he never posted back.

i was interested in what miners were stolen.

it would be sad to stick someone up for a pair of older s19’s

The stolen miners are not that old, a Bitmain s21 and a Canaan Avalon miner, the mini home heater with 37TH, I believe the S21 is the more costly one, so far the criminals aren't caught yet but the manhunt for them is on, I hope something will come up because it took a lot of time before this my friend can gather the money to buy these miners, he always ask me first before he go for any.

The serial numbers was never recorded or snapped with camera because he never had any reason to do so, @Everyone thanks for your concern and contribution.
I don't know what kind of country you have and how people steal there, but in my country thieves don't carry guns. Robbery is punishable by a very long prison sentence. I can assume that since robbers came to your friends with guns, it means they knew that they had money or valuable property, and who in their inner circle passed the information to the criminals. Otherwise, it is very stupid to rob an unknown house with a gun.
You need to analyze this information, your friends' acquaintances and perhaps you will find the reasons for the robbery.

Re: What's your biggest headache while mining?

What's the most common issue you encounter when using Antminer? Huh
My biggest headache is what if I buy an Antminer and it has a defect? That's why I've always been picking GPU over ASIC miners because I know that when I buy from Nvidia or AMD, it's gonna be a high-quality product, while I don't have the same sense for Bitmain. The problem is that if the miner that I bought from China has a defect and I have to return it back, I'll have to pay hundreds of dollars for shipping from my country to China, which isn't worth it for me. Buying from a local market is a bad idea because they sell antminers at double the price.
You mentioned the most basic rule for a miner. You don't need to buy something that you can't repair in your country.
First, you need to find a good service and find out the repair prices to calculate the risks. I know that official service centers have their own rules: if 4-5 chips burn out on the board, they change them; if more, the equipment can be sent to China, and that takes a very long time.
Does Bitmain have a repair centres in countries outside of China? Or are there craftsman that work on repairing damaged ASIC miners? Btw the fact that I can't repair miner in my country wouldn't be a huge issue for me if postal services were cheap here. I can cheaply receive miner in my country but sending them back is a nightmare. It literally costs you a kidney to send something in the USA too. I paid $100 to send a paper in the USA but pay $10 to receive 1 kilogram from the USA. Yeah, postal services are messed up here.
I wish GPU mining was as profitable as it was in 2016.
I know that in Russia there are 7-8 official service centers, and this information is on the official website. You can easily find this information for your country. But you need to understand that these service centers do not fix all the problems, sometimes they send equipment to China, but at their own expense.

Re: S9 keeps shutting down and rebooting how can i fix this?

Peace of mind Smiley
Some algorithms in mining equipment are much smarter than humans. It is impossible to mine on a faulty cooling system on the equipment.

The newer one, yes, but for the S9, by using different firmware, you can disable the fan check and be able to run it without a fan. But the problem is, how can you get rid of overheating if you don't have a cooling system?

In the past, their way to bypass that issue was to have a DIY immersion cooling (Brains have this feature) aquarium as a sample with full of mineral oil. This one also helps to get rid of noisy fans.
I agree with you that it is possible to upgrade the firmware, but without knowing the basic temperatures of the chips and monitoring them, you could burn out the ASIC. ASIC S9 is very unprofitable even with free electricity, and additional investments in immersion cooling make this idea unprofitable.

I have seen such stories among miners in Russia, and I can say that if criminals are caught quickly by the police, the equipment is found.
The police in my country will definitely not search for equipment by IP address, unless an independent specialist finds it and passes the data on to the police.

For the Kaspa coin, there is already a new ASIC Bitmain Antminer KS7, which has a hashrate that is 2 times higher and consumes slightly less electricity. It is very risky to buy an old model if electricity is expensive.

I'm very curious about this miner's motives.
With that hashrate, his revenue is $3,500 a day. I don't know his expenses, but I wouldn't mine solo if I were him. Maybe he tried for a couple of days and got lucky Smiley

I do not recommend you to use unknown and unverified wallets. For shitcoins, use original wallets, but consider the possibility that there may be a virus.
What are you mining to care so much about security?
If your private key is stolen, your wallet will be of no help to you.
I've been mining for many years, but I've never heard anything like this about such wallets and I don't need them.

If you have some engineering experience and the necessary location with inexpensive electricity, then the payback of the equipment is from 12 to 18 months, but it depends on the price of the coin. In a growing market, the payback is higher. If these basic factors are not present, then mining will be risky for you, and you will be dependent on other people.

Even with ventilation, the temperature will still rise if it is running continuously. This is similar to playing with your mobile phone in an air-conditioned room; the temperature will still increase after a long period of use.
Are you saying that if you spend a long time with your phone in an air-conditioned room, its temperature will rise?
Ventilation is needed to cool the ASICs with cold air from outside, which is why the temperature of the ASIC chips should remain virtually constant during operation.
Yes, that's the case with my iPhone. If I'm constantly playing games on it, it'll heat up even in an air-conditioned room.

The premise for proper ventilation is that the ambient temperature shouldn't be too high. If the temperature is too high, even without cooling accessories, it's useless.
A very important point: Smartphones are not designed for constant gaming and the iPhone will overheat.
ASICs are designed to work 24/7/365 with proper maintenance, so it is not entirely correct to compare a phone with an ASIC.If you make ventilation in the desert, where the temperature reaches 50-60 degrees, then there will be problems with ventilation Smiley

Re: Which mining rigs are best suited for solar power?
by

on 04/09/2025, 12:40:11 UTC
Recommended low-power models Huh
With low power consumption, there is little chance of getting a good profit. Mining has long been an industrial production.
I agree that if you live in a very sunny country, then this is a good alternative, and you should make calculations, how profitable it is and how long the payback will be.
Should we judge based on the circumstances?
If I were you, I would use the experience of your fellow miners from your own country. It's not 2014 now. When I started, there were no mining OS, ready-made solutions, etc., and each miner solved problems on his own. Despite the fact that there are a lot of materials on YouTube and other mining communities that match your requests.
