"I am very sorry but unfortunately there appears to have been a flag raised on the payment and under the advice of our card company, I have cancelled the order."

Wow Sad please let us know about the outcome / if you got your money back.
I know that this may take a while.

The purchase was cancelled on July 4th, MyChoice card sent me the money on July 7th. When I access the MyChoice card app the money is there, when I access the Wirex app the money is not there. So I don't know if MyChoice is going to talk to wirex about this or wirex will not recognize the money. I have no ideia what will happen if I try to withdraw/spend the money.

I wrote a question about your situation on Wirex' thread and I've got an interesting answer.
The "refund" should happen automatically and if it didn't, you have to get all the info from the merchant and fill a ticket.
The original / better explanation is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1392468.msg20104562#msg20104562

Wow, thanks for that! I wasn't aware of a Wirex thread!
I sent them a request on the 10th of July and the replied me on 11th:
"Sorry for that, We have some temporary issues with unsynchronized card balance. Please recheck. Should be fixed. If not, please get back to me with screenshot."
I checked as soon as I saw the email and the money was there!  Grin
One pound was missing, but I think it was the card monthly fee because it was exactly 1 month since I activated it. So everything is fine now!  Smiley

Ok guys, on Monday I did the online purchase I was going for (since I have a higher limit). Tuesday morning I received an email saying that some problem with the payment arised and the store had to cancel my order:
"I am very sorry but unfortunately there appears to have been a flag raised on the payment and under the advice of our card company, I have cancelled the order."
I asked for details and what I got was this answer:
"Unfortunately, we are not told the exact reasons for the payment not being accepted and are advised to cancel the order."
I don't know why I had a flag, I don't know if they can see that wirex is behind, but banks in the UK do have a history of making things hardes for bitcoin users. On the other hand, I've bought other stuff with my previous wirex card (not that much expensive though).

Fortunately, the store crew is very helpful, so I'm arranging a another way to pay for it.

Right now I'm waiting for the refund to arrive (the store said they already send the refund...let's sit, wait and hope).
I think the wirex card was abuse by many users where actually you are buying or what is the site you use the wirex?
I think much better to find other alternative to wirex which is unique 6 digit bin that still not receive any flag in any site or store..
Because there are many users of wirex which is they use it to make like aws account abusing the wirex and use the vcc in and now i think wirex is not acceptable right now with aws account..
So always look for unique 6 digit bin.

It was just a local bike shop (they have several stores at the same region). I don't think they sell it globally, it wasn't Amazon, Ebay or something like that.
What do you mean by a 6 bin? The card has 16 digits, shouldn't the first 6 be the BIN, the other 9 the account and the last one the checksum?

I am a verified user too now Smiley
I was a little worried since I didn't translate my papers, but it's all good now.
I am unsure if I should buy a physical card too - I don't have so much Bitcoin to spend after all - but I am inclined to do that step too.
Well, you do have to pay a monthly fee of 1GBP/1USD/1EUR. I would not recommend it unless you really need a card to buy at POS, i.e., you don't have any other cards to buy stuff in person.

A lot of those seem to be issued by Wavecrest (Adv, Payeer, Wirex, Bitwala, Spectro, etc. etc.).... what are some that are not by Wavecrest?   Have been happy with my Payeer and Advcash cards... but my concern is that since it's the same financial institution, I'd prefer to have the risk spread out a bit and also use other bank issued cards.

I also have Bitpay, which has worked great so far.   The debit card that comes from Bitstamp has been fine as well.   Was using Anx quite a bit but they pulled support to one of the countries I spend a lot of time in, so I don't use them as much now.

My wirex cards were issued by MyChoice card.

Update on my verification process: DENIED.
If the verification passes, I may buy the plastic card and see for real how it works...
I hope I don't make a mistake with this...

I use the wirex card as any debit card (POS), you can make online purchase with it, so it's just as any debit card. My friend also bought things in a country which the currency wasn't the debit card currency, it worked fine. The good side is, if you travel a lot you can get USD, GBP and EUR cards and all with the same company.

