Re: Hitbtc.com locking in customer funds.

As I remember, their story with new re-verification started late in October. And there was a reddit discussion about their bankruptcy or whatever. And the exchange is still alive. And today there's another one which is muuuuuuch more alike to go gox))))

The main contradiction here is that, damn, that hitbtc is working on their platform. I did a small esearch last month... They added some features like brokerage reports, and are testing some new ones (contract trading, ++)... A goxing exchange would not act like this...

Another "pro" is the user complains who can't pass verification to START trading (https://forum.hitbtc.com/discussion/29/i-am-being-denied-verified-status-and-i-don-t-know-why#latest). Looks more like they experience some pressure from outside concerning AML policy... A potential bankrupt does his best to get as much money as possible and ASAP. That's what they are not doing.

p.s. I never had more than 200 euro on my account on any exchange. I don't know, what would I do if I had over 10 000 stuck somewhere. So, please don't follow my point of view blindly. I just think that it is all not as bad as you say.

Re: Is HitBTC the only major marketplace with adequate demo trading feature?

Hi all! I guess this sub is the most appropriate for my question…
I’m testing a robot and looking for a platform to monitor its performance on near real market data. AFAIK, HitBTC offers such a service at https://demo.hitbtc.com/terminal with replicating real market data to demo trading mode. One more thing I found ok about HitBTC is that nonmarket bids are blocked to avoid abnormal spread. Seems like convenient enough for my goals. And HitBTC’s API looks also adeq uaenough for using a robot.
Any alternatives? Fast googling did not help me find any alternative to HitBTC. There are several forex companies like turboforex or bit4x which I don’t trust that much and several links to HitBTC’s press release concerning their own announcement. Kraken, Bitstamp, BTC_E do not offer anything like this. IS there any other big exchange with demo trading possibilities, except HitBTC? Wanna be sure, that my robot can make right decisions after tune up.
Btw, advices like http://lmgtfy.com/?q=bitcoin+exchange+demo+trading are not welcome)

Right choice. HITBTC's demo is good. I never heard of any other service, but also would like to.

BTW, does anyone know what's the correct way to write their brand name? HITBTC, Hitbtc, or HitBTC? Or maybe even hitbtc, as stated on bitcoincharts??)

In addition, you have to be careful that you are not breaking and foreign exchange rules.

That's what you should care about first of all. 50 euro might be worth it

Hi there! I have some questions about hitbtc.com. I follow hitbtc trading platform development since summer. Imho, it’s one of the best trading sites for thse who prefer good technology and many traders here share this POV. During autumn there appeared some rumors concerning hitbtc's stability (when hitbtc initiated re-verification procedure for all users who trade fiats, which caused delays in deposit/withdraw process). Actually, this did not affect me personally, cause I’m doing only crypro/crypto there, but anyway…

After a month and a half of monitoring the situation I’ve noticed that hitbtc is developing the platform: they’ve modified faq (https://hitbtc.com/faq), added nice brockergare reports (https://hitbtc.com/trading-history). Its strage but they’ve done some UI improvements and posting some bullshit in their blog (https://blog.hitbtc.com/). Is this ok? Do you think that they gonna be fine? Should we trust them?

Although, hitbtc still have a lot to do with external communications and announce user-affecting actions beforehand (like bitstamp did a couple of months before verification became obligatory). Though I still have doubts, the the fcat that hitbtc is continually working on their trading platform looks really promising.

Finite supply currencies is what the US worked with up until 1971, so saying its doomed to fail is absurd.

The idea that the value of bitcoin will continue to rise over time is false, because that is not how markets work. The current price of bitcoin has future growth expectations built into it. Its price rises when people think its future growth is not represented by the current price. This means that the price will only continue to rise if the market consistently lowballs its future growth. And it has already been demonstrated that this is not the case.

This is an exciting BTC Wallet. Also, you can use android version. Android devices can backup private key to SD card automatically. For IOS devices, you'd better backup your private keys with QR code manually.

Re: Looks like central banks still running their scam in Vietnam

Most of the time, when we're buying non-commodity items, we're asking ourselves questions like:
-How much pain am I in right now?
-Do I deserve this?
-What will happen to the price in an hour or a week? If it changes, will I feel smart or dumb?
-What will my neighbors think?
-Does it feel fair?
- and, What sort of risks (positive and negative) are involved? (This is why eBay auctions don't work for the masses).

Pricing based on cost, then, makes no sense whatsoever. Cost isn't abstract, but value is.

As we ceased to trade, we moved all of our transactions to the abstract world of money. And the thing about an abstract trade is that it happens over time, not all at once. So I trade you this tuition money today in exchange for degree in four years which might get me a better job in nine years. Not only is there risk involved, but who knows what the value of anything nine years from now is?

Because of the abstraction and time shift, we're constantly re-evaluating what money is worth. Five dollars to buy a snack box on an airplane is worth something very different than five dollars to buy a cup of coffee after a fancy meal, which is worth something different than five dollars in the grocery store. That's because we get to pretend that the five dollars in each situation is worth a different amount--because it's been shifted.

News for Vietnam (and all other countries) ALL currencies are "virtual"

Seth Godin has an interesting take on that:
Money's pretty new. Before that, we traded. My corn for your milk. The trade enriches both of us, and it's simple.

Money, of course, makes a whole bunch of other transactions possible. Maybe I don't need your milk, but I can take your money and use it to buy something I do need, from someone else. Very efficient, but also very abstract.

KYC laws + public ledger = much much much better than gold for LEOs (edit: or cash, frankly).

Have you been paying attention to Dark Wallet, CoinJoin, various things like DarkCoin or even just the ability to trade BTC -> LTC -> BTC and vanish on the Blockchain?

Bitcoin might not be perfect, but it's more than enough to enable the step after very very easily.

These licences are total bullshit.

The purpose of Bitcoin is to free ourselves from this kind of tedious red tape and state involvement in personal finance.

Fuck the bureaucrats. This adds NOTHING to Bitcoin or its economy. Its just another source of drag that would seek to make Bitcoin no better than fiat currency after burying it in red tape.

That is their intention.
