Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I see there, the circulating supply should not exceed the 35M given out during  the ICO for the next 2 years???

Hi

New DOVU team member here.

I think the categorisation of circulating supply vs total supply can be a bit misleading, as all tokens have been already minted.
Alex Morris, Head of Product, explained this briefly in his AMA, on top of the Token Policy blog post.

We are now preparing some more detailed guides to add further clarification on this topic. Please check our Telegram channel, News Channel and Blog where we announce all the amazing partnerships and results the team has accomplished so far (another NDA with an OEM has been signed last Friday!).

Regards,
Max

Welcome Max!

I find myself daydreaming fairly regularly these days about how the future might look. Arwen really sparked something with her article on nudge economics. The ability to use tokens to gamify parts of our lives in a way that other incentivization techniques can only do in a clunky fumbling sort of way is fascinating. Looking forward to your update on circulating supply and whatever other awesome surprises you have coming our way.

But too few exchanges cause DOVU to be out of circulation, so we should get more platforms so that there will be mobility.

I would like DOVU to be on a bigger exchange more reliable exchange as well. Well really I would just like a fast and easy way to exchange dovu. Whatever that mechanism may be. The UX of going to an exchange is something we all deal with and is normal but most people aren't going to do all that. The use case for this token only benefits people if they can exchange their DOV for fiat or products/services (giving it value) quickly and easily.

So I think it's inherent to the vision that within this system there is a fast and easy to use exchange.

All speculation, but if I'm right then it's a milestone, and with the way the team has been executing milestones, Hitting multiple pilots in different fields, one being successful with BMW, and developing those relationships more then I have little doubt that they'll accomplish this at some point. Long story short hodl and be rewarded imo. They've unlocked a whole realm of use cases and mobility will be changed because of it. This is easily one of the most unnoticed projects that could easily transform the world. Just my .02 though, and I'm wrong a lot.

Re: [BOUNTY]DOVU - Content Bounty Program Q1

I don't necessarily think this counts, but I think it would be helpful for a lot of people. I would like to post it on DOVU/reddit, but I want to make sure the information is accurate. I took the answers from official blog posts, announcements, and AMAs. If the team thinks its valuable/worthy of bounty then let me know otherwise please verify this information.

It's important in this day and age to be able to get through information quickly. In an effort to provide information without shilling I've put together an unofficial FAQ. I am not affiliated with DOVU, but I have tried my best to provide only what the DOVU team has officially stated.

Q: Is DOVU running pilots with BMW?

A: BMW group UK announced the selection of DOVU among four other start ups for the BMW Innovation Lab 2018; this announcement was made February 5th 2018. The 10-week residency will culminate in a presentation to senior BMW executives on 22 March 2018. A successful pilot will allow the team to continue building their relationship with BMW.

DOVU Source - https://medium.com/@dovuofficial/dovu-february-update-5388667292ee

Q: Is DOVU pursuing other pilots?

A: Yes, there is ongoing work on multiple pilots with multiple meetings being held with additional potential partnerships.

Source: https://medium.com/@dovuofficial/dovu-february-update-5388667292ee

Q:  Will the DOVU protocol plug and play into existing car systems or is there associated hardware that will need to be assembled during production?

A: There is no need for hardware and DOVU will work with the existing car systems.

Source -  https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7qrw2h/im_irfon_watkins_cofounder_and_ceo_of_dovu_ama/

Q:  I would like to know much more about the technical side of DOVU. When will the team consider sharing more details about the technical aspects of the DOVU token?

A: We will be sharing more on this during Q1

Source -  https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7qrw2h/im_irfon_watkins_cofounder_and_ceo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: It seems like there is little promotion being done by DOVU. How do you plan on increasing awareness?

A: We will promote and invest heavily in that promotion when we have something solid to bring to the community. A successful pilot for example.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7qrw2h/im_irfon_watkins_cofounder_and_ceo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: How do you see DOVU reaching non-crypto people? Are they going to be able to trade it for money without going to exchanges, learning about wallets, etc?