Regarding make a mistake, to be honest, I'm looking for another debit card because both me and my friend had our share of troubles with wirex. They do try to solve the problem, but it seems they are not very good at what they do. The app interface is bad, they changed the exchange ratio calculation a few times, their support takes days to solve any problem, my friend's card was delivered to his old address (11.000 km away), when they changed from mastercard to visa the app interface showed 2 days for the delivery time using the free express delivery but it actually took 2 weeks, half BTC disappeared from my wallet due to a bad exchange (app failure maybe?) but they did refund me after a few days. They do are improving and they do try to solve your problems, but I feel like riding in a car that is being built while we drive it down the road. For now I'm sticking to wirex, but I'm looking for better alternatives.

How long did it take from the moment you've sent the papers until the result?

I send the papers in early March this year. I got the denial today. However, when you submit the papers a message appears showing that it should take 1 to 2 weeks and, if after 2 weeks the result doesn't come out you should send them an email. Just make sure you don't mix profile verification and account verification (as I did). Don't forget to include a translation to English (if that's your case).

wirex sounds really good since you can buy and sell BTC. Does it still offer this or is this out of date information?

Yes, they offer it, its tricky to find the option on the mobile app, but it is there. It took me a while, but once you are at the exchange screen you can select the wallets to exchange currency from and to, so, in theory you just need to convert money from your BTC wallet to your FIAT wallet and the other way around.

Update on my verification process: DENIED.

So I submitted new documents, as they as in their website ( https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/207161719-How-and-why-to-verify-Wirex-account- ), passaport (that has English translation) and a landline telephone/internet bill (which I had to translate to English, since companies in my country do not send bills in a non-official language, obviously). Just hope they don't complain that my country language is not English and that they be a bit faster on the verification process this time.

Another wirex issue...

I was saving BTC to buy a bike. After weeks searching for the right bike I finally found it at a sale and I was going to buy using wirex. In the final step of the payment process an error occured, apparently I don't have enough limit even though I though I was a verified user. So my wirex app screen appears as verified profile (hence why I though I was verified), but at the website I just saw the verification is in process. That was misleading (the misinterpretation of profile verification and account verification was mine but the app DOES have a bad user experience/interface).

Second thing is, I submitted the documents to verification in early March, it should be done by late March, but now it is almost July and it is still not verified. I though of several options to buy that bike (see below), but all of them don't work.

Options to spend my money:
1) pass the money to a friend of mine who is a verified wirex user so he can buy it for me. I cannot pass him GBP through wirex, only BTC. As I already passed my BTC to GBP, I couldn't send him GBP. Also, I didn't find a way to pass my GBP back to BTC to send it to him (even though I'd probably lose money with all these conversions). So, dead end.
2) unverified card limit for buying online/offline is 800GBP, not enough.
3) I could travel to the store city (~100km) and do an offline purchase, only 2 purchases would be enough. But the store opens on Monday and by Monday wirex new limit will not be 800GBP but 100 GBP. So, 16 purchases of 100 GBP. It doesn't seem like a good option (if the store agree to do that). At least wirex doesn't seem to have a max number of daily POS purchase.
4) I cannot withdraw the money and travel to the store city (~100km) because the daily limit is 160 GBP until June 26. After June 26 the limit will be 100 GBP (buy and withdraw). As we pay a fee each time I withdraw I'll lose a lot of money. Besides, by the time I get all the money the bike might have been bought.
5) I cannot send GBP to a different account with a higher limit (bank, leupay, monzo...).

Apparently there is also a max lifetime usage of 800GBP, so it would make all the option above unfeasible (even though it is possible to load the card with more than 800GBP, as I stupidly did, the lifetime transactions limit is 800 GBP).

My hope is that the verification process goes faster than it has been going so far and by the time I get a higher limit the bike is still there. I open a request under verification process to wirex. I'll post the results here.

