Re: Why does mining profitability keep going down and down?
by
FCR
on 09/04/2014, 02:57:32 UTC
Everyone got in at the peak during the hype and now the reality that virtually all altcoins are shitcoins has set in; they are worthless. They exist only for devs to premine and dump, or for price manipulators. There are a few out there that may be worth something in the future. Too many people got burned because everyone thought they were getting free money. There is no free money; it comes from one person and goes to another. I will probably be selling off my hardware a piece at a time to regular computer users.

Re: SocialCoin - The Most Profitable Scrypt Coin to Mine Today!
by
FCR
on 19/03/2014, 05:26:07 UTC
Fact 1: Block halving is coming up on Block 50,000.
Fact 2: According to CoinWarz.com, the most profitable scrypt coin generates a Bitcoin in 92 days per 1MH/s. SocialCoin generates more than that even with the current low value of 5 satoshis! 1 MH/s mining SocialCoin generates 280,000 SOC per day which are 0.014 BTC (71 days per BTC) at 5 satoshis (even more if you keep them until after the halving!) so - Mine SOC and keep it for major revenues.

Where are you getting this 280,000 per mh from? Average diff over 7 days is 1.9 and it's at 1.8 now. That gives 110,000 if you're lucky at 1 mh. BS post.

Re: Spaincoin, the new Auroracoin PUMP
by
FCR
on 18/03/2014, 00:12:39 UTC
When BTCWhale made this thread, the price was already pumped 9-10 times.
You fools started buying, expecting that price would go higher and BTCWhale dumped on you.
This is everything that needs to be explained about the price drop.

We know that, we know that! He deserves something that he is doing to others.

Greedy people get burned.  The world needs bag holders too.  I took my 100% gain and cashed out pretty quick.

People need to stop riding these pump and dump scam coins. The only people who make money are the pumpers. Everyone is looking for a quick buck and getting burned. I can't even say scammed because everyone sees the green-eyed monster and think they will get rich. I have no sympathy for these fools; let their money be parted from their hands. News flash: only a few people get rich of these pumps, and it's the people pumping. Everyone else gets left with a wallet full of shitcoins. This will be the death of alt coins as we know them, and maybe that's for the best.

"Shitty scam pumps" I don't know if you see the irony in calling pumps and dumps a scam? You think there are pumps and dumps where everybody makes money I suppose? So young and naive.

Funny when people complain about losing money on a pump. Shouldn't be riding the pump unless your experienced enough to know when to get out ! Not BTCWhales fault if you didnt make money. Funny people try blaming him...

Funny that he just admitted that the only people that make money are on his team, and that everyone outside will be on the losing end.

Isn't that usually the reason for pump and dumps? The pumper makes money, everyone else loses. The money has to come from someone.

I've got 280x Dual-x cards Anyone got any thought if the Accepted and rejected shares and with HW errors is acceptable?

http://prntscr.com/30u4ca

Rejected amount is fine. HW errors should be 0. One of my 280s will get 1-2 hardware errors per day, but I ignore them because it's a shitty XFX card and it's just a bad all-around card. You should be aiming for 0 errors.

It's not just Clevermining that is going down. Wafflepool is at 0.00430411, which is lower. The pools are too big for the current state of cryptos. Coinshift is at 0.00682, but they have less than 500 mh. They can mine the small coins that shift up and down all day on coinwarz. Some sort of hash splitting will probably have to happen here to keep profits up.

80% LTC Profitability atm and CleverMining users and hashrates are diminishing. However, why there are over 5000 still surprises me. You are better off mining LTC.

I wouldn't be surprised if the pool is actually mining LTC and keeping the difference at -20% profits for the miners.

This has only occurred within the past half a day. Most people who use multipools set their miners there and forget about it, because that is essentially the point of them. Once more people check up on it, it will probably go down more. I have switched because it's getting to the point of not worth the hassle of monitoring my miners for this payout.

Couldn't help myself... now rejects are about 32% with the defaults after an hour.

Will trial:

"scan-time": "1",
"expiry": "1",
"queue": "5",

Hmm.. My WUs dropped after these settings. I ll try the low mem command.

I get over 90% WU. There doesn't seem to be any right answer for everyone, you just have to see what works for your system. Plus you have to run it for more than 20 minutes to get your real rates.

The "only" config you can change for this pool is intensity and even then its not possible (e.g. 280x).

People pointing at your config, where totally underestimating how overloaded the (only) server was.

Some people had already good configs and after trying elsewhere got good performance and only when they were here they had high rejects. Higher than the expected 10%~ due to the coins that are mined...

Whats a bad config? What setting on the miner did you change? You know that queue, scan time and expiry have no affect and its all driven by the server.

In my subtle way and thanks to Kalroth, it was proved that really the only setting available to you is intensity.

Actually to clarify, Kalroth verified that cgminer code deferred to server derived settings for expiry, queue and scantime when those values are available versus what is set in your config/bat files.

What gets buried in this thread is his statement that he doesn't know whether Clevermining's servers provide these settings as part of the stratum handshake.

In truth, most Altcoin pools do NOT pass these settings down to the client. So these settings can actually still be set on the clientside and have some effect since there are no server settings provided by the pool to default to.

Kalroth - feel free to chime in here to help clarify your statements further.

If you don't specify them the client uses the default setting, which if set by the server is used. After test I found using various settings including these didn't really help. Once I changed to the Asia server, performance improved. Proof is in the pudding, the US server at the time was overloaded it had nothing to do with a "bad config".

I was being reasonable to, I was willing to put up with no more than 10% rejects.

That's actually reversed... the way the code is written is that the server settings takes precedence.  This was the point that Kalroth was making.

