I also did a single purchase and I must say I'm quite impressed (~ 1.8 BTC).

Shipment speed - very fast (few days)
Price - reasonable
Packaging - very safe, content would have survived even harsh mistreatment of Package

The only thing that surprised me was the complete lack of a printed Invoice or any other paper in the Package though...
If that's the case for international shipments as well, customs may naturally end up with questions (and demanding all paperwork) for the recipients.

Just finished watching The Descent I found this a must see great to scare the pants of you.

WTF? You found this movie interesting? Actually in the Worst Movies You Have Ever Watched thread, we had a serious discussion about this movie. Read from this post onward:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583953.msg7234549#msg7234549

I found this movie was a pretty okay-ish comedy (?)
Completely retarded chicks do completely retarded things and pretty much all die from their limitless stupidity.

Got a few good laughs out of it, but overall nothing special.

PS.
Now they could have made this movie a very interesting one (the setup was usable) - but for that they would have needed to cast good actors and thoroughly rewrite a good part of the script.

Re: PBmining - legit?

Hmmm that feels kinda bad, i must say! But no, i am certainly not working for PBMining....  !!! i am simply researching a bit here, and this was the first thread i posted to, cause i read about pbmining in that review! what's so weird about it?
But if i look at your signature i can already tell you are wishing for a forum free of people trying to sell their stuff. I totally get that, and I am also here for the objective opinions.
I think that you belong to the 5% who stick to their principles, and the other 95% will be happy to sell their signatures. Sad but the world works like this.
By the way, do you know any platforms where they are objective, and you are certain about it? The link i posted was the best review/comparison I could find. I would really appreciate reading about mining at home versus cloud miners, and comparisons of cloud miners, and perhaps a site where they have some critiques... To me cloudmining guru seemed legit, but i would be interested in what else is there! You were right, I am a newbie and I might be naiv and think that something is legit, but that's why I am here on this forum, to try better understanding it... So if you could help me it would be appreciated. And no need to be mean. cheers

In the BTC world, you already got the figures about right. Finding something that is 100% legit (= not intending to rip you off) is the literal needle in the haystack.
Some 95% will (one way or another) look how to skim your money off you in a varying degree of aggressiveness.

Basically forget "official" reviews or institutions. Look through the forum, collect all information & perspectives and filter out those 95% to the best of your knowledge.
Then you're on track as good as possible.

As already written by many, dealing with BTC has almost become a no-brainer.
- forget mining
- buy BTC at a price you like
- hold it and hope for the best, sell into profitable runs if that's your goal

PS.
Technically I don't belong into this BTC world. 100% trustabity, honesty and integrity based on principles eons old seems so.... yesterday.
That oldschool stuff has gotten lightyears distance from mainstream it seems at times.
But it has given me fine senses for everything that smells like it lacks any of above criteria...

Anyway, I'm just a stranger in a strange world, so you're well-advised to keep collecting other opinions on the matter.

i might have posted it already, but you might want to look at this review, it compares all cloud miners
https://cloudmining.guru/wp/category/reviews/

Yes, this advertising site camouflaged as a "review site" (which btw. is affiliated with pbmining, I would even go as far as suspecting they share the same operator) has been spammed by fake newbie accounts over and over and over.
As the very first posting from easy8 some 4 days ago was *cough* accidentally *cough* in this very thread in this hughe forum - it is clearly one of the fake spam accounts.

One more reason to stay away from them - on top of dozens of other reasons.

We are in no way affiliated with PBMINING nor other cloud mining providers.

Yeah, sure... Spoken like a true politician. Trustable like a politician.
You belong to the very same group that spams that likely ponzi all across the Forums since months.

Already forgot your "review site" ran an exclusive ad campaign for pbmining ?

This is their spam strategy. A "supposedly independent review site" and "supposedly legit forum accounts" spreading good opinions about it.
Both combined already tell me with a >95% probability that their operations are a ponzi and have criminal intent.