A: It is essential the DOVU can be used by non-technical people. We are investing in a simple to use wallet where trades can be made without going to exchanges.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7qrw2h/im_irfon_watkins_cofounder_and_ceo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: DOVU's use case seems very similar to IOTA's data marketplace. What are some of the key differences that might give DOVU the edge over IOTA?

A: The main similarity is that we’re both interested in tokenisation of data. However, our approaches and goals are quite different. We’re very much looking at making the use of blockchain and cryptocurrency available to anyone by hiding a lot of the complexity involved for non-technical users. DOVU also differs in that we use Ethereum smart contracts to define and verify transactions between the user and consumer of data meaning that we have a very transparent record of exchange, which is really important both for users and data providers - particularly as GDPR kicks in and to make sure all transactions are fair and executed specifically on the terms of that contract. Thirdly we’re working in a very specific niche (transport and mobility), alongside - and with the support of global manufacturers and transport providers, giving us an enormous head start and exposure to a vast customer base.

Source - https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7ku4hl/im_arwen_smit_cofounder_and_cmo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: Can you provide further details regarding the development team working on DOVU?

A: We have a dedicated in-house product team of 6 currently spread across UX, engineering and project management. The engineering team are all highly skilled software engineers, with experience working both on web and native platforms at scale with a vast wealth of knowledge around security and systems architecture. We’re also doing a lot of work with React Native currently so we have a dedicated front-end developer supporting the team working on our Ethereum sidechain and Smart Contract development. We intend to open source elements of the platform where we see value for the community and we’re also hoping to publish some of our learnings on our blog once this initial pressure from delivering for pilot kickoff eases a bit.

Source - https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7ku4hl/im_arwen_smit_cofounder_and_cmo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: When can we expect to see some working prototype or demo?

A: That is dependent on NDA with pilot projects.

Source - https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7ku4hl/im_arwen_smit_cofounder_and_cmo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: How dependent is DOVU on Ethereum? Can slow transaction speeds on ETH impact DOVU?

A: All DOV <> DOV transfers happen offchain meaning that earning and spending DOV’s won’t need to touch the mainchain for the majority of our transactions.

Source - https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/7ku4hl/im_arwen_smit_cofounder_and_cmo_of_dovu_ama/

Q: How are you going to deal with privacy issues? Will it be possible to share car data, location etc. without being identified personally?

A: Given upcoming changes in legislation, namely GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) coming into force on 25 May 2018, DOVU, together with its partners, is working very hard to make sure that all pilot projects will be built in line with the GDPR requirements. We are working on creating easy access and easy user experience with the necessary visibility. There is no straight-forward answer to the second question at this moment of time, because: When the regulation was written it did not consider the vast variety of data that vehicles are collecting (especially when we speak about connected cars) and the fact that one piece of data might not be considered as “Personal Identifiable data”, but when combined with another piece of data, both could identify the individual. This leads to both pieces of data being “Personal Identifiable data”. Various European automotive industry associations, EU Commissions and ECJ (European Court of Justice) are currently working on how to classify types of data and how to solve possible arising issues. We are working with our partners to make sure all relevant measures are taken, and constantly make sure that we are aware of latest updates on legislation and where the industry is heading. Krasina Mileva, DOVU’s COO and Legal Counsel, will be writing an article to expand on current issues in the automotive industry.

Q: Did DOVU have a token sale? Was it capped? What was the ITO price?

A: Yes, a presale was conducted from 4 September 2017 to 29 September 2017. A public token sale was held from 3 October 2017 to October 17. Token distribution was capped at 85362 ETH with 1 DOV = 0.00032001 ETH

Source: DOVU whitepaper https://dovu.io/whitepaper.pdf – page 22

Q: What is DOVU's token distribution plan?

