Re: Whistle to whistle advertising ban
by

As a gambler, what would you have felt about this?

I personally don't have any issues with this honestly because it doesn't affect me. Gambling ads are basically a way of promotion for the gambling industries. It doesn't in anyway affect the games I watch or the games I choose to bet on. If they feel that placing such ban was the best thing to do as far as preventing early childhood gambling and all that, then I think it is a good decision for them. But I doubt how gambling companies would react to such ban because it affects them in a way.

Quote
Especially if you were betting on the very same sporting match? Do you think that this was effective in reducing gambling rate in the country?

I don't think so. I use a particular betting platform, and I haven't come across any of their commercials or video ads while watching a game, but they are very popular. Of course, putting such restriction is going to limit what children see, but the social media is literally there for them to see the same thing. So I don't think it will have much effect.

Re: The Impacts of sports betting on the Sports industry

I don't really know much about other sports, but as far as football is concerned, I see it as the true hub that has really hosted the activities of betting. The sponsorship deals are very massive and they end up benefiting any sides that collaborate. Honestly, I think footballing as a sport is very big and it happens to be the biggest sport I guess.

And concerning the negative aspect, well, it has being a problem in recent times, and it often comes to our minds especially when some games looks manipulated probably from the referee's decisions. The sad truth is, we can never have a 100% transparency in football. A very few individuals just find ways to manipulate a games in their own ways.

Re: The most important factor when building a business
by
Felicity_Tide
on 19/08/2025, 16:13:59 UTC
The most important factor to consider when starting to build a business is the target audience. You have to think of who would you want to cater to. Who are the communities that you may profit off of. Like for example if there is a school near you, you should know that students would be your target audience. You should start a business where students can buy materials from or a place they can study or even hang out around. I believe that if you studied your target audience, the first step of your business is already successful enough.

There are so many criteria to consider before starting up a business, and I think this one that you mentioned is a very essential part, but there are cases where people who are business minded would prefer to start up a business that they are passionate about, but this time around, they will have to go in search of their own audience/buyers, rather than actually offering services that they think most people around would be comfortable with.

I feel the main thing is to keep having passion to continuing that business. Your audience shouldn't basically determine the service you offer, but the services you choose to offer should determine the audience you chase after. And one thing that I feel most business owners don't know is the idea of keeping good business relationships. Every single customers that uses your service needs to enjoy it to the fullest. I'm actually saying this not because I'm a business person per say, but because I keep having good reasons to go back to those that has once offered me good services, and I believe so many of us here do the same.

I don't think your patience gave you the win here, but rather, it was a massive luck. Failing to cash out the first $29 was a big risk honestly, and I guess it turned out great for you. I only played one out of the three games with hopes that Newcastle where going to give me a goal, but that same luck didn't reflect on my side.

I guess it was a very poor start in the premier league, so that was why you had so much luck. In as much as I believe that skill matters a lot in gambling, it never reflected in last week games. We go again this week. Let's hope that same luck would work out. Congrats by the way.

My question is this: if it wasn’t a bank staff who revealed my information to them, how did they know I have an account with Access Bank? She even called my full name and recited some account details. It still amazes me till now. How did she get my bank details?

What do you expect... The system is jammed, so nobody checkmates it. Like I said in a reply in a similar thread but about data sales and whatsoever, some of these bank workers aren't as professional as they look. If I personally haven't experienced it, I might think it is all a lie, but I did experienced it as well.

There is nothing to panic about, as nothing should surprise you in this country. I guess certain people see your personal data as a means to earn a few bucks. I might be wrong, but like I said, if I didn't experienced it in the past, I wouldn't have believed.

Your thoughts?

I really don't like it, and I haven't taken my time to watch any, but to me, I feel games like this are sarcastically funny, even though they are not. I can't really fault anyone who is into this kind of gambling though. I guess it is just their own way of defining entertainment and creating joy for themselves, which makes it even more weird.

I don't want to believe that certain people in my country are into this form of gambling, but I won't be surprised, humans can literally pull the most crazy surprises when less expected.

I may be wrong but these are just a few things I thought about.... I would really love to hear your opinion if these can be possible in the nearest future.. and what other use case do you think can also be practical for NFTs..

Nice thread OP.
The points you've mentioned are indeed the actual fact about NFTs, or should I say, they were supposed to be the future potentials of NFTs in th eco system at large, but the honest truth is, NFTs have lost its place. People's interest has shifted from NTF, as there are no much demands in that area compared to what we have in 2021 and the years before.

Of course, NFTs might fulfill these potentials, but I just feel that the majority has moved on.

What happens when there is no more Bitcoin available to buy?

AFAIK, there will be a time when there won't be anymore Bitcoin to mine, but I don't think there will ever be a time when we won't see any Bitcoin to buy. You have to understand that Bitcoin isn't just in a single unit like 1btc, 2btc, 3btc, and so on. And I guess that is literally one of the reasons why it is divisible into sats. So, no matter how expensive a single BTC gets, its sats will still be affordable for everyone to buy. Bitcoin will always be available for everyone, even if a sat cost $1 or more.