You might as well rename your account name to "PBMINING.GURU".

Anyway, nothing new under the sun, everything has been pointed out already. Those who chose to invest might be lucky and be out before it collapses - others not so much.
Free country, was their free decision.

Re: [Not] Good price at CEX.io
by

on 11/06/2014, 10:58:14 UTC
Didn't think the thread would be still alive...

Might as well make a final analysis and result, as my furthest predicion time ran in at end of May.

Quote from: from 16 Jan 2014
Put in another way :
Think you'll be able to sell for 0.038BTC/GHs at end of Jan 2014 ? That is actually possible, if you're lucky.
Think you'll be able to sell for 0.034BTC/GHs at end of Feb 2014 ? That is hardly possible, even if you're lucky.
Think you'll be able to sell for 0.031BTC/GHs at end of Mar 2014 ? That is near impossible.
Think you'll be able to sell for 0.030BTC/GHs at end of Apr 2014 ? haha, good one...
Think you'll be able to sell for 0.029BTC/GHs at end of May 2014 ? *omg* have you seen a doctor lately?...

I see a closing price of 0.007BTC/GHs.

The cumulating losses simply ended up being severe and absolutely devastating in the 6 months period observed.
Estimated total net loss after these 6 months is exceeding 80% (!)

Together with maybe some completely crashed stocks or toxic derivates, cex.io cloud mining would certainly be among the biggest money-losing assets in the entire investment market worldwide.

...and the calculations were based on the original maintenance fee of ~3% - as of today it is so ridiculously high they don't even display the plain figure anymore and leave it to the customer to research and do the entire math behind it.

I just hope the original poster that asked for my prognosis got out of this money-losing scheme as early as possible - which is the only thing you can do if you intendeded to do cloud mining @ cex.io.
Recognize the scheme behind it, realize the error and quit ASAP, this preserves whatever of your invested money is left.

* Original scenario :
Rent GHs at cex.io in early Jan 2014 and fully re-invest everything mined (merged mined NMC/IXC/DVC is approximated by assuming an additional 2% mining output, as I lack/forgot the exact figure).
Personal prediction :
Progressive and cumulating losses over increasing timeframes, listed prices are minimum resale GHs prices to avoid a net loss (negative ROI) for each given month of prolonged investment duration.

-------------------------------
Overall, pending another massive Bull-run upwards in price, it really looks like the days for mining are simply over. Unless you somehow get nearly free power supplied AND manage to strike an excellent deal on latest-gen highend hardware... there's almost no way anymore you could walk away with a profit. You either have to get in BIG and take all the risks or leave it be.

Buying BTC (or altcoins of your choice) at a price you deem attractive is now almost the only way to play the game. Otherwise, you'd be highly prone to simply toss money right out of the window.

Since Hollywood is very closely linked to politics (much closer than most think), I wouldn't discount the propaganda in the movies...

There's a reason typical hollywood movies or its awards are working the way they are. Any dissenting opinions will either never find a producer or certainly will never get an oscar. The establishment can't have that.

That is a common misconception.  If you look at actual policies the US is pretty far left in many ways.  I spent a few days studying this a year or two ago, and the US is to the right of about 3/4 of Western countries, and to the left of about 1/4 of them.

It's a common misperception to believe there's actually an inch of a difference between democrats and republicans in terms of actual policies that really matter. You could call them "republocrats" just as well.
In the background, they're basically a neocon one-party-system, owned and controlled by exactly the same forces.
All the differences are just propaganda or artificial pseudo-differences to create the illusion of differing principles, divide the people emotionally and infuriate them over meaningless issues.

The US policies combined make it easily one of the most ultra-right-wing extremists on the entire planet, in terms of resulting effects they are literally second to none in that respect.