A: The token distribution is as follows

25% of the tokens (300 million) were made available to token sale participants; approx 236 million tokens were not sold leaving a total of approx 63 million in circulation.
35% of the the tokens (420 million) will be allocated to a user growth fund. Earned tokens, by contributing the quality of the ecosystem, will originate from this fund. Tokens received as a reward can ONLY be used within the DOVU ecosystem for value added services. Any unused DOV tokens after 6 months will be sent back to the user growth fund, which can then be used for new users.
15% of the DOV tokens (180 million) will be allocated to advisors, founders, and management to help build the team. Team members vest for tokens in four installments of six months each.
25% of the tokens (300 million) will be held in reserve. The reserve is subject to a two-year lock-down period.
0.5% of the token sale (1.5 million tokens) will be allocated to the bounty program.

Source: DOVU whitepaper https://dovu.io/whitepaper.pdf - page 23

Q: The white paper says there were 300 million tokens available for token sale why is the circulating supply only ~63.7 million?

A: DOVU burned unsold tokens originally allocated to the token sale on 12 December 2017. Total tokens burned: approx 236 million.

Source - https://blog.dovu.io/dovu-december-update-ff0b33343e4f

Q: Is there a bounty program?

A: Yes, there are 25,000 DOV currently allocated to content. The bounty program lasts until March 31st 2018 and will be distributed 2-4 weeks after the end of the campaign. See the link below for what the team is looking for.

Source: https://blog.dovu.io/dovu-content-bounty-announcement-b89c13278117

Q: Does DOVU have a wallet? Can I use MyEtherWallet

A: You can store our token in any ERC20 wallet so yes you can use MEW.

Re: I have no clue whether XBY is the future of crypto or the most professional scam
by

I'll say that it is 100% impossible at the moment to make that determination with 100% certainty right now.

Personally for me there is more evidence pointing towards XBY being real then not, and by real I leave open the chance that the team truly believes they can accomplish what they set out to but falls short in the near term.

One of the biggest things that adds credibility is the decision to get a patent.
There is no reason to say you're going to get a patent if you're going to scam people; if you're trying to obscure the code you can make it closed source. Not only that but at some point you have to obtain patent pending status and people are only going to hang around for so long waiting for that. That means you actually have to file for a patent and people are going to see it.

Other than that pretty much everything can be spun as a mask or facade. The github for xcite, the ramped up marketing, the lack of pursuit of big exchanges, testnet 3, zolt, the new jobs they're listing, active devs on discord, Xfuel, etc.

now imo you have three possible future scenarios that can be assigned a estimated %likelihood of happening for example (making up percentages):
1) XBY is vapor and will fall apart in the next 3-6 months 10%
2) XBY is not vapor but there are inherent problems with the code short term 20%
3) XBY is not vapor and has nothing but minor flaws in the code 70%

Next you look at potential losses/returns for each scenario:
1) lose 50-80% of your investment
2) may go up due to less uncertainty about the team/project and more transparency could also go down so let's say it stays where it's for 3-6 months
3) goes up 5-10x in the short term and will likely end up in the top 20 by main net

Using whatever percentages you assigned you can then determine if the risk reward ratio is worth it, hedge the percentage you assigned to the vapor and maybe the flaw category into a safer project, and continue on with life.

That's just my approach though. Not investment advice and all example numbers are hypothetical.

Another scam on board with 14 out of 15 token ratio held by the team!
14/15 OF THE TOKENS NOT IN CIRCULATION.
63M IN CIRCULATION OUT OF 963M.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IS THAT?
Well, let me explain it to you more clearly.
It's almost ALL OF THE TOKENS.
The next Ripple scam. Congratulations!

This is the most common criticism I see of this project. People really need to do their research a little better. Especially before calling projects a scam; it essentially amounts to I DIDNT LOOK INTO THIS AT ALL BUT LOOK AT THIS SUPERFICIALLY SCARY THING.

