Re: Digitalcoin Dev ROBBED!

Just spent 45 minutes reading 16 pages of this. I find threads where bcx is involved that are long to be quite entertaining at times. While there is some definite trolling in both directions bcx does bring some valid questions to the table. I'm not going to rehash them as a few others have already but his points are valid given the lack of communication from the party making the claim of stolen coins.

Then he needs to post something, since he's this great master hacker detective.   If not, then shut the fuck up.  Seems to be onesided troll speculation to me.

You apparently like bcx are biased in your beliefs. I am not as I have no Digitalcoin, ever mined it or have any dealings with the developer of the coin in any way. However after reading all of this nothing that bcx suggest is implausible and it does fit the circumstances. Has he submitted any proof, no but barutus the exchange owner has done nothing to refute any of it either. The strongest point made by quite a few in addition to bcx is that there is no good reason to not make the wallet adress known. I am not here to argue as I am just calling it like I see it. I will follow this post as this will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

This man speaks words of wisdom.

Because thread is actually about:

Dev gets hacked with custom keylogger on his windows box.
Handwaves, no public address to verify 500k gone.
Exchange gets hacked but only 9 accounts, no way to verify.
Says bug somewhere in php libs.
No wait, gmail insecure.
No wait, others dumb enough to use windows, must be trojan against (only) those 9.
No wait, it's all the baddies attacking my php.
No wait, I said in irc there are NO bugs in my code.
Oh wait, if I can't find bug I'll give up and large holders can have code.

Maybe not issue for you...

Dev getting hacked is a personal issue and has nothing to do with the exchange.

Exchange did not get hacked... it was an ATTEMPT to hack. My account was one of the compromised ones and I lost NO COINS.

It was shut down as a precautionary measure. NO coins were lost.

NO COINS LOST for compromised accounts = NOT A SUCCESSFUL HACK = NON ISSUE.

It doesn't matter what was or was not given up as far as information goes. At the end of the day, no customer coins were lost... so who the fuck cares?

Personnal issue my ass! Why do a PUBLIC THREAD THEN?

Non issue my ass! Why did it warrant an EXCHANGE CLOSURE THEN?

Moral of the story. Berry claims he was robbed.. meaning the wallet was stolen and wiped out and dumped. Meaning the wallet is useless at this point but will not provide an address as a "pride" issue as best described to me in DGC IRC. Now if in fact wallet were stolen, and wiped out, why would you not post it so all holders of DGC can see it on the chain?

Fact is me and BCX have had it out several times here before. Simply check my post history, I called him a cocksucker several times. But yet he raises the most valid of points. If said wallet was stolen, why not publish it? I would, had I made a crucial mistake like this, and at least folks would know they buying my stolen coins.

Then again BCX also shows that 500k DGC sold for almost 30k in a day. Sorry 30k USD in a day ain't no chump change.

Baritus, simply post the address please as an investor. Shit ain't adding up.

Maybe you missed this when I posted it a few days ago :

This is the block which I believe contains all the stolen coin transactions from March 8th

http://dgc.blockr.io/block/info/758830

As you will all know very well the block shows every address where coins come from and where they go to.

How can you be sure? Everyone can infer that, we need confirmation by Baritus. Also, it does not add up to 560k.

I don't have to prove anything, Baritus is the one that has made the blatantly bogus claims.

~BCX~

actualy when determining guilt in a court of law the burden of proof is on the accuser.

but if you want me to explain it so you can understand it (having an extremely small troll brain)

"HUR DUR YOU DO HAVE TO PROVIDE PROOF"

It depends on the legislation.

Anyhow, you could argue that Baritus is the accuser here. He's the one making the claim.

Why are you all avoiding the question of the public address and picking at other non-relevant points?

There is absolutely no reason to not post it.

He has given a perfectly logical explanation which makes alot more sense than the fairy tales some ppl seem to enjoy telling here.

Actually it doesn't.

Self proclaimed crypto guru god elite can't secure his own wallet makes no sense at all.

Makes you wonder what things he may "inadvertently" over looked at Crypto Ave.

The only thing that makes sense is there is no legit reason he won't post the public address if this were a true story.

There is no motive. Any other month in 2013 would have made more sense. He would be insanely crazy to dump coins at such a low price when it was 30k satoshis only a few weeks earlier.

Exactly. Why would any sane person dump like that at current prices unless they stole the coins and didn't care about holding them. Baritus could have sold out ages ago especially when dgc hit 0.0009 BTC a few months ago and many times over if he wanted to anyway. Why would he even bother spending so much time on CryptoAve to then cut and run by dumping a whole heap of dgc now? Its just ridiculous speculation on the part of some. He has given a perfectly logical explanation which makes alot more sense than the fairy tales some ppl seem to enjoy telling here.
Omg, use your imagination. Not saying that any of this is true but these are all possible scenarios:
1. Market manipulation. Dump a large amount of coins, cause a crash and buy them back cheaper
2. He has personal troubles and desperately needs money
3. He lost interest in DGC, sick of waiting for DGC's rise
4. There is a new coin coming
...

5. He did not dump and is just trying to justify the crash.
6. Decided there was no hope for digitalcoin in the sea of altcoins.