Re: Russian roadmap to Solar System colonisation. Moon is the first step.
by
FalconFly
on 13/05/2014, 20:39:15 UTC
As soon as commercial space companies pick up steam the US should easily surpass Russia in terms of space technology. Frankly I think we are still ahead but it won't even be close. American private corporations will be far more effective than Russian government bodies that are rife with corruption and quality control issues (Those last two items are not my opinions, those are facts. Russia has a serious problem with corruption in military technology and development and they struggle with quality issues.)

Now, American government-funded programs do suffer from the same issues but American corporations suffer less than Russian ones do in that respect. Russian corps are far more interwoven with the government than their American counterparts are.

Right now commercial space companies face the same problem as almost all companies - global economy is slowing down, credit is drying up and the whole debt wall is in danger of eventually collapsing.
That means things will not pick up steam - they'll rather grind to a complete halt instead, unless they find a way to become profitable.

Money is hard to come by these days and it will only get harder in the forseeable future. The US lost the technology race about 1-2 decades ago in many respects with only isolated lighttower projects that still stand out (as a direct result of the ill-fated US policy priorities). Today, the US is doomed as a comsumer nation either of eastern/european technology (hightech) or going the cheap route with sub-par equipment. Some domestic products are availble but those either carry an extreme price tag or lack the technology (direct result of vastly insufficient funding during the last decades).
These handicaps could be countered but that would need lots of money and even more time... and that's something money can't buy in unlimited amounts.

Oh, and btw. the US military industrial complex with its strong government collusion is about the most corrupt entity besides its even larger energy and financial complex. All of them are struggling with severe quality issues (albeit with the military still standing the most effective to this date, except their quality equipment is extremely expensive and nearly impossible to operate & maintain financially over the next decade). But again, that's a government policy issue. And that policy is of a very classic and earthly nature, in a mentally sick kind of way.

When it comes to big bucks, only the US government supported companies would still have the ability for large-scale operations in space (industrial sized) within the United States - however, US government doesn't care about space for as long as it isn't a) extremely lucrative or of b) strategic military benefit in order to accept the financial risks of entering large projects.
In short : if it can't deliver a strategic resource or effectively bomb other nations - they won't invest a single penny in it outside some symbolic PR stunts.

Not so amazing.
If you mine with f2pool same things because PPS.

Regards.

PPS like all other methods can only yield BTC reward after a block is found.
The only thing a pool could count you every second would be your number of shares of the total pie.

Since block duration is completely unknown, continiously counting BTC to an account (regardless of method block rewards are shared) is therefor impossible and any such figure has no credibility.

Make up your own mind if the unregulated and wild Bitcoin world really gives you better odds and yields mathematically fair results...

Why is there so many oddballs like this involved in bitcoin?

Apart from scammers/thieves BTC always attracted beggars and the free sh*t army...
There's some real innovative characters within the free sh*t army trying to pry money from others - but there's also the weird and mentally sick ones amongst that group. And I mean the really weird weirdos.

An aspiring psychiatrist with a tolerance for pain could dig pretty deep into these failed and deformed souls. Lots of unique and outstanding study material - and they're live specimen too.

i believe that "true money" is not true money.

Then something happened to you that frequently happens to all "believers" who lack the knowledge for better judgement - you're wrong.
Nothing spectacular and won't affect you for quite a while - but when it eventually does, you'll a) know and b) it'll be too late to react appropriately.

Unfortunately, you're living in the right times to experience exactly that during your lifetime (historically, about 1 out of 3 generations goes through this).

PS.
Although it seems self-evident at first and not worth wasting thoughts about, it takes a long time to really understand the terms "value", "money" and the entire background of what today's people "believe" to be money (including what's wrong with it).
For most people, it's normal not to know these details as it takes quite a bit of research to find out. Just 20-30 years ago, these things wouldn't have been much of an issue....unfortunately, they are today and will become much more pressing in the future.

PPS.
If you still have them - ask your grandparents about these issues. If they're old enough, they usually have invaluable insights to share to help you understand what's the big deal about it.

