3. After the BIS tx has been mined

which time for this ?

Around 1 minute.
The mint link will show up once the tx went through and the mint has been signed by the bridge.

For anyone willing to do their own research:

There is a whitepaper https://bismuth.cz/whitepaper.pdf with a primer on Hypernodes - Far from Dash Masternodes.
I'd like to see precisely what is supposed to be "copied" from them.

Native Tokens are a core feature of Bismuth and not a clone of ETH tokens. Bismuth execution model is also very, very different from Eth.
The "Hack with Bis" repository https://github.com/bismuthfoundation/Hack-with-BIS gives more insight on that subject.

Like explained in the release post - for those actually reading our announces - HYFI is a native token on Bis chain, rewarding owners of Hypernodes - in addition of the main BIS reward. It has nothing to do with scammy DeFi tokens on ETH chain. It's the basis of a fidelity program.

Nice episode indeed EggdraSyl!
One thing is unclear to me: the dApps are running on Bismuth main POW chain or on POS (hypernodes) secondary chain. Now I am a bit confused.
Another thing would be if you could explain how you guys managed to avoid network TX spam and keep free the TX. Is a first on a conventional POW coin.

Thanks,

And sorry for the late answer - I only see your message now, I'm not there a lot.

dApps can use either the PoW or PoS chain, it's an app design choice.
As of today, free tx are on PoS side only.

I think the next episode - released since - did answer the spam question

Practical examples will hopefully make all that more clear.

Hello @Eggdrasyl, I saw this tweet https://twitter.com/EggPoolNet/status/1228586896185536512?s=20 on your channels and I wander what is all about.
Can you please share more details with us? I've read only "not proof of concept, nor wip or fuzzy plan" but what is all about?

Not sure what part you're refering to precisely.

If this is about the feeless transactions, the series will go on with more insight and explanations.

I wanted to say what are you talking about with not proof of concept, about your series or something specific about Bismuth.
Waiting for more insight details about your series.

Likely a misunderstanding.
That was not "proof of concept" like "proof of work" "proof of anything fancy so I can pump"

Just saying that what I announced - free transactions for dApps - is something that works already, and not just a proof of concept.

Sorry for a beginner question.....is this a traditional staking coin in as far as if you keep some in your wallet you get stakes?

It's not purely PoS.

There is a PoW - mining - part, as well as a part of rewards from Hypernodes.

Hypernodes are not just staking, they provide service to the network.
So you have to run a Hypernode with some collateral (10k, 20k or 30k) to get weekly rewards.

Having BIS in your wallet is nice, but does not produce rewards on its own.

Any chance of a CPU miner being released?

CPU mining is not an obstacle but is not profitable at all.
BIS is a GPU coin, with specific algo to heavily penalize FPGAs and asics from common algorithms.

There are discussions about potential use of mining channels to have both GPU and CPU mining going on, but nothing practical as for now.

I personally believe that GPU is still the better path to hash power decentralization.

i highly doubt that only GPUs are mining this, if an algo can be reasonably mined by shitty old GPUs then FPGAs can do it profitably. maybe a 8gb minimum ram requirement for GPU's can be a good start, ETH crossed the 3gb minimum, BIS is currently at what?

BTW that "unnamed exchange" has an interface that looks like cryptopia LOL  Grin

Before our heavy3 algo, we had an FPGA mining op taking most of the rewards for a while.
The heavy3 algo was tailored to address that, and so far I have no hint that bis is mined by FPGA.
It's not only a question of total ram, but also of random reads and ram bandwidth.
GPU has better ram bandwidth than what fpga can do. And mining bis would require high end fpgas anyway, with ram. Becomes more common, but still.
With heavy3, simulations show that high end fpga can mine bis, but with no real leverage over GPUs, because of ram bandwidth..

If you have some insight info, or hints that bis is mined by fpga, please tell me more. If we have doubts, that will be addressed.
Btw, we are not against fpgas by principle. We are against hash power centralization, and one mining op, or one small class of miner taking all.

Glad to see pow mining staying with reduced rewards although I will probably never end up with a hypernode at this point. Has anyone upgraded a legacy wallet to the latest hardfork wallet and if so did you encounter any issues?

Wallets themselves do not even need an upgrade.

If you run a local node (not mandatory) then you need to upgrade.

i mine on eggpool with stable 4.5 Gh hashrate
payments began to have wide variation - from 7 to 19 per payment last 2 weeks
previously it was in the area 14-16 per payment
why so ?

I rarely check here, way more active on discord.
Could have a look with your miner address.
Can be the day/night oscillation: see the difficulty graph, atm it's spread over 106

https://hypernodes.bismuth.live/plots/mainnet/diff.php

and that gives very different blocks count for first 12h and latest 12h.
See on eggpool home, it's also visible - both for egg blocks found, and network blocks found (not a pool issue)

This behaviour depends on the net hash and adjustment algo.
If hashrate is stable, diff converges. There, it keeps oscillating.
Miners mining only at low diff do feed that behaviour.

Help #Bismuth, help yourself:

If this tweet: https://twitter.com/EggPoolNet/status/1168464920054292487
gets 100 RTs by tomorrow (13H UTC) then the team will make 150 $BIS or more rain on the discord.

More than 100 RTs? More BIS!

It's a no (B)rainer, go and RT to the world!

Spread the word and get wet!

tell me please

on eggpool the graph on index page says that pool found
from 8

to 36

blocks per last 24 hours

but on lastfound page here only 23 blocks per 1st September at this moment

why so ?

Oh,

The pool is is fact 3 pools, to ensure more resilience and mine on the most recent block quicker.

The "lastfound" page queries the official API and prints the latest 10 blocks from each of the 3 current eggpools.
Some pools are very little used because not often ahead (mainly because of geolocalisation), why you can have old blocks on this screen.

So, it's pretty different from "30 last blocks from all eggpools". I understand the confusion. Tweaked the title to make it more visible.

bismuth team, algo too hot, maybe another ?
it's not hard for you
There are no hot or cold algos - its a myth.
When algo is "cold" means only that miner is not using available resources.

really ? seems to i am novice in mining, ha
i know about GPU utilization and it is always at 99-100% on different algos

If you use nvidias (more power efficient than AMDs) and you target efficiency (hash/watt) rather than raw hash, then you can run cool.
drop PL to the minimum you can, underclock memory by like 1000, and overclock core.
You'll run cooler and eat less power.

eggpool miner shows an efficiency metric you can optimize.

What if im on an older version but still running? any need to upgrade?

If your HN is fine and up to the latest block, no need to update.
The update only address workaround for this specific issue where you can get stuck.
If you're past the block, you're fine.