I will keep on calling BS on that theft until Baritus provides the damn public address of the stolen wallets. Why. Would. You. Hide. That. Info. if you had nothing to hide? I think he's definitely dumping his own coins.

The reason he wont provide the public address is obvious.

The theft never happened.

Can anyone think of any other reason Baritus would not provide the public address?

~BCX~

trololololooser

Just provide a legit reason he won't provide the public address of the 500,000 DGC supposedly stolen and I might agree with you.

The reason is, if he provides the address we will all see a trail of him dumping his own coins.

That's why.

~BCX~

Man you just don't know when to shut your piehole. Give up your pathetic trolling attempts and go back to your useless existence peddling your misery somewhere else. Baritus himself has told you what happened yet you still continue to act like the ignorant, arrogant douchebag that everyone knows you as.

Do you not have a shred of dignity at all? It must be fun being an A grade loser that most people despise. "Oh look I'm the great self proclaimed forkmaster ~BCX~ "who can fork you coin at will!. Well whoopitdeedoo give the man a nobel prize what a credit to society he is! Using his genius talent to further the good of humanity there! Everybody give him a clap for his wonderful contribution.

Hey BCX do us all a favour and crawl back under that rock from where you came noone is going to miss you anyway. Muppet.

Why are you insulting him?
This is a legit concern. Why is Baritus not disclosing the public address?
This one of the best thing with a public blockchain: all assets are fully transparent to the public. Why can't Baritus provide an address that match the story? Considering his reaction, I believe it is because he can't.
He has the burden of the proof. You can't just go around claiming that such a huge sum got stolen from you, and expect people to believe you without any evidence. Why are you so compelled to act as his guard dog?

We're not asking for much. This is the crypto-currency far west after all. Haven't you learned that nobody can be trusted?

Of course it's going to be a thread of bagholders. As they say: put your money where your mouth is.

Now, my personal list would be split in 2 categories:

Great mechanisms

  • Peercoin (PPC) : This coin is undervalued. It combines the great idea that is PoS/PoW hybrid network security with a strong and large following. We should see it rise steadily in the long run.
  • Vertcoin (VTC): Pure anti-ASIC coins are not a good thing IMO. Sure, ASIC lead to increased centralization of the hashing power, but it also means more efficient mining = less energy waste. I think that VTC's slowly scheduled scrypt difficulty increase strikes a good balance between both. You don't need to run gigantic power intensive CPU farms to mine efficiently, but you don't need to buy expensive ASIC either. Similar to YaCoin but the community its stronger => more value.
  • Darkcoin (DRK): Truly anonymous cryptos are going to thrive, no question here. It's the internet after all.
  • Gridcoin (GRC): Who doesn't want to help science. Probably one of the most 'justifiable' coins out there, since your hash-power doesn't go to 'waste'.

Other good stuff going on for them

  • Digitalcoin (DGC) : It's yet another scrypt clone, sure, but it's one of the earliest. For some reasons it seems to be as legit as LTCs in the collective mind. Good, small and strong community of active developers (cryptoave exchange, free bank of dgc, dgc foundation). There is good potential for growth if it doesn't get drowned in the massive sea of alts.
  • Maxcoin (MAX): Sure the launch was a flop and it went downhill from there... but it's still seen as THE sha3 coin. And since sha3 is the successor of sha2, it could eventually be seen as btc 2.0. Not too sure about it though Wink.

Finally Auroracoin is probably not undervalued at the moment, but I bought some anyway. Hell it has a freaking country backing it.

Yep, you guys need to calm down. There won't be any reward untill everybody is happily hashing, because coin generation is going to be insanely hard untill then.

+ if you are stalking launches, you should learn to compile a wallet for yourself instead of being entitled whiners. You were given 3 days to check that everything is working fine.

Great job so far gatra!

Can you explain in some lenght how will I be able to mine solo from the start? (In command line, preferably?)
I never mined solo.. the help command from cpuminer seems to indicate that this program  is solely designed for pooled mining. Will the complete source generate a minerd variation that can be used to me through RPC?

Sorry about all these questions but where can is there a complete hashrate list somewhere? More precisely, will http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121660 really give me ~3 KHs? seems like an overkill considering that /index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison]http://[Suspicious link removed]/index.php/Mining_Hardware_Comparison seems to predict 1 KHs for a HD7950.

Hold on? Are NVidia cards becoming viable on price/performance vs ATI?  Shocked

Can one install Nvidia and ATI on the same Windows rig? Anyone experimented NVidia cards on PCI-e risers?

price/performance... not so much for scrypt mining. GTX 780 (Ti) cards are f...in' expensive

but very much for scrypt-jane coins with high N-factor. Here a mid range card (660Ti) can beat the AMD high end offerings.

I will experiment with PCI-e risers soon. I've ordered a 1x->1x riser, a 4x->4x riser, and a 1x->16x riser (unpowered) to play with. With a bit of Dremel magic, the card will fit into the 1x and 4x slots on the risers Wink

Christian

Example of high N-factor scrypt coins? And what hashrate are we talking about (with 660 Ti?) for these coins.