PPPS. (lol)
On the Ron Paul topic : I'm not a follower. I follow noone. But I do recognize when someone speaks some true words, no matter where that person comes from.

Ron Paul is old and intelligent enough to know what defines true money and what does not - that's his advantage. And judging from the excerpt he's bang-on with his statements.

However, he's very strict on the constitutional principles and the resulting requirements to fulfill them, which are very closely anchored to the original US coinage acts and require physical, intrinsic value.

IMHO BitCoin doesn't have to fulfill all requirements to 100% to be used as money in modern days. Since it has some potential improvements to FIAT (but carries other risks), it may very well be used as a FIAT substitute or as an alternative payment processor in some cases (international payments are it's greatest strengh). Based on what he writes, he has no issues with that ideas.

The ideas of some to use it as an outright replacement for a currency or even a permanent store of value are IMHO extremely far-fetched and out of the question.

PS.
Since he was the only presidential candidate who was not part of the staged, all bought-and-paid-for other muppets, alot of work has been invested to discredit him during the last "election" (which really doesn't deserve the name anymore) by all accounts.
One doesn't have to agree with all of his positions (which in the big scope of things and problems aren't too relevant anyway), but he's definitely by far the cleanest guy you'll ever find on these matters. Plus, he warned since almost 20 years of nearly everything we've seen to come into existence and has maintained his positions straight ever since (whether you agree on them or not) - go find another modern, western politician who truly lived up to that.

Although they are all bigger or smaller scams, they all survive because their customers are either mentally incapable of spotting the scam, gullible, naive - or suffer from gambling addiction. They all manipulate, that's their very nature and sole source of revenue.

Do you have any proof for this? My friend plays on Prime-dice every week or so. So far, he hasn't incurred any loses at all. I have studied the results from hundreds of games played by him. I found nothing suspicious.

If it's provably fair then how can they manipulate?

All smoke & mirrors, nothing more. And if someone takes an edge on a game and lets you do the math - he still has an edge and is tilting the table (falsely interpreted as honesty by gambling addicts).
*hint* showing long lists of games does not mean this list is complete, there are many ways to present you with something you can calculate and be apparently correct, for as long as the house can add unlimited virtual/invisible sessions unknown to you - they can create any matching checksums for any lists they like...

Plus, noone can "break the bank", the most legit services hold back their manipulation algos for the most profitable targets and to protect the bank (those will gladly break any luck streak if a winning streak endangers the operator).

Common sense or knowledge is often absent in gamblers minds, together with the number of addicted it makes for very profitable targets. It suits the BTC world well I must say so I don't have a hughe issue with their existence.

Keeping animals is never for profit of any type. If that is your attitude - then you are the selfish one and thoroughly unqualified to have an animal.
Ugh, tell that to farmers all over the world?

I don't think they have a problem with being selfish, using large numbers of animals to create their desired outcome has been their job since millenia.
(and I think not even they would dispose of some cats just because they don't catch enough mice - they simply have learned to live in a functional symbiosis with various animals - both involved species benefit in their own way)

It's a different story with animals kept at ordinary homes anyway.

PS.
In Fort Knox lagert laut Subcommittee Hearing vom 01.06.2011 (Scott Alvarez, house counsel attorney to the Federal Reserve) seit 1934 kein physisches Gold mehr, lediglich Goldzertifikate mit registriertem Buchwert von 42,22$/oz (a.k.a. Papierzettel).
Ich wuerde da nichtmal einen Bleistift lagern, wenn ich den jemals wiedersehen wollte.

Wenn dir deine Coins also etwas wert sind... halte sie von Fort Knox und der FED so fern wie moeglich Wink

If you can't touch it - you don't own it....

gambling and scamming can be the same if the odds are tweaked.

Not many gambling sites can survive of they manipulate the odds. People will find out within hours and the news will be spread like wild fire. Just search here in Bitcointalk about such incidents.