People will always sell at some point. That's what drives the market. You have to sell for me to buy, and the reverse can also happen. Mining will definitely come to an end according how it was designed, but i don't think the same will ever happen for supply due to its divisibility.

, if someone holds 1btc from 2015 till date, how many btc will the person will be holding currently base on current Bitcoin price

Please I need experience people reply, not spammers suggestion.

Not sure of what the actual discussion is, but if someone happens to buy 1 BTC in 2015, then it is still equivalent to 1 BTC in our today's world no matter the price assuming the person never sold. The unit, which is the sats never changed, but the price did. 1BTC as at 2015 is same as 1 BTC in 2025, but the price can never be the same.

I tried searching for the actual Price, but not sure of how the correct data is. In 2015, it made an ATH of +$500, and ATL of +$155. Subtracting the ATH from today's price is quite decent.

Calm down, this is just the first match and you don’t expect Arsenal to dominate greatly in Old Trafford except you’re trying to say Manchester United don’t have any value again. Remember Manchester United then had more value compared to now, they’re gradually coming back but don’t expect Arsenal to play like it’s that simple, I watched the match although the fact remains Arsenal won with a goal difference yet Manchester United dominated the whole match, all thanks to Arsenal defense team they did a great job especially Raya. Arteta should learn how to make adjustment after this match knowing he got new players with potential, he might have gotten the whole setting wrong from my view the little changes had a side effect on the players, honestly they can’t win the title with this performance

You made a brilliant and intelligent analysis.
I watched the game as well, and you've literally said all that happened. Arsenal didn't play like the Arsenal we used to know, probably because it was the first game of the season, and it was an away game. You don't expect an away side to dominate the home side in a very big game. I can bet that the opposite will definitely happen when Manchester United pays a visit to the Emirate stadium.

I think Arsenal did the most important thing today, which is the 3 pts. They've being playing good football for 3 seasons now, but haven't won a major trophy with it. Good football doesn't matter much again because only points wins a team a trophy. They will be up against Leeds at the Emirate in their next game, so I guess they might have fully settled to match the rhythm of other teams. And luckily for them, they will have to play the top clubs in the early games of this season in an away fixture, while playing at home in the second half of the season. Their real work for the season has already started.

With a man down Aston Villa were still able to hold down Newcastle at home as they played out a goalless draw to begin their 2025/26 season campaign. In a bet I had played earlier I didn't see a winner from the game and I went for a both teams to score option, I was actually expecting a 1 - 1 draw and not a goalless draw that's why I went for this very option but at the end it still failed.

It was a very terrible game for Newcastle today even though they had more ball possession. I knew Isak wasn't going to be in the game, but I expected them to score at least a goal. Gordon played the number 9, but was literally awful today. I played Newcastle to score first goal, but Gordon decided to mess with the ball through out the game. Same thing goes for Elanga, and I could remember yelling after he missed a chance in the early minutes of the game.

Gordon was just too awful. I'm not sure of Newcastle's current relationship with Isak at this point, but they need to make peace with him and bring him back In the game. Suffering a bet loss and FPL point loss because of his absence is quite disappointing.

Re: The Simple Way Ordinary People Can Use Bitcoin to Stay Ahead of Inflation
by
Felicity_Tide
on 16/08/2025, 19:41:28 UTC
Even if you don’t concede that bitcoin is real keeping your money in the bank will not be the answer because inflation can flatten the value, hold asset instead.
Do you know you don’t even have to save your emergency fund in the bank, you can still create a different bitcoin wallet for emergencies, you can convert to fiat when essential to handle your emergencies.

The thing is, it varies from person to person. In as much as fiat don't appreciate, and it is advisable to leave most of the asset in Bitcoin so as to give an edge against inflation, doing so for emergency funds might not necessarily be the best idea for most people, though, there are some that can definitely find a way to navigate the whole thing so they don't get their emergency funds at a loss.

But as far as savings is concerned, banks might not just be the best option. Inflation keeps rising while fiat keeps losing its value. Bitcoin should do the job.

Re: Do you believe in momentum when betting on games?

Would you place your bet on that team just because they have the momentum on their side, or do you think it’s just an illusion and not really a factor in the outcome?

If I actually feel like taking the risk, then of course, I will do that without thinking twice, though with a considerable amount. In most cases, a particular team don't have to do a comeback before bookmakers starts giving massive odds. They just drop the massive odds the moment they are trailing by the two goals, and of course, some bettors would take the risk.

I haven't tried it though because I don't think such risk are worth taking on league games. Maybe a very competitive game like the Champion's league would be the best time to take such risk, because of course, a lot of crazy comebacks happen.

Nice tips OP.
This shouldn't apply to those on the forum alone, because I believe there are those out there that spend hours on social media or watching movies without taking a break. And most people don't have an idea on the importance of eye protected features that are available on every devices. My eye care feature has been ON for months now while I also use dark background for every applications too. It has really helped me a lot. I sometimes switch to light mode though, so as to experience something different, before switching back to dark mode.