But that only holds true if the settings are actually delivered by the server, which in the case of this pool and quite a few others (I dare say most Altcoin pools), they are not.  At that point it's either your custom settings or the defaults builtin to CGMiner/SGMiner.

Just because they had minimal effect in your particular setup doesn't mean they won't work for someone else, especially when the server is not setting your q, e, s for you.

I can't say for sure if they work on here, but I was getting fairly high rejects, usually higher than average, before I added q, s, e. After I added them, my rejected shares went down considerably to 2.4%. Now on US East server I am at 0.3% rejected shares after 24 hours with those settings. The average on that server seems to be 2-3%. This is just my observation on my own rigs; it may or may not be coincidence.

I am using queue 5 scan-time 1 expiry 1. I picked these because these are the suggested settings on the Middlecoin wiki.

~ when is the "Air Drop" supposed to happen?

The Auroracoin site and the news sites that covered this scam all say March 25th.

On that day, magically all Icelanders will receive 31.8 AUR, nevermind none of them have been notified, asked, made aware, even identified or know anything about crypto currency at all.

It's a blatant laundering scheme for the massive premine and subsequent dump.

~BCX~

hey stupid fuck... do you not fucking read the god damn website?!?

The Airdrop will start to take place on March 25th 2014 and will target as many Icelanders as possible. There are various means of authenticating Icelanders on the Internet, that will be utilized to execute the Airdrop. About 330,000 Icelanders will be made able to claim f 31.8 each over the following year from the initiation of the Airdrop.

The Airdrop will provide Icelanders with a great opportunity to get to know Auroracoin and use it in their daily lives. It will as well provide a way for them to reach outside the confines of the currency controls.

The Airdrop will be a gift to each and every recipient, for him or her to spend or save.

Further detail on the Airdrop will be posted once it is under way.

You keep saying that on the 25th all 330,000 will take delivery of their 31.8 AUR.. Nowhere has the dev ever said it was going to be done in one day... Stop shittalking about this coin..

Are you delusional? You seem like the type of person who believes anyone's bullshit. Think about this very deeply for a few minutes.

Some guy on the internet is going to give A WHOLE COUNTRY free money he created out of nothing, essentially. Iceland has 320,000 people. How on earth are that many people going to know what Auroracoin is? Think of the logistics in carrying out a deed of this magnitude. The majority of people don't even know, or care about Bitcoins, you think they are going to care about this shitcoin?

How is he going to get the wallet addresses of 320,000 people? Are they all going to email him? He would have to send out coins to 36.5 addresses an hour. That's over 1 per 2 seconds for an entire year, but he would only be able to do it a few hours a day, so it would take years. Is he going to write a spam bot to send it all out? Spam is illegal in most places and people would think this is some sort of scam anyway (which it is).

What are they going to do with these coins? Dump them for Bitcoins, and then get real money. Who is going to bother with that? That is so much work setting that all up that and most people won't know how. Plus when they do dump these coins, the people receiving them down the line will get less and less because of all the dumping. How is the market going to bear that many coins being dumped? How many coins is each person getting? Something like 31 I think I read. That's ~1.4 bitcoins. At the current price, that's $1000. Who cares? That's nothing for all the work that would have to be done.

Also I think the Icelandic government would have something to say with all this money laundering going on which is why that country is in the depressed state it's in to begin with.

There are so many more reasons why this is a obvious scam. It's people like you who keep falling for these stupid schemes with fiat money and how people go to jail.

I have 3 computers on the new east server. 1 of them is getting the Rejected untracked stratum share messages, and the other 2 are not. I know they don't affect anything, but on the west server all 3 were getting that message.

The 1 getting the message has all 280X's. The 2 not getting the message are 1 of all 270X's, and one of a mix of both. Maybe that will give you a clue to track down the issue. Perhaps it has something to do with hash rates.

It's Scrypt Bud... Litecoin, Dodgecoin,etc

hummm thats why... so all products that announce a lot of gh/s are sha and not scrypt.... like butterfly labs rigs, antminer S1, u1, etc right?

Currently the only thing that comes close to 1mh for scrypt is a 290x and I don't think it will even hit that. Anything that is rated at gh or higher is for bitcoins. I wouldn't waste my money on buying equipment for mining bitcoins. At this point, you would need hundreds of thousands of dollars to make a return. With gpus, you can at least resell them or use them for video games. If you have that much money, then invest it in something else.

why clevermining does not detect my real hasrate ? i should be 2gh/s and it only detects 100kh/s?

there is so much wrong with what you are asking...?

1) I doubt you have 2GH/s - you must mean 2Mh/s
2) your real hashrate is what clevermining reports.
3) it can take an hour to get any remotely useful statistics from the pool - have you waited at least an hour?
4) If it is detecting only 5% of your hashrate, there is something wrong with either your miner or your pool configuration

this is my stats: http://www.clevermining.com/users/16uYXveqwgrqCGw5hfJ8WQCZxNSmVjD8wW

i have 5 i5 core machines, 2 XEON, 1 antminer, 1 nvidia 8800GT....

a friend of mine using only a gfx card has more hash rate... and the card is nothing special 300kh/s...

any advice ? other pools report ok...

You are using hundreds of watts running all those computers just for cpu mining. You are spending way more on electricty than you will get back from mining scrypt coins with cpus. You are better off not mining.

That antminer is for bitcoins and I wouldn't bother with that either. You will probably make $0.06 per day if you are lucky with 2 gh

It's funny that DedicatedPool has 755MH/s of the network total of 975MH/s!!! That's only 77% of the coin's hashrate all from one pool!  Shocked

EDIT: LOL, now it's currently 995MH/s of 1011MH/s!!! That's freaking 98.4% network hash all from one pool.

GG guys.

Hashfever has 560mh, so the numbers are not correct somewhere. Those 2 pools combined would have more than the total network hash. There are many other pools mining this.
