to fix the problem i was getting with the linux miner i had to recompile from the source code.. not saying it's the same error or solution, just informing that that's what i had to do to get it working on linux..

I generated the paper wallet and followed the instructions to run cli to import but i still see 0 balance.

Finding this download miner a bit complex, i have synced and created a wallet but it wont load just says.....Error: wallet failed to connect to daemon: http://localhost:26968. Daemon either is not started or wrong port was passed. Please make sure daemon is running or restart the wallet with the correct daemon address..............would appreciate if any of you smarter dudes can help, thanks.....
You need to run the daemon in another terminal window.. so you need to open another terminal/cmd/commandline/whatever and then navigate to the folder where your direct miner and cli is. then type the following:Code:

you can mine with a new address that is created by the cli but why not just keep using the paper wallet address? it's the same address if you used the paper wallet to generate the Wallet file using the method described.
Our precious ETN is only at 14 cents, thats only %1400 increase which is unheard of. Yes thats a big dump. Wake up people, you will be rewarded if you dont sell now. Wait for it to hit an easy $1

To answer your question without quotes.
To solve your problem, use
./electroneum-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys WALLET
instead.. it just means the cli isn't installed to your usr/bin folder.. forgot about that..
You also might need to be root.. i can't remember if it is necessary but i just used sudo anyway.. so:
sudo ./electroneum-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys WALLET
not sure what the equivalent of sudo is on mac

Okay so you're running the "electroneum-wallet-cli" from the commandline right? terminal? so instead of just using it on it's own like that you need to run it with the flags:

where WALLET is the name of the new wallet file you want to generate from your paper wallet..
Also, everyone who wants to transfer to the exchange: only the miners can sell at the moment since all the ICO money is still stuck on the Electroneum website.
If you are a miner and you want to transfer to Cryptopia, download the "Direct Miner" for your OS from https://downloads.electroneum.com/ and then create a wallet file from the paper wallet you've been mining to using the method above.
Once you have a wallet file, close the cli.
Now you need to start the daemon by running the "electroneumd" file. This will sync the blockchain. Wait for it to complete and do NOT close it before you do the next step.
Next, relaunch the cli without the flags (in a new terminal window). Then enter the name of the wallet file you created.
Once you have done this it will sync with the daemon and your funds should show up.
Once your funds are all there, you should be able to use the "transfer" command of the cli.. type "help" to see the syntax

It's literally right there in the post... You need to run the cli (which you get from downloading the "Direct Miner") using the flags from the command line:

so if you want it step by step:
- Open Command Line / Terminal
- Navigate to the location of your "electroneum-wallet-cli" file
- Now type the following:

and hit enter - Then the cli will start and ask for your keys.

For anyone wanting to know their balance if their pool is on the fritz, just run the daemon.
https://downloads.electroneum.com/ - scroll down a bit to 'Direct Miners' which is what they're calling the daemon and cli executables.
Download according to your OS and decompress. The linux one didn't work for me, so I compiled it myself, it doesn't have many dependencies, I already had all the non-optional ones anyway.
Destructions:
1. Fire up electroneumd and wait for it to sync
2. Fire up electroneum-wallet-cli like so to get it to give you details of your paper wallet:
"electroneum-wallet-cli --generate-from-keys WALLET" (On Win it's probably "electroneum-wallet-cli.exe...")
- without the quotes, where WALLET is the wallet name you want, can be anything
...when prompted enter your public address and private key and view key from your paper wallet
...set a password
...wait while it syncs that address
3. Bugger about with it
- type "help" at the prompt for available commands - "balance" and "show_transfers in" (without the quotes!) are what most of you are looking for4. Log back into that wallet if you've closed it with:
"electroneum-wallet-cli --walletfile=WALLET"
Note - as before, you need to have the daemon (electroneumd) running and synced again first
To add to the above, the wallet-cli also allows you to transfer..

Valid values in priority order (from lowest to highest) are: unimportant, normal, elevated, priority. Multiple payments can be made at once by adding etcetera (before the payment ID, if it's included)
so that's what you can use to transfer to the exchange..

Unfortunately, that's true miners are now running on profit the difficulty is not that high yet, if you have a good hashrate you can mine this and get a huge profit the team should fix the desktop and online wallet asap so we can start to transact, anyway we are only in the early stage more great news ahead.Thanks.. i hope it's soon.. my hashrate is pathetic.. 92h/s.. barely mining anything lol
