http://auroracoin.org

0.07% has been claimed.

Seeing as it's been almost nothing but downtime (until now) and that it's 3:28 am over here, then it's not so bad Cheesy

Really interesting speach from the CEO of CCP (The company behind EVE Online) about the Icelandic krona and what (bad) effects it's had on the company. The speach is in Icelandic but at 25:10 he says this:

Icelandic:
Quote
Ég hélt að planið væri að ganga í Evrópusambandið og taka upp evru, það er eitthvað bakslag í því og nú á annaðhvort að taka upp danska krónu, kanadískan dollara eða Bitcoin? Ekki ætlum við að nota krónu? Er það? Er það planið?“

English:
Quote
I though the plan was to join the European Union and start using the Euro coin, now there is a backslash in that plan and now were supposed start using the danish krona, Canadian dollar or Bitcoin? We arent going to use the Icelandic króna? Are we? Is that the plan?

This is strange as the CCP pays its employees in Euro

I know, hes talking about Iceland. What will Iceland use in the future as he has no belief in the Icelandic krona. He also mentions in the video that the EVE Online currency is named ISK. They named it that in memory of the Icelandic krona (ISK) as they never expected Iceland to hold on to it for this long.

I like how this thread is pretty chill and civilized, people are actually supporting the cause.

I've also been following the Mazacoin thread and people there are always talking about making huge profits and pumping it up (or wishing for whales to do so), too many people there don't seem to care at all about why the coin was made, only to make a profit.

*sigh*

Chill your tits men(and women).

I wasn't saying that NOBODY has access to the internet.. I'm fully aware they have a website and all that. I'm talking about the ones who are in a really bad position over there, just like in many other countries.

I'm just asking if there has been any talk about this. I guess paper wallets could work, but I haven't looked much into how they function.

I've been wondering.

This coin is supposedly for a "poor" county, a large portion of the people there don't have much money and are pretty much broke.

Quote
Dollars can be hard to come by for members of the Oglala Lakota Nation.

The tribe’s Pine Ridge reservation encompasses all of Shannon County, South Dakota, the second-poorest county in the country, where residents earn an average yearly salary of less than $8,000.
**

Then there is this internet currency. This internet currency requires internet, and a computer/smartphone. Do these people have access to that?

Meanwhile with Iceland (and the Auroracoin), well over 90% of the people have access to the internet and above 80% of the nation is on Facebook.

I'm not trying to bash this coin, it's just a thought that popped into my mind.

I'd like to quote the Blueprint page;
http://auroracoin.org/blueprint.php

Quote
If more than 6% of the total Airdrop supply (10,500,000) remain in the premine addresses after Stage 3, any coins exceeding the 6% mark will be verifiably destroyed.

50% of the remaining coins will go towards a development fund and/or towards an Auroracoin foundation formed by the community. The other 50% will go towards a charity or charities, to be determined democratically by the Auroracoin community.

The right is reserved to repeat the Airdrop reset stages as many times as necessary to get the coins into circulation, as well as any other measure intended for the same purpose.

Has the difficulty gone haywire or blocktimes, something is kinda strange with this coin...

Diff is definitely going to spike, being number 4 on Coinmarketcap and going up... this is drawing a LOT of attention (mining wise and every other damn way).

I transferred some AUR a few hours ago and had no problem with confirmations.

EDIT: It just went over 0.02 BTC per AUR on both markets!
EDIT2: Holyshitballs, 0.026 BTC..

If you people would read the first post.

Once the Auroracoin site is back up, after all this sudden interest (coinmarketcap sure isn't helping), you can check out http://auroracoin.org/blueprint.php
It describes the airdrop process.

EDIT: And please.. the Dev or Devs could never simply sell 10.500.000 coins. Don't be so idiotic.
