Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin?

Recently my friend suggested, writing a bitcoin related blog, and monetize it with bitcoin advertisement networks is also a good way of growing bitcoin. I guess lots of blogs earning thousands of dollars like this. Planning to execute this method soon.

Good idea. Thank you for posting it here and not being selfish. I might take this to consideration and see if there will be good profits. Even low earnings will do. If it will be daily or weekly it would be better.

this will probably take a very long time to get started. you'll have to slowly gain readers before u see actually money. if you're interested in writing, you can try sites that pay you for articles but they're in usd as far as I know.

Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016

I think it will rise even after the Halving. Because people will realise that the amount of BTC is limited. And also, there will be another halving approaching and so on. So i think the price will rise in 2016 and then stay about the same for the  2017.

Price will increase after halving for sure, but we are not sure how long it will be stable, we need price stability in bitcoins that will only encourage more and more people to start using bitcoins, if price is not stable people would never invest their money into bitcoins.
If price become stable than bitcoin will loss it charm but bitcoin need some steady growth rather than dumping and pumping.

I think price stability important for mainstream usage

Re: Is Bitcoin 'real money' to you?
by

Yes bitcoin is like real money to me. I can buy something online and paying online with bitcoin, and i usually gambling with my real money in real life. and now i can use bitcoin for it.

But still the fact remains that bitcoins can only be used online and it's like other online wallets like google play store credits which cannot be used as fiat unless they are sold for fiat cash. It's virtual money only IMO.

I still think bitcoin should remain as an online currency, it is fundamentally a currency designed for the internet world

I spend them actively online on gambling sites. Other than that, I don't use my Bitcoin.
using bitcoin just for gambling, it looks like you're not utilizing all the advantages that have on bitcoin,
I think you should try to spend bitcoin, with things other than gambling, it's more fun

Gambling is one of the areas where bitcoin makes it so easy to do

Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a particular country or socio-economic context,[1][2][3] or is easily converted to such a form. The main functions of money are distinguished as: a medium of exchange; a unit of account; a store of value; and, sometimes, a standard of deferred payment.[4][5] Any item or verifiable record that fulfills these functions can be considered money. -Wikipedia. So yeah, it is a verifiable record that is accepted as payment, so bitcoin is  money

You can also use BitPay or integrate Electrum on a website of yours. BitPay is free up to certain point and Electrum is completely free.

if its completely free, what is their revenue model?

Re: What do you do with your idle coins?
by

If there's a thing that i want/need, then i'll use my coins
But after that? just hold it until the price rise again  Grin

Exactly, that is the right thing to do as if they are idle then there must be something in our minds that we are not using bitcoins, we would surely hold bitcoins for price rise and sell it at a right time and make some profits out of it, honestly bitcoins can never be idle as we would surely keep on using it and spending it whenever we need and that is the right thing to do with bitcoins.

We should be spending more bitcoin instead of viewing it as a speculative asset

by investing to mining, slowly but surely

it is good for long-term investment, I also mining for the future, but mining really have to have a lot of capital, because of the difficulty is increasing and the income the less.

Cloud or physical? With halving coming up, its a risky field right now right

physical. yeah I am also very confident when halving occurs bitcoin prices will be increasing high.

This sudden increase in price may entice more miners to join, driving the difficulty up. Mining really has too many factors to calculate profitability. On the other hand, halving may cause a decrease in demand of miners in fear of negative returns. So many unknowns...

I agree with you. But I am confident that there is profit to be earned, you just have to be careful

Bitcoin in real life is even lower. Low education and poverty restricts access to the internet. Making it more unlikely that they have heard of it

When I visited India a few months ago, I was really surprised at the expanding internet usage there, especially among the lower middle class population. Smartphones are quite popular there, and a lot of people use them to access social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. These people might be poor, but they use internet quite frequently.

Oh I really didnt realised. Always had the impression that internet access was rather low

I just checked my excel spreadsheet, which acts as a log to record my Bitcoin activity. Ever since I lost my job in 2014 March, I have offloaded some BTC23.541 and converted them to fiat. Received some $6,732 in return for these coins, at an average rate of $286 per coin. Currently the exchange rate is at least $100 higher than that. Feels bad.  Angry

In this sense, bitcoin will never be a true currency, everyone will just hold and not use it in fear of rising btc prices

do not put all eggs in the same basket.

I have read this one somewhere in a different thread and it is really true. If you put it all in one basket you might lose it all with just a blink of an eye.

Does this also apply on wallet? I mean, is it better to split our btc into different wallets instead of using one main wallet which collect all the money we have?

Well theres a case to put in a few wallets. But risk of losing your btc from wallets is lower. There is only the counterparty risk but established wallets should be relatively safe. The diversification makes more sense for investments as you can lose due to failed investment or counterparty risk so... make sure u diversify

if all "basket" are bad and you are limited and have only one option, it's better to put everything there or put a % of what you have there

there is no reason to diversificate too much, it's very hard to follow multiple investment, and there is the risk to lose more

Does 3 investments sound good? Diversify your wealth into thirds

I'm not actively spending bitcoins right now. I just save bitcoin for a price raise. I believe the upcoming halving will bring more surprises to us in terms of price appreciations.

Isn't this worrying. Bitcoin will not be a currency if people keep holding. It'll become a speculative asset

The OP is right in his assessment.
There are some traders who buy/sell bitcoin.
Bitcoin's actual usage in commerce is currently negligible.

Bitcoin in real life is even lower. Low education and poverty restricts access to the internet. Making it more unlikely that they have heard of it
