Nice list of accessories to money laundering.

You do realize that the person who will "win" will be an accessory or the thief of bitfinex right?

Looking forward to see the private Internet Watch Foundation releasing the list of those 37 sites that have closed along with all the other sites they have blocked in the UK and that no longer exist. In a nice list for everyone to audit what was blocked in the past.

no, the value of the blockchain itself is 0, because it can be easily replicated. So the value is in the network effects, or the people using the particular blockchain.

You cannot replicate the hash rate, therefore you cannot replicate the blockchain.  All chains will have different security profiles based on hash rate.  No chain will be equal to another.  "The blockchain can easily be replicated" is another myth of bitcoin.

A weaker but related meat-space fact:

some of us will never support a different ledger. I'm all for alts but if you don't start by forking Bitcoin's blockchain and have an alt superior enough that I would want to support it, then I will just support the first Bitcoin's blockchain fork that implements that alt.

Got two different systems in place. They are not 100% foolproof but I'm also reducing the probability that these will be needed in a medium time scale by donating Bitcoin here Tongue :

(Bitcoin in their frontpage but they are getting very little)

I would sell all my Bitcoins if I could get some millions of USD by doing so

The big question is if you would still need to sell the Bitcoins then.

Re: What is the reason behind the surge of merchants accepting Bitcoin in 2014?

The main reason might be simply the often ignored ethical sense present in most people, even in people with decision power in companies.

The number opposed is just 20%. The other 20% is like... whatever.

I was one of the people voting "agnostic". It wasn't "whatever", I wanted to consider a bunch of stuff and see them debated, all of which have now been posted here and/or other places linked here already.  This thread (a million posts later) and the other sources have since convinced to be "pro fork".

Can't change the vote though. Maybe OP could reset the poll to re-sample how opinions have evolved?

How Long Will Bitcoin Endure?

How long?
How long can it hold its price?
How long can it stand its value?
Is the end near?
Or will it just be remembered in the statue?

It will last till 2140 when all the coins are mined then probably die , we can't see that tho , since we will be all dead by then

good remark!!!

+1

Maybe not if you donate to SENS :p :

Hong Kong central bank, not Hong Kong though.

That is the title of the article.

You are right. It's a pity that for mainstream media, central banks and a country are the same and only. :/