I'll be generous though.

.3B tokens were available in the token sale they actually ended up burning .236  (not exact amounts) hence the 63 mil in circulating supply i.e. Tradeable

.42B tokens are allocated to a user growth fund. These are earned by contributing to the quality of the ecosystem. These can only be used within the DOVU ecosystem for value added services. Unused user growth fund tokens get returned after 6 months to be used for new users. In other words these won't be traded on exchanges they'll be used in the ecosystem that DOVU creates

.18B for team building. These are vested in six month installments. These could be exchanged and added to the circulating supply.

.3B are reserved/locked down for two years

1.5 mil for the bounty

So the team has 3x the circulating supply but divided up into 4 installments so that should be a pretty gradual introduction into circulation. Not to mention with everything the team is accomplishing it's highly unlikely they devalue their own token by dumping

And a little under 5x after two years. Based on their very aggressive road map DOVU is going to be rocking by then. Will it cause some inflation and FUD? Yes but I don't think that will impact anything in the next 18 months, and even then this is one of the most professional teams I've ever seen. They aren't hyping and pumping, they are delivering solid content about their project, nailing milestones (BMW pilots and probably many more in the coming months), and for them to build all that then destroy their token but market selling .3B is highly unlikely. They'll get what they've earned and enjoy the rest as they continue to grow. That's just my opinion after looking into this for a few months I could be wrong, but that's my wager

Source
https://dovu.io/whitepaper.pdf

Roadmap is in there too.

The team really hasn't gotten the credit they deserve for what they're doing at the moment. Luckily that means very cheap tokens for anyone that agrees.

by
Evlve
on 13/01/2018, 22:28:31 UTC
Before I shill i would like to point out that diversifying your investment into 10 coins may not be best.

Reason being is every coin you pick has to 50x in order to hit the goal. Any coin that doesn't 50x will have to be compensated for by a coin that goes above and beyond.

Imo do 3-5 coins

This still minimizes risk by not putting your eggs in one basket, while requiring less coins to go up by a lot.

Also it's a bit tricky since you would typically do like a NEO type coin to protect yourself. But that means that  NEO would have to be worth half a trillion. Possible but idk. Point is you get into a weird realm where we aren't sure if the top 10 coins will all be worth hundreds of billions; that would assume that crypto only goes up over the next 3.5 years. I don't think anyone is even sure of what's going to happen this year lol

So my picks would be

1) WTC
2) XBY
3) SONM
4) DOVU
5) BAY

Honorable mentions - NXS, XEL, BAT, SIA, and maybe SALT

Bitcoin and eth may give you a solid 2x-3x

Further down you might get a few that are posed for 5-20x maybe more over the year.

DOVU

They're running pilots with tier 1 OEM this quarter. Creating the platform and doing a public beta in quarter 2. By Q4 they'll do a dual public launch of the DOVU protocol, token, and marketplace.

Partnership with OEM in 8 days.

In talks with new exchanges

It's been on a tear lately with the upcoming announcement but still very cheap for what they have (53 mil mc) also seems very resistant to btc/eth fluctuations

Post-ICO Interview with DOVU CMO Arwen Smit

https://www.chipin.com/post-ico-interview-dovu-cmo-arwen-smit/

transforming the mobility space is not a one-person mission. DOVU has close relationships in the transportation ecosystem, adding to its sector expertise. Partnerships are key to gaining market share. InMotion Ventures, the wholly owned subsidiary of Jaguar Land Rover, is an investor and partner to DOVU, amplifying its connections in the mobility space. Announcements on partnerships with other OEMs will follow soon. Also, DOVU is working with KPMG to make sure it’s structured correctly, ready to scale globally.