Seriously, I feel like it is easier to put money on wirex (there is even a bank transfer option) but harder to take it out (there is not even a bank transfer option).

Just updating the situation, I received this emai on april 29th:
"Apr 29, 11:28 UTC

Hello!

Sorry for the late reply and inconvenience.
We'll make the refund on your card.
The problem will be fixed.
Kindly ask you to wait. You'll receive the refund withing 2-3 days.

Best regards
Wirex support team"

Yesterday I received this email:
"May 1, 13:58 UTC

Hello!

The refund has been done on your card. kindly ask you to check."

I checked my account and they deposited the GBP as I would have received if the operation went ok back then. So, wirex did solve it, but it is an inconvenience because it took a few days. Luckly, it wasn't urgent.

Since they are changing their exchange fee policies, I suggest make it clear how much is the fee for a given range of BTC being traded

That must be a glitch. However, you have nothing to worry about. Please give me your support ticket number and I will track the issue with the support team

Ok, it's 2 days now since my bitcoins are gone and I'm beginning to worry about it...

Ok, now wirex partially solved the problem.

Today 26/04, 11:25 AM:
coingecko 998 GBP/BTC
coinbase 1001GBP/BTC
wirex 991.01 GBP/BTC

0.7% of real exchange fee
Thank you, you noticed Wink We are working hard to listen to our community.

HOWEVER, if I want to exchange 0.1 BTC to GBP it uses the exchange rate of 953.23 GBP/BTC. If I exchange 0.11 BTC up to 0.5 BTC, the exchange rate is 976.71 GBP/BTC. I didn't put more than 0.5 BTC in my wirex wallet to test when (which BTC amount) the exchange rate actually reaches the 991.01 GBP/BTC.
It's a change in the logic. You can learn more about it here: https://wirexapp.com/blog/wirex-v2-1-released-today"

Right now I tried to do 3 exchanges (1 through the site and 2 through the app), all failed. Furthermore, the 0.508 BTC I used to do the exchange are gone and no GBP appeared. I'm sending a message to support and I hope I don't lose 0.508 BTC. I'll post the results here.

I've notified the support and I've received a couple of emails informing that it is under analysis. Actually, I checked again the BTC amount and it was 0.5048 BTC not 0.508 BTC. Anyway, here is my ticket: #92417.

Wow, that news is from today, this change is happening on the fly! I'm glad to see the exchanges rates are better! Could you tell us how this fee is calculated exactly? Or what is the minimum BTC amount to get the highest exchange rate?

Thank you!

I'm just writing this in a different post because of reasons:
Sometimes I see some things that reminds me of those sales:
"One product for 80 money units, but by paying 160 money units you get the second one for free"
That would be a good roll-safe meme:
you don't need to add fee if you add a (very) profitable exchange ratio

Ok, so my previous post was deleted, I don't know why. I tried to send the moderator a message asking why so at least I don't make the same mistake, but my messages to him/her are blocked. So I'm putting the numbers here again and expecting that it wasn't deleted because of the information my post contained (otherwise it would be censorship?):

At April, 20th:
Coingecko marked 963 GBP/BTC, at the same time, if the loading option was used to load BTC from the Wirex wallet to GBP at the Wirex card the exchange rate was 885 GBP/BTC, which means a real exchange fee* of about 8.8%

Now, April, 25th:
Coingecko: 977.99 GBP/BTC
XE: 981.541 GBP/BTC
CEX.IO: 997.49 GBP/BTC
Wirex card load GBP from BTC option: 917.53 GBP/BTC
Real exchange fee*: 6.69% (using the coingecko exchange rate)

By "real exchange fee" I mean what we lose in comparison to the "official" value of GBP/BTC or what we lose by not buying GBP from localbitcoin. In the end, it is this real fee (the ones the users "feel") that counts.

Finally, wirex site says "No hidden fee" at the card section. But I searched the site for what exchange rate is used to load BTC->GBP and which fees applies but I couldn't find this information anywhere at their site.
