Trading Or Invest ?
by

I think it's got to be a bit of both. particularly in todays market.
I decided to cash in some of my slower moving bitcoin investment and use it to trade some altcoins, especially defi.
Now is a good time to dip in and out on some coins in my opinion.

Re: Own only a small amount of bitcoin? Regardless, DON'T LOSE THEM.

Bitcoin first cam to my attention around 2013-2014 through an SEO forum I belonged to.
There were posts on there offering people 1BTC for writing articles for their website. Looking back that seems cazy. People so underestiated what would happen to the price of bitcoin. I have no doubt their are millions of coins that have been lost over the years.

Re: Should you take loan(s) to invest in crypto?
by
EddyRobins

I agree that its a bad decision but I can see the attractiveness with the market as it has been for the last year.

Also interest rates are at an extremely attractive low rate (at least they are in the UK).

So lets say you borrowed around £7000  6 months ago and bought 1BTC.
That BTC is now worth around £26000 -
Sell now and pay off the loan and interest (around £250) and you've still made nearly £19000 profit.

For some people they will look at that and say getting a loan is worth the risk. The mistake of course is over-optimism that the price will keep going up in the next 6 months in the way it has for the last 6 months.

Re: ETH’s “top” this market cycle?
by
EddyRobins

I think Ethereum will keep rising, slightly faster than Bitcoin.
My reasons are that, like the majority of alt coins, the recovery from 2017 has been slower than bitcoin. For me this means there is still a lot of upside to go. Secondly, Ethereum is a solid player in the whole crypto industry and is used by many other tokens. Thus there is a genuine demand for its service and therefore genuine value.

Re: ethereum performance, what do you think?
by
EddyRobins
on 16/01/2021, 17:16:38 UTC
It seems to me that Ethereum has a brighter future than the likes of litecoin etc. Quite simply I think there is a lot of upside still to be had in terms of other coins and new coins still to come that use Ether.
If there should be a realisitic new alternative to Ether (more effective or cheaper) thats when i could see the price performance start to flag.
For now though I think we are on the up side.

Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots?
by
EddyRobins
on 16/01/2021, 16:28:23 UTC
People say "don't buy at the peak". That's wise advice in hindsight. The problem is when you're at the peak you don't know that you are there. Is this the peak or is it a "false summit". looking back i thought $20k was the peak. it clearly wasnt. So my view is yes its fine to invest at this price (as long as you can afford to lose a significant chunk if it goes pear shaped)

Re: Cryptocurrencies Touch Down in Wall Street in 2021
by
EddyRobins

It's interesting to see where this is all taking us. At the moment bitcoin is getting much more interest from "trusted" investors. They are all looking for a piece of the action. The fact vthat bitcoin is back to such high prices again makes it look much more viable long term ie - if there's a another crash the price is likely to come back again.

Re: What do you think is the biggest disadvantage of bitcoin?
by

I would say volatility. It will not achieve status as a trusted currency until somehow volatility is removed.
Otherwise holding bitcoin is always a risk.

Re: Why make New Crypto Exchanges
by

Because there is still money to be made by exchanges. The market place is pretty full and some will go to the wall but there is always space for someone to do something inovative that becomes effective.

Airdrops are always welcome but the likelihood that they will make most of us any substantial money is small.
