Well, I have to admit that I admire the conviction of the people that want to make this project a reality. I hope it works out for everyone invested in XBY

I think once L2s become more widespread, it should help the gas fees a bit, but the reason that gas fees are high is because ethereum has trouble scaling. The upcoming change to eth 2.0 should also help a bit once sharding goes live, but it's not expected to go live until sometime in 2022.

I think at this point, alot of the people that got called "fudders" have been proven right and vindicated in their own way. The founders wanted people to invest in the "idea" of the tech, rather than the tech itself it seems. Plenty of people saw the red flags with this project, but alot of people in the project like Meofherethere, Fishfishfish, Reclusiarh, Ccrevolution, Djc1973, etc would blindly defend this project and now the project is pretty much dead.

The real issue with all of this is that it could have been easily solved if the founders (and subsequently the team members) were to be more open about the tech and would have went through with demonstrating the tech to the community (w/ proper 3rd party audits included). The sad part of it all is that Dave seemed to be what held the project together and once he was gone, the moderators in the team closed the Telegram and the Discord for the project. After that, things pretty much went downhill for the project, and now even the official website is gone

This project is pretty much dead and it's really sad how everything played out looking back on it. Back in the day, everyone who wanted to see the tech or asked to see how the tech worked (even through a 3rd party audit) got called a fudder and people invested their money with the belief that the project would change the entire cryptospace. One thing I still believe is that if the founders and the management team were to simply demonstrate the tech instead of wanting people to invest in the "idea" of it, things would have turned out better for everyone. Instead the management team basically waged a "anti-fud" war against their investors by banning everyone from anything after showing just a bit of critical thinking. In the end, there were quite a few red flags that never got resolved and I honestly still feel like this project basically turned into a cult where no one could question those red flags

I don't think anyone will ever get their money back from this project, and there's a really good chance that the project will sink into the depths of history with many other failed projects. The management team quit to work on their own project (Anuutech), the main xtrabytes website is gone, all posts on the Reddit has been erased, the discord and telegram are still locked, etc.

I do feel a bit sorry for the investors that bought into this project hoping that they would make enough money to change their lives (especially the people that needed it), but I don't think I feel sorry for the people that blindly defended the project towards the end and screamed "fudder!" and contributed towards the cult-like community of the project. That includes certain people in the community and many people on the management team

I haven't checked on Pivx in a while, but it's really nice to see how far the project has come (I originally became interested in this project back when I found out about it on Cryptopia in 2017). Looking over the development updates, it kinda has me interested in staking it

Proof of stake seems interesting, but I think for a project like this to take off, it would need to be able to offer something to investors

It's good to see this project still in active development. I think this project will do really well in the future, and honestly i've always loved the idea of gold-backed cryptocurrencies

lol please never use Elon to manipulate and promote Obyte like he did with Doge. The whole doge thing has been really cancerous, especially on Reddit and Twitter

It seems like there's no more active forums besides Reddit and this for the project and I can't find any information on the coinswap that was announced some months ago

Checking back on this project after a really long time. It's nice to see it still in active development

It doesn't seem like much has happened with this project since the restructure was announced. It's sad to hear about CCR and i've always felt like a single point of failure in this project was bad, but realistically at this point it's a "make or break" moment for it. If the technology is legitimate and the team comes out and wow investors, the project will survive, if they can't, then the project will sink into the annals of history similar to many other projects. The concept of it being a "ethereum killer" probably won't help it much though imo since there's already alot of "ethereum killers" that are far ahead with their own platforms and many hosting defi concepts and projects in their ecosystems

Hope everything works out for you guys, but personally I probably won't invest / buy into this project again unless the technology becomes much less obfuscated and can be properly compared and audited compared to many of the other platforms out there that are available. I would encourage alot of people still invested in this project (if they're in it for the money and not the technology) to take a look at some of the other projects that are active atm too and not to invest solely in this project. Alt season is in full bloom and many projects are up 1000% or more since last year. Rather than focusing solely on this project investment-wise, if you earn money on other alts you could reinvest profits into this project too

Aha, so that's what happened to Byteball. Byteball / Obyte is a pretty old and good project. I hope the developers keep on working on the project into the future.
