@Claymore

I'm sticking with v9.5 for now. My hashrate dropped .5 MH/s on v9.6 with a MSI 1060 6gb (samsung).

I bought a MSI 1060 6gb recently as well, it's my first nvidia card in over 15 years. Looks like I got lucky, it has Samsung mems, out of the box it did almost 19mh/s, with OC i can stretch it to over 23mh/s though for temps and longevity I'm keeping it around21.5/22 mh/s.

My biggest doubt ATM is what I should mine with it, dualmining ETH + SIA seems reasonable but is there anything more profitable?

What are you guys mining?

I just got a couple of MSI Armor rx480 4GB cards (https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-480-ARMOR-4G-OC.html)
I've been staring at the exact same card for the past week not knowing whether i should go for it or get a slightly more expensive Sapphire Pulse Rx 580 4gb..

Do you guys think a 580 Pulse is worth some extra 20 bucks?

Is there any problem in using only 4gb of system ram to mine? I have an old pc with 4gb DDR2 800, was thinking about throwing a 480 4gb in there and giving it a go..what do you guys think?

Isn't there any way to test the memory straps without/before flashing them in?
No, you have to mod the timings and test them after you flash the Bios back to the card. That's why you should research what works best for your card before you mod the Bios.
But lets say I flash in some timings the card doesn't like. Will it brick or does it still give me the chance to re-flash it?

Copying the memory straps should not brick the card. Worse is the card crashes or won't run. It's better and safer to mod your own Bios. At least you know it came from the right card.

I understand and I agree completely. Thanks for the feedback

asus expedition.  Elpida (1850mhz max).

eth only=  1090/1850mhz @ 831mv   = 91w (wall)

Dual mining = 1130/1850mhz @ 831mv =  118w (wall)
I heard the Asus Dual cards have really bad cooling, but what about the Expedition? The cooler seems to be the same.

Currently I have a choice between one of these three cards:

Asus RX570 Expedition 4Gb
Asus RX 480 DUAL OC 4Gb
Msi RX 480 ARMOR OC 4Gb

Which one should I get? The purpose is not only mining but also some gaming on the side. Also, which of them do you think will have a greater resale value in 6mo/1yr, a 480 or a 570?

Re: Mining + Personal PC setup?

I'm sort of in the same boat as you fellas, though on a smaller scale. I'm about to buy a new rig for the first time in a decade (hooray), nothing big just a single card setup, though I'd like to use it to try and get back some of the money I'm about to spend.

I can get my hands on one of these models despite the shortage:
Asus RX570 Expedition 4Gb
Asus RX 480 DUAL OC 4Gb
Msi RX 480 ARMOR OC 4Gb

But I'm still not sure about which I should get, admittedly I'm more inclined to the MSI 480 because it seems to be better cooled and, well, since I'll be using it for gaming as well a 480 is still a 480. But I'm afraid of lucking out on the memory lottery, couldn't find any consistent feedback regarding what memory brand those cards use, so any advice would be very much appreciated,

..also I'm afraid of bricking the card while the BIOS..none of those are dual BIOS so there is no backup in case things go wrong. Isn't there any way to test the memory straps without/before flashing them in?

Is there even any benefit in buying a 8gb card over a 4gb? Technically they use the same memory chips, just double the amount.

How do you guys know which memory brand a certain card has? Is it just luck or can we actually buy a card with the specific memory we want?

I'm an old time altcoin hobbyist, about to buy myself a new pc and I was thinking about getting a Sapphire 570 pulse 4gb because it's a reasonable gaming/mining card and I can get one for under 200€ but I'm afraid to get crap memories. Should I opt for a different model instead or are pulses (and their memories) decent for mining?

Thanks

Been using P2pools since I started. People just tend to stick with normal pools because the frontend makes them feel like it's something more reliable.

But it's not.

still have about 300k doges left myself, but I have to agree to Op Sad the hype train is gone.

Well it is literally in your hands to get it going again. Spread the wealth, make faucets, bounties, giveaways and stuff! Sitting on your coins is only good if they're gaining value! This is the problem with most people early mining coins, everyone expects everyone else to promote the coin so no one does anything..

With that amount of DOGE on you, it becomes your responsability to help dogecoin succeed!

Cryptsy should just disappear. And MtGox too btw. They're horrible, but they have just so. much. money. going through that it's keeping better exchanges of similar size from appearing. If they were to disappear, people would flock to other exchanges and I'm sure they'd have better quality, as they wouldn't want to repeat the same mistakes that led to those two's demise.

You're the one being arrogant, speaking like your opinion is holier-than-thou. Just because some people made profit off of it, doesn't change the fact that the concept of fully premined coins is kinda scammy

Now, whether or not to scam was the true intent of this coin's devs, or if being fully premined was a choice they made as the lesser of two evils, only time will tell.

Either way, best of luck for y'all who hopped on this bandwagon, but I'd rather stay put this time.