Secondly, there is a worrying trend in the industry. There are over 1000 ERC-20 tokens, leading to siloed communities – one of the very things blockchain intends to solve. DOVU wants to shift the focus from isolated ecosystems to the underlying blockchain technology, by being interoperable with other blockchain protocols (e.g. IOTA and Ethereum). Combined with intuitive UX, demystifying the benefits of blockchain technology, this positions the DOV token to be the global unit of value for the mobility and transportation ecosystem.

Lastly, the core team consists of entrepreneurs, blockchain developers, product marketers, product designers and legal experts – all with significant experience shipping and supporting products used by millions of people. The team knows how to build a global business, having worked with the likes of Google, Mercedes, Microsoft, Jaguar, Ethereum, Facebook, CERN, BP, and Rolls Royce.............

I forgot about DOVU!!

Just popped in my head this morning! Big partnership announcement on the 15th and 50 million market cap... This is going to do big things this year.

It's certainly a more stable investment in an unstable environment but I don't agree that there is going to be just one coin at the top and everything else is going to zero; it doesn't work that way in any other industry.

That being said industries are typically led by a few that make up most of the market cap. Then the remaining slice is divided up into the rest; it could definitely be the same in crypto.

But if your good at researching and diversifying you can pick some of the little guys that are likely to go up 100-1000% while the big guys get their little gains every year. I guess if you're a passive investor that likes to leave your money in something and not think about it then the top 10 coins are where it's at. Hell for most people on this forum it wouldn't be a bad idea to put the majority of their roll into those anyways and throw tiny amounts into the other stuff.

From a purely business standpoint censoring someone in the official thread that is on a rampage isnt bad from a damage control perspective; it doesn't take much for people to scurry away from something. Reference the crypto marketplace since it began haha. Being transparent helps but sometimes people are so fear driven that they are looking for any inkling that something is amiss and start rationalizing why they might be right.

Good on you for pointing this out and keeping them honest, but honestly if it is a scam then you're really SOL on that money although with the govt getting more and more involved I would say legally it's not that viable to pull anything like what happened in the early days. Either way this industry will be high risk/high reward until it really breaks out into the general populace and the corporate behemoths figure out a way to work it into their favor.

I can't think of any coin that hasn't been called a scam at one point.

Does having a community that goes into an uproar all over the forums/slack whenever they disagree with a strategy really benefit this project? Or any project?

In my opinion the people doing the work have 99% of the say and they are 99% going to determine whether or not they create a project that offers value to their customers. The community then determines what that is worth by buying, holding, sharing, selling, etc.

Would google, Toyota, Apple or any other company creating a product determine their entire product line or entire strategy based off what the customers are telling, no. They may be influenced but at the end of the day it's up to them.

In the decentralized world there's a certain amount of power that the community has that I don't know if you'll find in other markets. People feel entitled to make decisions typically left to managers and leadership teams; it's an odd dynamic embedded into the realm. When you couple that with people trying to get rich fast and expecting 1000% returns a month after they've invested I think the result is what you'll see in many threads across these forums whenever a coin hasn't had an update in a while.

Do your research, invest in projects you believe in, disregard your emotions, and maybe you'll hit your goals. In the meantime never forget how revolutionary these products are and enjoy the fact that you were at the very least there when it all started.

Re: What to do when the value of your coins starts going up dramtically?
by
Evlve
on 10/08/2017, 18:35:48 UTC
It really depends. You have three simplified scenarios

1) the coin starts going up and you buy as it goes up and it keeps going up
2) the coin starts going up and you buy as it goes up and levels out
3 "" it goes down soon after you buy

Obviously #1 the question becomes how long do you wait before selling. This should be based off what you know about the coin and why the coin is rising.

#2 the question is do you hold hoping for another rise or sell. There's opportunity costs in holding while others go up and potentially same costs in getting out too quick.

#3 depends on if you believe in the coin or were just trying to catch a train.

A simple solution would be to use stop losses soon after you buy to ensure that you only get #1 & #2.

It gets complicated with what if scenarios from there but maybe that helps
