Re: Bad Experience with Registration
by
FatBen
on 08/02/2019, 23:28:24 UTC
Wooow, Looks like I wasn't the only one who had a Rough Bitcointalk Welcome
And for the record I was using Tor browser that day.
Spent a good deal of time solving the captchas and when I finally registered and logged in after more captchas.... Guess what?
The goddamn ip I registered with was an evil ip!

Of course i couldn't pay that fee however little it was. I just decided to create another account on a cloudfare friendly browser.

That was indeed a good solution. Thank you but you know the registration process took more than 20 minutes. I never experienced with such registration process. That's why it was a terrible experience for me. Some probably will give up too.

I tried registering an account using Tor browser(which should be bad enough to be able to check the captchas), and saying that it took you 20 minutes might be quite over exaggerated. It definitely took more than a minute to solve the captchas, but definitely very far from 20 minutes. Not sure why it took that long for you assuming you're honest about your estimated duration.

OP may have not exeggerated his ordeal... If i remember very well. It took me over 15 minutes to get registered through Tor only for me to be shown a banned IP address message.

Great effort mate... This is good and informative, I have learnt a couple of things I didn't know about. I wish we could have more of such post than posts where people are fighting for forum power all in the name DT.

Surely one of the most underrated features here. I joined at the time when arguments concerning DT changes were at the peak which was a bit normal but then it got worse to accusations of the existence of a certain cult then counter-accusations and trolling. It even got me wondering if I was in the right place.

Just to add on your point. It's always very important to write a neat well-organised and well-spaced post if you are to share a lot of information with the community. This will give the viewers some interest to read and possibly earn you some merit for sharing but if your article is not organised like this one A Few Key Points to Correctly Choose a Hardware Wallet (no offence to the OP of the thread), People will most likely not read your informative post or it will only attract criticism which will discourage you even more after thinking that you had made an effort to share important knowledge

He probably used a no-break space when registering his username. The name appears as though it's one word  but there is a space between  and Craven represented by a set of characters

Expect capitulation for BTC down to $2000-1800 in February.

Thats where I think the bottom is
You are rather being off topic. this is not the answer according to the question in the OP

Considering the market surge of 2017 and the bearish market of 2018.
What is the implications of the 2018 bearish market on the Cryptocurrency market ?
Did the situation increased or decreased adoption rate of Cryptocurrency?
Ofcourse it did decrease the rate of adoption compared to 2017 but lets not forget that the believers in bitcoin will continue coming in. it's all that matters

Re: The way to escape from phishing sites
by
FatBen
on 25/01/2019, 10:27:51 UTC
I saw a more detailed thread about using addons to avoid phishing attacks
Must have web browser addons to keep you a step safer from phishing

Unfortunately, Cryptonite is now a paid service... which makes it suck IMO

Instead of this, I prefer to use bookmarks. your settings can be saved through your google account so I think it's still the best way for not being fooled by those phishing websites.
Whenever I visit some common sites I usually click the "bookmark this page" so whenever I feel like visiting it again it leads me straight back to it. Unlike typing it and searching it again that can lead you to some mistakes.

And here is why you shouldn't over-rely on bookmarking

Nope, this is not a good idea. The bookmarks can be altered and hackers know people trust their bookmarks. This false sense of security is exactly what these hackers/criminals want. In some browsers you simply click on the favorite bookmark and edit the URL section

A hacker simply search for the keywords in the registry and replace that with the phishing site URL.  Roll Eyes

Re: Trading Coin - harder or easier than trading Forex?
by
FatBen
on 24/01/2019, 23:37:07 UTC
Trading in crypto is much easier because of volatility. for example, at the moment  when bitcoin hits 3500/3600, it's very easy to tell that the next move is going to be 3800 toward 4000
Stock trading also uses leverages which if you are not careful with you can easily lose all your money

they will check the "date" , very easy to determine who  posted first.
Yeah, It's easier to determine who posted first but if someone instead just decides to edit his older blog or site, it wouldn't be easy, would it?

Yes. This actually already happened once. Someone got “framed” for plagirism and theymos found out, so he reversed the ban. I’ll tru to find the post and link it here for you.
Okay, that's good to know if the ban can be reviewed in such circumstances

What if someone is wrongfully banned for plagiarism?
by
FatBen
on 24/01/2019, 23:07:31 UTC
So I have been thinking.
What if some wrong character just decided to malice a user in the forum by going back to one of his blogs or websites and updating the contents to make it look like a user from the forum had plagiarised from his blog/website and then come back to the forum and report the user for plagiarism... user gets wrongfully banned.

my questions are;
1. What has been put in place to avoid this kind of scenario from happening?
2. If the user got wrongfully banned, is there a chance that the ban can be reversed?

Re: Who sold Bitcoin Gold At Close To All Time High?
by
FatBen
on 24/01/2019, 22:34:31 UTC
One thing I know is that any form of a forked coin that has its name Beginning with Bitcoin.... eventually turns worthless. Bitcoin Diamond, bitcoin Gold etc... where are they now
sell them as soon as the fork has finished taking place and buy bitcoin or else you will be left to hold worthless coins.

Re: How about a big list of Forks?
by
FatBen
on 24/01/2019, 22:26:41 UTC
I need to claim some forks from various coins and crypto's. One issue I can foresee, is that the dates when I purchased bitcoin, litecoins, and Ethereum, it is various. Then I have moved coins around from different wallets and exchanges.  I have no clear dates on what is what and it has moved around.

How do I claim forks?
different forks have different ways of claiming them... Google will be your friend here.

Is it hard to claim forks?
Yes, some require some technical knowledge before performing a claim. Others have tools that simplify the claiming process

Is there risk claiming forks?
Yes, some people have lost money while trying to claim forks. Some ended up downloading malware in the name of trying to download wallets.
Here is an example of such an incident;    I GOT HACKED AND LOST 1 MILLION

Is there a charge for claiming forks?
Nope, I think there is no charge... but  maybe some tools could charge you for using their service to claim the  forks

Are there forks that are worthless?
Yes

More. Info. Please!!!!
 Cool Cool
Google is your friend. My suggestion is to do more reading before acting. start claiming the forks, one by one. where you find a challenge... ask here.,