Our eyes are very vital, so there is a need to give it a break when due. A short sleep most times does the job.

And I sat and did not understand who to blame: myself for a weak laptop and the desire to press this button.
Or the creator of the site for the fact that it could not work stably, Even on the weak equipment of the gambler (me).

I understand that most likely many will say that I am to blame for this situation, but shouldn't an online casino stop accepting bets if it sees that the "gears of the game" are not spinning as they should? After all, this is a game for real money of the gambler.

I like the fact that you actually specified that you used a old weak laptop to visit the casino site. The thing is, AFAIK, these websites contains so many activities, and they where literally designed to work in their best and most efficient way despite the loads. If you kept clicking or triggering what can affect your deposit despite knowing the problem on ground like the sudden froze, then it is more of your fault. Because your computer was weak like you pointed out, and there was a chance that the first spin actually triggered, but your computer or Internet connection couldn't keep up.

I've come across similar issues whenever I use a betting site, though mine is as a result of poor Internet connection. I'm never in a hurry to click anything. I just exercise patience, and allow the whole the to return to normal before proceeding. I doubt if those with fast connections and smooth running computer faces issues like this.

Sport fans let have a constructive conversation about your expectations this coming season.

I'm not sure why I didn't come across this thread sooner, but I guess it is never too late.
Well, the long awaited season is finally here. I was eager to see it though, but the drama that happened during the transfer window entertained me a little. Just like every other fan, you should expect the best from the club you support especially when they play in a very competitive league like the Premier league. Managing feelings should be a priority for me this season, because last and previous seasons taunted me. I expect a win in almost every game, but still have to maintain my composure if anything goes south.

And as for gambling, I have a strong feeling that betting on the number of goals would produce more wins, than just betting on who to win. The transfer window was a busy one, so I expect a very tough action, and most importantly, a very interesting season.

Liverpool making their fans very proud, as a fan I will like to see my team bounce back even if they had some slip up. Liverpool relinquish a two goal leads today against Bournemouth but they were strong enough to get back that two goals lead making it 4 goals to Liverpool and Bournemouth 2 goals.
As a neutral this was a very exciting game and the best opening game I have watched. Liverpool has opened the show let's see what other big teams has to offer.

Today's opening fixture was a master class.
Who would have thought that Bournemouth would pull up such a fight against a very big side, and give us a very pleasant game?. Liverpool did all they needed to do, so they won the game. Massive credit to Bournemouth as well, but winning at Anfield has always been a difficult task for Bournemouth. Morever, this is the first game of the season, so I didn't expect less.

The main show for this game week one is actually happening on Sunday, but let's see what tomorrow fixtures has installed for us. Liverpool currently leads, but we are going to get a further table arrangement tomorrow, and then on Sunday. Can't just wait for the Sunday fixture.

Re: Despite the growth of bitcoin why haven't it been legalized by many nations?

Despite the massive growth, advancement and advantages of Bitcoin and most crypto currency, why is it hard for most countries to full accept it is or permit it's exchange?

I think I will agree with those that suggested that the government are literally the main factor that hinders Bitcoin acceptance in a country. Just like every country, the government are totally in charge. Of course, we hear democracy, or freedom, or whatsoever, but the government always wants to be the boss. Bitcoin is difficult for them to have control over because it literally exceeds a country. It is clearly different from a fiat system where the government can either trigger excess of it, or limit it like what I witnessed in my country in two different occasions.

Having a technology that they can not shut down, can not replicate its monetary form like the excessive printing of fiat, can not be seized without the owner's permission if the person practices self custody, clearly looks like a threat to them. The thing is, some government has learnt to live with it, knowing fully well that nothing can be done, but guess what, they still impose KYC/AML policies, so as to put their citizens in check.

I might be wrong, but I want to believe that data selling should be one of the best ways for so many companies/organizations to make money in this country. Nobody checkmates the system... No follow up. As long as these organizations pay taxes, they are free to do whatever they like.

And sadly, we live in a country where we have so many internet literate that are not really literate per say. They have zero knowledge as far as personal data and information is concerned. Just like you said, it has become a common thing to receive calls from scammers after visiting a bank. So many of these bank workers are not as professional as they look, because I don't understand how a total stranger would call me after visiting a bank.

The truth is, this discussion is very vital, but from the current happenings in Nigeria and how ugly and undeveloped things has become, people won't still take this very serious, mind you, the majority don't even have an idea of how important their info is.

It really depends though, but from a reasonable point, i will advise, and I believe others will advise the same thing. It is very important that we chase after a number one skill, or should I say, a very important skill that can keep us relevant as far as this current world is concerned. The world has changed a lot. People now demand for new things and not necessarily old things.

Of course, learning how to produce soap or whatever point you also mentioned, is important as well. But you have to look at your environment, and see if that's what the people around needs. Of course, I can decide to learn soap making for myself, but that will be for my own personal use, so as to cut cost.

It is always important to get a skill, and not just any skill, but to get an invaluable skill that will keep you relevant in today's world. Mind you, digital skills aren't just the only skills, though they are quite common. I assume it varies from person to person.
